Un-Scratch Wiki

I was gonna copy the Un-Scratch Wiki(now that April Fools' Day is way finished) to somewhere out of your userpage, in the main Wiki. Do you want me to delete your copy as I go? (Get back to me on my talk page, please)

Only Delete Pages If They Break The Community Guidelines

Hello, I have seen that you deleted How To Make An RPG Overworld for "leaving other editors to edit it". Please only delete pages if they break the community guidelines, and I put work into that page, so please remember that. Think of the Scratch Wiki as a collaboration. If someone doesn't know something, other people help them. Now, you deleted it because you wanted me to do all the work. Please consider what I've said for future times. Good day!
SuperSmashScratch (talk | contribs) 15:25, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it has no content. If you are going to create a page, put at least some content on it, or ask someone else to make it. Also, we didn't delete it because we want you to write the whole article. We just want you to write at least part of it, rather than just a placeholder. I have deleted it once more. I do not expect to see it put back unless there is meaningful content on it.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:49, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
I did both of those things. Id something doesn't break the guidelines, it shouldn't be deleted.
SuperSmashScratch (talk | contribs) 15:55, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
There was no content on it. There was a single sentence to the effect of "do it like this" with nothing else.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:58, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Three sentences, all saying what you can do to do it. I was going to make more, if you would just have been patient.
SuperSmashScratch (talk | contribs) 16:04, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
If you are going to submit unfinished revisions of the page, please use {{In Progress}} or do it in your userspace.

q and a

do you need to protect the page from being moved? maybe the user who moved the page back now learned his lesson and wont do it again? just curious on why you wanted to protect it : )
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 22:56, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

I just want to see a reply. I probably could have waited one more revert (and see if he ends up breaking the 3RR), but it's been a while since I've used the ol' protectaroo. (Does this mean I'm abusing my powers? :P )
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 22:57, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh yeah I know protect function is fun
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:07, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

You said your name on your user page?

That is against the Scratch Community Guidelines. Agh, I can't help but say... You have the same name as me! (I know, I am a hypocrite, but I just couldn't help but say that. X3)
SuperSmashScratch (talk | contribs) 14:38, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Well, it's such a common name that I think it really doesn't matter. If I were to give my SURNAME, however, that would be a different matter, because it's a rare one in the U.S.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 14:43, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
OK. My surname (last name?) is not uncommon at all BTW, but I'm not saying it either.
SuperSmashScratch (talk | contribs) 14:47, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
I could say my first name because there are 4 kids in my grade with my same name so... my name is Max. Sup'

Explaining what the "running" page is

On User:ThisIsAnAccount/Running, you just have the text "true". I am assuming that setting that text to "false" would disable your bot, the same way that WikiMonitor and VoxBot work. Anyway, you might want to clarify on the page what it does and how to use it, the way that VoxBot and WikiMonitor do. This will help prevent curious people from messing with it and also help less experienced users know what to do in the event of a malfunction.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 22:56, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Also, near the bottom of User:ThisIsAnAccount, you say "based off". Please don't say that (the correct term is "based on"). Sorry, language usage is one of my pet peeves.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 23:02, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
It says on the main page what it does. Actually, setting it to anything besides "false" would disable it.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 14:24, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Your bot is working! Nice first edit! Oh yeah, please set a 6 or more second delay just to prevent mass editing which could crash the wiki. Also, please wait until scmb1 makes your account into a bot to prevent the whole recent changes from getting flooded with edits. Thanks!
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 15:03, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

I'm awaiting her reply. Consider the edit a test. As for now, it will move at a slow pace of 1 edit per hour. Once it becomes a bot account, I'll turn up the pace to one minute. ;)
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 15:05, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Oooh cool! Great work on the bot!
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 15:06, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
hmm, your bot is at the J's now, maybe it will take 3 more days? :)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 20:45, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

for your bot

What is the regex to identify the redirect category? I might be able to help
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 20:47, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

oh I looked at your profile and saw you had roblx and decided to send you a friend request :3 my username is hunthello ;)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 21:08, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I think it's something like /#REDIRECT\s*\[\[(.+)\]\]/i.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 00:30, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
I would just do a straightforward way, like first! make \[\[Category\:.?Redirects\]\] and \[\[Category\:.?redirects\]\] or something like that, remove that part by inserting a ;nbsp and then after that looking back at category:redirect page and manually removing the last ones. I think that is the least bug-free way to prevent the bot from malfunctioning :)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 00:35, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

