Please categorize new pages

Hello, I'm WikiMonitor, a bot that patrols the Recent Changes. This is just a friendly reminder that when making the page Category:Features obsoleted in future versions, you did not include any categories. Please remember to categorize all new pages and files. Check out Help:Categories for details. Thanks!

Please remember to sign your posts

Hello, I'm WikiMonitor, a bot that patrols the Recent Changes. This is just a friendly reminder that it appears you forgot to sign your post in revision 209380 of Scratch Wiki talk:Community Portal. Please fix this by adding four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post to insert your signature and remember to sign your posts in the future. Signing your posts is important as it allows other Wikians to see who made a post. Thanks!

Post on the CP before creating templates

Hi! I see you created a template which is good to see but please post on the CP S:CP before creating templates. Therefore i put the delete template on the template for it to be deleted. Thanks!

Please no. I did.

Did what?

Post on CP
Whatsfordinner77 (talk | contribs) 02:03, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
No, you didn't. There are no topics on the CP right now about a "fulllock" template. Please do post on the Community Portal before creating a new template.

Yes, the lock template. The fulllock template is related to that topic. If you say so, I'll salt it.
Whatsfordinner77 (talk | contribs) 05:30, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
It's obviously related, but you didn't explicitly make a new CP post about the template. If by "salt" you mean "protect from creation", you don't have the permissions to do that, and you're thinking about Wikipedia too much.

Well, I have many others ;) (I stopped beacuse the semilock template image was not transperent.)

Lock templates
Whatsfordinner77 (talk | contribs) 05:47, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
I did not know that ":3" was an emoji
Well, we don't need any lock templates - we have no real need to indicate, when reading a page, what protection level the page is at. Wikipedia shows lock icons on protected pages because even anonymous users can edit pages, so they need to know before attempting to edit that the page is protected. However, here, anonymous users cannot edit, so they don't need to know the protection level of the page anyway.

Please remember that we are not Wikipedia

Hi. I've noticed that many of your newest proposals are essentially copies of things that exist on Wikipedia. Especially your "lock" template idea, and your newest CP topic about various discussion templates.

I want you to keep in mind that we are not Wikipedia, and therefore "it's used on Wikipedia" is not a good reason to add it here. Remember that Wikipedia is a far larger project than we are. Wikipedia's job is to document literally everything; our job is to document Scratch. We don't even have a voting system, except during elections. "support" and "no support" templates aren't useful because people can just say "Support" or "No support" at the start of their replies to the topic anyway, and anyone who can read can see at a glance who supports and who doesn't without having to rely on icons. Wikipedia needs to show their protection policies because it affects their unregistered users; we don't, because we only allow editing to those who have passed an intensive process.

Please do not propose any more ideas without explaining why they would be useful on the Scratch Wiki, and not just on Wikipedia. If you are unable to think of why an idea would help here, please do not propose it simply because "Wikipedia uses it".

Thanks.

Umm... How? I read wikipedia a lot about some tech-y stuff. I am probably going to get banned. The S:NOTWP rule is just forcing me. Ok. I'll say just more than "It's on Wikipedia."
