Welcome!
Welcome to the Scratch Wiki. Also, talk pages can be used for anything, not just bad edits you made. Joletole (talk | contribs) 19:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
links on your pages
How come your pages have external links when you could easily do this [[User:KrIsMa]] and get KrIsMa and/or User talk:KrIsMa? Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 16:18, 27 October 2012(UTC)
- it is because I dont want the text to be User:KrIsMa I want the show text different.
header
Are you going to put your header on your userpage? Just put in {{User:KrIsMa/Header}} and get

- Hey! I was editing my page and then you posted just before me! I did it! I was not planning to put the Status box up, but I put an edit counter in my User Page! Thanks! Edit: I got an edit conflict :)

Templates subpage
Hey there, I see that you've got a templates subpage which lists all the current templates on the wiki. It is actually pretty well done, but it's unfortunately got a few problems. The first of these, most important, is that the page is getting categorised by templates, such as {{notUseful}}, which can be very confusing to wiki editors and sort of defeats the purpose of having such categories if they contain pages that don't belong in them. Additionally, the page isn't strictly necessary as we have the template category for listing and organising them.
I'm not entirely sure how to remedy this. From how I see it, there are only two options: deleting the page altogether, or converting it to a format in which it doesn't transclude the templates within the page and instead simply links to them. You may choose which you'd rather do. :)
Apologies for the interference, Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 00:51, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 02:57, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Curiouscrab, I reverted your edits. Please don't edit others' userpages without their permission; it may not be how they wanted to do it. In the case that they do, they can just undo my edit. However, you should follow the wiki's rules in the future.

- Sorry to come in, but you can add some parser stuff to the templates to allow
|cat=no
to not add the categories. I can do this if you like (as long as the pages aren't protected) or you can ask me how to.Ihaveamac (talk | contribs) 05:07, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Preview Button
Hey Krisma, I see you are making a large amount of edits on your template subpage. These edits are cluttering up the Recent Changes page and your edit count. To keep these edits to a minimum, please use the preview button located next to the submit button.
In addition, when leaving a message on someone's talk page, please don't add the warning image as this may make the user think that they have done something really bad, and may leave the wiki (and we don't want that).
Also, when adding your signature, you don't have to press enter before, you can just type it in right at the end of your last sentence. The format automatically pushes it down a line. If you do press enter, it leave an extra space that is unneeded.
(And yes, I really want to be an admin :))
I hope you keep these in mind in the future, and as always...Edit On! Joletole (talk | contribs) 00:26, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- 1. Ok i'll try to use preview more often.

What was that all about? I originally made that page for my sig that I have now because I didn't know how to make Scratch projects into sigs at the time. Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 01:57, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I do not understand. Why I did that is because you put that template up, and that means you want the page to get deleted. The category I "dinged" will get admin's attention (hopefully) so it can be deleted. Have a great day!

Red Links
I noticed in your welcome messages you purposely put red links. Instead, could you put the code <span style="color:red">TEXT</span>
? Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 17:48, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- Why is that preferable? Why did you replace a link on my talk page with that?

Mass editing to link articles to Blocks
Thanks for your commitment to the Scratch Wiki! Next time, though, if you see something inconsistent, it's best to bring it up on the Community Portal to see which way others want it. IMHO, I would have liked it not to link to blocks. Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 17:21, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks again for the reminder. I only did it because it was disturbing to me that blocks was linked to some articles, and not to others! (Again, I like thinks to be consistent cause I have OCD, which is ruining my life :( ) and I will totally tell the community portal! Thanks again!

