Scratch is made at the Scratch Foundation by the Scratch Team, but was created at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), both of them in Boston, Massachusetts.

Scratch was made at the Lifelong Kindergarten Group first, but then transferred directly to the MIT Media Lab.[when?] In 2019, Scratch was transferred to the Scratch Foundation in Boston, where it is still being developed.[1]
