The message you leave when approving accounts

I think it would be better to make it not so optional reading the introductory pages. Perhaps something like "Please read these introductory pages to learn the way of the wiki." You know, i think i might start using that; it sounds cool. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:13, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

So much for trying to sound casual. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:27, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh, it's fine to be casual, as long as you get across the message that they really should read the pages.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:25, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
How about "you should probably read these"? Sounds casual but has a feel of non-optionality in it.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 13:53, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Alright.

Template:Obsolete feature

Because the template gives an automatic category, you would need to put cat=no in the first slot and it might put a link to a page called cat=no instead of what you wanted it to do.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 14:47, 14 July 2013 (UTC)</code>
It would not put a link, I'm sure. Look, then look at the source of this page:

Archive.png This article or section documents something not included in the current version of Scratch (3.0). It is only useful from a historical perspective.

Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 15:25, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
To further answer your question, if any argument has an equals sign in it, the thing before the equals sign is taken to be the name of the parameter and the thing after it is the argument. If you have numerated arguments, look at the source of my "Leave a message!" thing which uses the plainlinks template to see how to work around it.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 16:37, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

I looked and it's in numerical order anyways, so it wouldn't make a difference with the numbers or not.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 20:01, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Yes, but the link has an equals sign in it, which would confuse the argument parser and think that the parameter index is something like "http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/w/index.php?title" if it weren't for the numbers.

Experienced Wikians Rights

What can you do that you couldn't do before without the status? I was just wondering what the difference is and you seem to be really active.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 19:59, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

According to Special:ListGroupRights, which is really only accurate for custom groups, I can now delete pages, patrol edits (which I don't even think is useful because nobody bothers to patrol anyways), move files, use rollback, and confirm accounts.

Re: Thanks a ton

I actually am not quite familiar with all of the features on the account request system. For documentation, see that of the the original extension. For what to look at in account requests, see this.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:59, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Kk. I actually figured out a lot of the stuff on my own. :P BTW, are you going to fix the "unexpected error with PHP's mail() function"?
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:49, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
That's not a bug with the extension (it works fine on my test server). It's a problem with the server. I can't do anything about those, unfortunately.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 13:11, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Now that I look at it, it looks like I actually may be able to do something about it. However, I'm currently having issues with Git so the fix may not be portable to the Scratch Wiki.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:42, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
I wish I could do something instead of sitting around on my butt. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 14:53, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Please notify users when rejecting account requests

I noticed you recently rejected an account request but did not leave a comment on the user's profile saying so. Please do so (we decided that was the best idea on the CP a few days ago), so that the user knows their request has been received. Thanks.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 17:20, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Oopseh, forgot about that. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 21:45, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about the trouble...

Hey, I am sorry if my article was terrible, you can remove it if needed...
I see now that you would prefer more compartmentalization.
Also, i accidentally shared it - I wasn't finished. :/
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 21:27, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh, it's fine. I see potential in this article, it just needs better organization and stuff, so I'm giving it some TLC.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 20:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh, okay.
Thanks, as i actually like the way you are organizing it. I don't know about you, but when i have a lot to type out, I usually type it out in a semi-Organized manner, and then come back. You beat me to it. :D
And, what is "TLC"?
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 20:12, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
If I'm correct, it means "tender loving care" or some variation of that.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 20:16, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Ah, i see.
Well, next time i will try to write it faster so i have time to organize it. :D
Plus, i need to use links to other articles for defining things.
Again, sorry about the unnecessary part in the beginning... I joined last night.
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 20:20, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Actually, that was this morning. Last night was when you submitted your account request.
Also, remember CAA14 when I told you to indent your comments by one ":"? I meant one more ":" then the comment you're replying to, so if you replied to me, there would be three ":::" If you were replying to your last comment, it would be "::"
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 20:23, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
You don't need the entire URL to link somewhere internally, just type [[TITLE OF PAGE]]. Also, practice that grammar! For starts, "effect" is a noun, "affect" is a verb, but they have parallel meanings.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 20:25, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
I see now. Again, i am new here, I got my account last night, not this morning.
And yeah, i forgot totally about "affect" vs. "effect".
And, as i said before, i intended to correct it a lot more later, as i had several things i needed to do otherwise.
And, thanks, i will remember to use that way of linking Wiki articles. ;)
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 20:38, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh, you are correct about when you got your account. I was mixing up that date with when you made your first change.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 21:18, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
That's okay, no harm done. ;)
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 21:27, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Wow. That edit message you had was hilarious! Forum Smiley - Tongue.png
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 20:33, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, if you've ever gotten an edit conflict with somebody, you'll know what it's like. I really had nothing else to say in the summary, so I yelled about getting an edit conflict with you. :D
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 20:36, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Well then it's a good thing I've only gotten one edit conflict so far, or else I would be on a yelling rampage on your talk page. ;)
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 21:18, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
One question: If i add a section about specifically using this method for effects, will you remove it? I'll be sure to keep it as compact and organized, as this would short, and i wouldn't write it all out and then edit it, because it would be simple.
CAA14 (talk | contribs) 20:53, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, go ahead, this is a wiki. I'll only remove it if it is irrelevant or redundant, otherwise, I'll probably meld it into one of the other sections.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 20:55, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
I see.
This is the first Wiki I've done anything with, so i really don't know much about a Wiki. :)

Help in updating an article

Recently, I decided to take up the job of updating the Scratch Wiki:Table of Contents/Front Page article, and so far, everything is fine, except for one thing. All the nav bar images are supposed to fit on a single line, but they don't! Help? Also, I'm not sure the Help nav bar button links to the best article. Could you maybe check it out?

Finally, I've been renovating my talk page recently and I was wondering what you thought of it, so could you look quickly?
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 17:54, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

I'll get around to it later today or tomorrow; I have something else to do.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 19:28, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
That's okay. I'll be waiting for when you're done.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 19:42, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Actually, I decided to go ahead and resize everything because the nav bar looked really bloated in comparison to the What's Happenning? and Scratch News sections. The rest of my first post though still is open.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 13:06, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Your talk page looks fine, IMO. I wish you would make the image smaller, though. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 13:15, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
I was thinking about that, so I made it slightly smaller. You can look again if you want. ;)

Delete File:Badcomment.png

Try it right now. I think my theory may work and it might get deleted.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 22:48, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Nope. Still got "Error deleting file: Could not create directory 'mwstore://local-backend/local-deleted'." What is your theory, btw?
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 22:50, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
:(
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 22:51, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Your theory is if you act very pitiful, the file will be deleted? :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 22:52, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
No, it was that if the file was in use on a page, it might delete.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 23:05, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
That's what I thought. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 23:17, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
But I thought it first. :P
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 23:29, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Maybe the server does not have the correct permissions to edit the directory.

Deleting talk pages of deleted pages

If they're more than a month old, it's fine (encouraged).

Kay-kay.

Route 66

U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and colloquially known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926—with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both a hit song and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.
Route 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.

wikipedia: U.S. Route 66

Because it's historic.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:10, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

It is pretty long. :P
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 12:37, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
And also, I don't need a Wikipedia link for everything I put on my user page. Mostly, I'm just joking around. With this gag, I was playing around with the fact that, as far as I know, I have never been on Route 66. My personal favorite is Route 12, because it goes through my town with convenient interchanges.

Broward County?
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 01:22, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
I have no idea where that is. I live in Wisconsin.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 22:59, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
South Florida, i think. Do you live around there, CC? (It's OK if you don't want to say.)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:16, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
No, I looked it up on the Interweb.