Done. :)
I am not an admin, but I am an "experienced wikian", which does let me delete pages. The only difference I've noticed so far is that I can't protect or edit protected pages. jvvg (talk | contribs) 12:25, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Re: Dear bot owner
Thanks for letting me know. That shouldn't be a big issue with the nature of my bot, because it mostly looks at the frequency and distribution of edits, not the page contents itself. The only time it looks at page contents is checking whether a post on a talk page was signed, and I don't expect the nobot template to be added to talk pages. jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:59, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Suggestion for VoxBot
Can you program VoxBot to make all its edits minor ones? It kind of fills up the recent changes and makes it difficult to see what edits real people are making. Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 04:31, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. Sure, I will make it all minor!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 06:39, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Re: Test
I'm not worried about people trying to not be detected not signing their posts so much as accidentally notifying people that didn't do anything wrong. Thanks for offering, though. If you could edit some page a bunch of times (as in 10+ in under an hour), that would be great, though. If it works, you should find yourself with a notification from my bot pretty quickly. jvvg (talk | contribs) 19:34, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Re: I turnednit to false. Its telling everyone to sign their post. Thanks
I looked at the logs, and 4 out of the 5 notifications were sent correctly. On those edits, the posts were indeed not signed. Is it safe to re-enable it? jvvg (talk | contribs) 19:41, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- my posts were signed, though? I was worried it was broken. Sure, you can enable it!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 19:42, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- The only problem at the moment is that it doesn't detect if the user signs the post after-the-fact. However, given that it will detect it within 2 minutes from here on out, it should catch users before they notice, and even if they do fix it before my bot finds it, the message should arrive fast enough that the user understands. Also, the bot will not notify somebody twice for the same page. I am going to re-enable it now.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 19:44, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think I know the problem, it thinks I have not signed the post because I am using a customsig. That means, my revision user is not shown. Maybe, you could make it find UTC and / or the format used for signing posts (time, day month year)

Re: Is my bot running?
Yes, it is running. I haven't seen any log entries since I last started it (I think I finally prevented the session from timing out), and I also haven't seen any edits in person where people forgot to sign their post or made excessive edits to one page (10+ in 1 hour). jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:02, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Re: What Image Editor I use
- Believe it or not, I use Scratch. I open up a bitmap image in Scratch, convert it to vector, draw in any arrows with the anti-aliasing of vector, or add a vector mouse in, screenshot, open in MS paint, save as .png, and upload.
Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 15:02, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 15:06, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, I am very very quick and it takes about a minute an image. I already have the vector mouse in my backpack, and drawing arrows is easy. And haven't used Scratch for a long time :O but you edit the Scratch Wiki! Have you even used 2.0 much at all?

What language was your bot coded in?
I am definitely not planning on creating a bot, but just had a few questions to advance my knowledge, I guess. What language did you code it in? Also, what other languages can it be coded in? Once you got the code down, how do you physically put it into a running bot? Sorry for my novice questions :P Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 23:36, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- HIi!! no problem! I coded my bot in C#, it's like c++, but it is easier :)) jvvg's bot, for example, uses PHP, which I think is a bit easier :) it can be coded in programming languages that support the mediawiki libraries, such as php, . more information at Scratch Wiki:Bots! what I do is to run the bot, I open the application that i made with it, called scratchbot.exe, and then a customizable gui comes up and I edit the wiki on that :) i used a starter script to teach me how to make bots in python, and I just edited/ added lots of new stuff to the script to make it c# friendly!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 01:56, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! But how come you have to edit the wiki on the custom GUI? Also, how do you import the pages from the Wiki so the bot can read them, is it like an HTTP get request?
Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 21:45, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

It appears that when making the page Scratch Wiki:Experienced Wikians, you did not include any categories. Please remember to categorize all new pages and files. Thanks!
Please note that this message was sent by a bot. Please do not remove it or reply to it. If this message was sent incorrectly, please notify my owner, jvvg on his talk page.
Important: although your talk page has the {{NoBots}} template on it, an exception was added for your talk page to override it. See User:WikiMonitor#NoBots_override for details. WikiMonitor (talk | contribs) 00:35, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- I apologize for doing this. I needed to test my bot and that page was the only one in recent changes that fit the necessary details. Btw, do you have any suggestion for how to improve the message?
jvvg (talk | contribs) 00:37, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late responce, i thought i pressed save page! :( anyways i think that a asterisk next to the bot's unsername will help users differentiate a bot account and a user account! (it says it is a bot in the context, but i think a star next to the name will make people that don't read context know it's a bot!) ill post some more suggestions later! oh yeah, should I make my bot post on your talk page about problematic situations, such as which words are commonly linked to redirects? it might give you a bit of a hint on what your bot should look out for! :)
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 05:56, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- I just realized, if you exclude bots with nobot, doesn't that mean that people have to keep the WikiMonitor notifications on their talk page? I remember once, you told me that without the nobot template, the bot doesn't know if I got notified already, and if you delete the notification, it will give you another one!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 14:55, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- I can't really put an asterisk next to the name because then the signature template probably wouldn't work. Yes, people do have to keep WikiMonitor notifications until 500 changes have passed (normally a few days). The reason is that if my bot ever is turned off for any reason, it loses the list of edits it's already looked at (it's in a variable) and looks through all of the last 500 edits for anything that might trigger it. The notifications are the only persistent record.

