I have seen the code to that thing and it looks pretty foolproof, you probably just didn't realize how much time had really passed.

No, it said 8 in the last hour even though at the time of that message I only did 4 in the last hour. I did 8 edits to that page entirely, the first 4 for over 2 hours.

Remember me? SSS, the editor that barely made any page edits? Man, it's been long. Though I suddenly remembered this place and the fun I had with it. I am not going to be "gone" anymore as I said I was last year. Now, I'm going to be back. I'm not just going to make talk or user edits like I did last year, though. Your sig

In your sig, you link to your contribs using [] syntax. You can actually just do [[Special:Contributions/SuperSmashScratch|contribs]] (result: contribs) and it works just fine plus it removes that little lock icon. Intra-wiki links are always better than global links or plainlinks, in my opinion.