I want to be an admin! I will work my way up. I live in central time too. I am a teenager and I also find myself acting weirdly in public. Like try to be a bird for example. I wish people would recognize Autism more. They over look it because it isn't life threatening.
-PRO- (talk | contribs) 23:23, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Please wait for another election and then you can create a speech and people will elect admins and experienced wikians :)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:26, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
You're pretty new here. I don't think we're quite ready to give you all that power.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:22, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
September elections woot woot!
Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 13:31, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
I know. I am going to edit more articles. I already added some stuff to a couple.
-PRO- (talk | contribs) 14:02, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Other redirects

Yay all the redirects categories are gone! While you are at it, do you want to also remove Category:Shortcuts and Category:Other Redirects? Thanks!
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 15:06, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Shortcuts are a special type, so i say leave them, but other redirects can be uncategorized.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:27, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm (or should I say ThisIsAnAccount is) on it.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 17:28, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

when changing the category of Help:Group rights from Category:Roles to Category:Help, just wondering, the category says that Roles refers to anyone in the scratch community, and in the scratch community page, the wiki people were one of them, so doesn't that mean that roles can be roles of different people in the scratch wiki? just wondering :)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:26, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

But "Roles" is a content category IMO, not for wiki/meta stuff.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 23:32, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
I get it. thanks!
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:55, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Processing Accounts

Do you need any help to process accounts for the Scratch Wiki?
Swampert11 (talk | contribs) 21:11, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

I think Mathfreak and I take care of it pretty well.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:42, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Swampert11 (talk | contribs) 21:55, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

just a heads-up

User:NolanAwesome is using your userpage idea, and if you really want to stick to the Community Guidelines about crediting you could ask him to give you credit (although it's up to you, everyone started copying my bot page ;P) ;)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:56, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I don't really care wether he credits it to me or not, as long as he tries to make changes rather than copying.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 00:18, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
Ahh ok just making sure
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 00:20, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
Back when I was originally making WM's userpage, I basically just copied VoxBot's. It's a lot overdue, but thank you for giving me a nice template to use.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 00:30, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
I shouldn't of put that in brackets but you're welcome :)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 19:02, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Are you replacing by hand?

Based on your edit summary, are you actually manually finding and replacing each occurrence instead of using a regex?

I replaced Scratch Timeline using something like /http:\/\/scratch.mit.edu\/forums\/viewtopic.php\?id=(\d+)/ and replacing to {{Forum Archive|$1}}.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:18, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

I use list=exturlusage (the same API my bot uses) and scan through for any replaceable links. I would have my bot do it using new RegExp("http://scratch\.mit\.edu/forums/viewtopic\.php\?id=(\d+)$") but for some reason Google Apps scripts never made the ? escapable (epic fail on their part).
Short answer: Yes, I am finding and replacing by hand.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 13:02, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
At least paste it into a text editor an run a regex replace. :/

do you even fund this
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
That's funny; I don't even see a post that I have made recently where I didn't sign.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:48, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Oh, because you signed for me. I would rather you use {{unsigned}} at least with me so I can better see my mistake and so you don't get the date wrong.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I believe that user css works by changing the default css settings of the wiki, but first you must define it on the CSS page you created then deleted ;)
KrIsMa Anamation2.gif KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 18:44, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

it was js not css; js is more fun to play with :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 13:18, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
I think user JS/CSS is disabled on our wiki.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:51, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah I think it is now that I tested it with common.css and Common.css ;)

Yay, we're back to the old icon!
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 21:33, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Probably a glitch; I hadn't actually changed back my icon when you posted this. I guess since it's July now, however, I will change my icon back.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 21:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
Now you're in the rainbow icon to me. Glitches!!!
