Hey there! Welcome to the English Scratch Wiki, XXRedTheCoderXx. Congratulations on joining us! I'm bigpuppy. If you have any questions or would just like to chat, feel free to leave a comment on my talk page.

By the way, I've compiled a list of tips for New Wikians. To see them, click "Expand" on the right side of the box below.

New Wikian Tips

  • Check out the help pages if you haven't yet. They explain a lot of stuff on the wiki.
  • Use the sandbox to test out formatting and other stuff. The public sandbox gets cleared automatically every few hours by a bot. If you'd like your own sandbox that won't get cleared automatically, you can create one by going here.
  • You reply to others by clicking the pencil icon in the top-right of the page, then clicking "edit." After that find the person you'd like to reply to, add the right number of :'s - the first person doesn't add any, the second person adds one, third adds two, fourth adds three, and so on. Then you type what you'd like to say and sign it with ~~~~. You click save page and there you go! Here is an example conversation for you that is fake:
Hi everyone! There's a mistake in the "Scratch" section.
Example User 1 (talk | contribs)
Oh...Yeah. One of the images needs to be changed.
Example User 2 (talk | contribs)
 I'll do it now!

  • If you have any big questions about the wiki or suggestions (or something else relating to the wiki that you want a lot of people to see), you can post in the Community Portal. This is the official main talk page for our wiki. You can also reply to posts there. :)
  • If you're looking for pages to edit, I recommend random page. You can find it on the navigation bar (to the left) of the wiki. You can also look in the category "Pages to Improve"; it has multiple sub-categories with pages that need to be changed.
  • The box below where it says "summary" when you make an edit is for your edit summary. Put a short description of your edit here.
  • Please check "This is a minor edit" if your edit is minor when making an edit — this means things like just changing capitalization, removing a space, or another small edit like that. :)
  • If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! There's a list of Experienced Wikians (people that have been elected by the community to help lead it) here. There's a list of active users here. Of course, you can also ask me on my talk page or ask on the Community Portal.

These tips were written by Bigpuppy and transcluded from this page. The original version was written for Dressygirl, but now they are quite different. Thanks to jvvg and Kenny2scratch for helping me touch it up. I originally wrote the indenting instructions for Ski-, but I've changed them a lot for these tips.

Hey there, XXRedTheCoderXx! I'd like to welcome you to the Scratch Wiki. Glad to have you here!

I would highly recommend starting out with the Welcome Tutorial to learn the basics, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me or anyone else, or you can create a topic on the Community Portal.

Here's a short list of a few things that you might want to know:

  • The Random Page button (found in the Navigation tab on the sidebar to the left) and the Pages to Improve category might help you with finding an article to edit.
  • The Help pages (also on the sidebar) can be useful if you're wondering how to do something!
  • You can create a topic on a talk page by clicking the pencil icon at the top of the page (next to your username) and selecting "New topic."
  • Make sure to fill out the summary at the bottom of the page when you make an edit; it helps people know what you changed or added! You can also check the "This is a minor edit" box if your edit is very small (e.g. fixing the spelling of a word).
  • You should use the "Show preview" button (next to the "Save changes" button) while you're editing. It helps you avoid making a lot of edits to a single page and could help you catch typos. "Show changes" might be useful too.
  • If you like discussing and giving your opinion on things, you should sign up for the Discussion Invitation System!
  • Be bold! You'll probably make some mistakes (everyone does!), but you shouldn't be afraid to get editing. You'll learn lots over time, and the Scratch Wiki is a welcoming place. If you ever need help, just ask someone!

Hello

Hello Red! I didn't know you were a wiki editor until I saw you edited the Scratch Lab page. Anyway, How do you make it display the first letter lowercase rather then uppercase, which is what the wiki normally does.

Hi! Sorry, I'm really new to this so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. As for your question, I believe @bigpuppy told me how. I just edited the page and changed "DISPLAYTITLE:User talk: XXRedTheCoderXx" to "DISPLAYTITLE:User talk: xXRedTheCoderXx" I think. Oh, and don't forget the brackets.

Comment Mistake

Hello! There's some sort of post at the beginning of your talk page that's supposed to work as an introduction to your talk page signed by @Bigpuppy. I'm not sure I should fix someone else's comment and change the design so that it doesn't look like a Bigpuppy comment, because I don't feel as though it's my place to do so, so I feel like I should probably just let you know. Thanks for understanding.
