The Youth Leadership Lab is a program created by the Scratch Team with the aim of providing opportunities for young people to engage in leadership roles and contribute positively to the Scratch community. It was indirectly formed in July 2024 with the creation of the Youth Advisory Board.[1] The Youth Leadership Lab consists of tiers such as the Youth Advisory Board and the Scratch Mentor Program. This program was officially shared in June 2025.[2]

Youth Advisory Board
- Main article: Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board is a program which is designed to enable Scratchers to collaborate with the Scratch Team, providing insights about Scratch from a youth perspective and contributing to the continued growth of Scratch.[1] This was the first program created as part of the Youth Leadership Lab.
Scratch Mentor Program
- Main article: Scratch Mentor Program
- Not to be confused with Scratch Mentors.
Applications closed on June 27th and are currently being processed. |
The Scratch Mentor Program is a role designed to expand on existing roles like the Scratch Design Studio and Welcoming Committee. People with the role will have opportunities to design and manage studios for thousands of others, act as a role model and resource for Scratchers all around the world, lead and guide volunteers during program activities, and help shape Scratch’s special events. It replaces the roles fulfilled by the Scratch Design Studio curators and the Welcoming Committee curators and condenses them into one program which will encompass a wider scope.[2]
Existing Scratch Design Studio curators and Welcoming Committee curators are automatically invited to join if they are interested.[2] They have a separate form that they need to fill out in order to continue curating and helping these studios.[citation needed]
