Please categorize new pages

It appears that when making the page Code Words, you did not include any categories. Please remember to categorize all new pages and files. Check out Help:Categories for details. Thanks!

Welcome!

Kenny2scratch logo.jpgWelcome to the Scratch Wiki! I look forward to the useful edits you'll make and hope you'll have fun here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page, where you can talk about the Wiki or even ask personal questions! If you need quick help with wiki markup, take a look at Scratch Wiki:Cheatsheet. You might want to go to Category:Articles to Expand to find pages that need editing. I get my inspiration from Special:RecentChanges however, so looking at that helps too. See you around, MClovers;

Of course, remember to sign with four tildas (~~~~) instead of only <scratchsig> tags. So that's how you reply on talk pages - it's pretty simple. Hope I helped!

Hello, MClovers! Welcome to the Scratch Wiki, and congratulations on getting accepted! My name is WolfCat67. I hope you can make the best of edits around this place, and make the wiki a more useful source of information than it already was. Nah, you just need to worry about WikiMonitor when you forget to sign your post, or don't categorize a brand-new image file or main page. :P I'm not sure what else it catches you for, but it does sometimes. Trust me, though, it's really hard to make lots of wiki edits without getting caught by that thing at least once.
WolfCat67 (talk | contribs) 04:49, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
The only things WM notifies you for are forgetting to sign your posts, forgetting to categorize new pages, or making too many edits to the same page in a short amount of time (excluding the sandbox and talk pages).

The first page I made, Code Words, WikiMonitor told me to categorize the pages. I read the help page and still had no idea what they meant.
MClovers (talk | contribs) 04:58, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
To add a category, you add [[Category:<category name>]] anywhere on the page.

Welcome to the Scratch Wiki!
Hey there! Welcome to the Scratch Wiki, MClovers! We are glad that you've decided to join us here! I'm Drunken_Sailor, and I'm here to answer any questions or queries you might have about the Wiki. You can message me on my Talk Page if you need help with anything on the Wiki, have a question you want to ask, or just to chat! :P

If you want to find pages to edit, then you could look at Articles to expand or Article stubs to find pages that you can improve. Alternatively, you could have a look at Innacurate articles to find places to add references. I also get my own inspiration from Special:Random.

Have great time on the Wiki! Hope to see you around making some great edits! Bye for now, MClovers!

July 5 Updates.

Your article July 5 Updates is going to have to be deleted most likely. It's a little too specific to merit an article. We can't have a separate article for every single update unfortunately. Information related to the Discuss being removed from the header is best added to the Discussion Forums article. Plus we already have a page on Tips. Sound good? :)

Talk Pages

When posting a new section on someone's talk page put it at the bottom instead of the top. Thanks! Also, if you want to save anything you wrote in the July 5 Updates article you can put it in a page called User:MClovers/Sandbox.

Some more about categorization

I know you seem to have been yelled at by WikiMonitor a bit about categorization, but you don't need to categorize user pages! (In fact, you shouldn't.) So could you remove the category from your sandbox? Thanks.

If you're curious what types of pages need categorization, it's basically all of them except:

  • User pages (User: namespace)
  • System messages (MediaWiki: namespace) (you can't edit those anyway)
  • Special pages (Special: namespace) (nobody can edit these)
  • Media: namespace (if you link to a filename with Media: you're linking to the actual file stored on the server instead of the file page)

Anything besides that needs to be categorized. Hope I helped!

P.S. There's no need to feel bad - there are plenty of other people who made the same mistakes.

Thanks, but my sandbox is a user page, so would it still count?
MClovers (talk | contribs) 05:42, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Since it's in the User: namespace, it does not need to be categorized - I'm asking for you to remove the category.
