Scratch 3.0 is written in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript and uses the JavaScript library React.

Scratch's source code can be found on GitHub. Building the Scratch site from the source code requires Node.js, a variant of JavaScript that runs independent of a web browser.

Scratch 2.0 was made in Adobe Flash and Scratch 1.x was made in Squeak.