When making a new section on a talk page, you can just press 'comment' in the edit toolbar dropdown. It also links directly to the new one, with a summary, so i don't have to go looking for where your post is. :) (hmm, thanks WikiMonitor :P) Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:00, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Recategorizing on move
I suggested this to jvvg for WikiMonitor, but he said it seemed more like something for VoxBot: User talk:Jvvg#WM recategorizing on move Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:05, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Since my bot activates when I tell it to, I would have to know about any category moves before I could get my bot to move all the pages parented to that category. However, I can make my bot do it!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 02:04, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- I think this is more of a WikiMonitor thing to do! My bot isn't on every day though :(

- If you do need to recategorize pages (and assuming User:jvvg wants voxbot to do it [which idk about because jvvg already made wikimonitor b]), you could add a task for voxbot by User:VoxBot/UBBF and voxbot will happily categorize pages!

I Have use of Your Bot
Remember we had your bot auto-link all those things in the articles? Here's one. Have it auto-link the word "users" (the first time it's seen in an article) to the article Scratcher. Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 03:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Great idea! Thank you! I will write a script for the bot tomorrow! :)

Username
Is your username supposed to sound like "charisma"? xP derpmeup (talk | contribs) 04:04, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- no, not at all! (very good guess though!!!!) my friends uncle first name is kris and his wives last name is ma, and I just concatenated the two words together and added some cool capitalization ;)

Can you add that jvvg is an admin on this page? Swampert11 (talk | contribs) 01:16, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Template:S
Remember how you pointed out that Template:S put a large space before your signature? For some reason, if you removed the space before the <br />, the gap disappeared. You can see that and a few other variations in the Scratch Wiki:Sandbox
This is quite odd. ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 23:41, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Oh yeah!! It's also weird for {{sqrt}} , when you put two templates together it somehow breaks lines and weird stuff happens!

Statistics
On your Statistics subpage, am I allowed to add some statistics to it? Thanks!

JayceeMinecraft user | talk | contributions 20:23, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
Really? I thought that you were one, I mean look at your thousands of edits!
Well there will probably be an election next month because I looked at some and there was one each year either in March, June or July, but it's late in June so it might be in July, and if there is, I will vote for you :) JayceeMinecraft user | talk | contributions 14:24, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

What do you have against redirects?
What's the point of relinking to avoid redirects? Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:31, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- so are you saying that you don't mind if a page links to a redirect page? Literally I am not sure why redirects exist especially when redirects are used "if a particular article is referred to by multiple names, or has .. alternate punctuation or spelling" when creating simple links to pages is so easy on the wiki now ;)
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 17:33, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- and plus, if you move the page, you will have to double the redirect
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 17:36, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- No, i really don't mind.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:33, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

The block Note (block), how would a note of higher value compare to a note of lower value, do you know? You're musical, so... Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 19:18, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- most likely to do with hertz, the measure of sound oscillation per second (one crest and one trough is equal to one oscillation) :) the higher the hertz, the higher the pitch :) I think humans can only hear 80-20000 hertz, range going down by age ;)

Userspace Rule
Hi! I noticed you hadn't changed the statistics page lately, so I added yesterday's. (Time zones). Just lettin' you know, because some people don't like it when others edit their userpages. If you're okay with it, let's move it into Namespace 5. Krett12 (talk | contribs) 13:46, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- thanks for adding a statistic in :) namespace 5 is actually File:, but if I move it to namespace 0 (main namespace) that would be kinda a duplicate of one of the special page :) and thank you for asking!

- And now I shall take advantage of the fact that you have not archived! So, look, the color for that is #FF0000. We have 0-9 to make 10 digits, then ABCDEF to make 16. So FF would be 16x16, which is 256. And we are looking at an RGB scale here. So there are 256 red colors, 256 green colors, and 256 blue colors. So red is on all the way, and green and blue are 100% off. Therefore, #FF0000 is the reddest you can make it.

If I could play your toccata... Imagine that. :)
But really nice piece KrIsMa! It has some really interesting moods and chords in it, and I really like the alternating sequence throughout the song. I give you a 6 out of 5! ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 22:46, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- thanks a ton! (yeah i do agree its a bit hard maybe i should make a easy version of it [but toccatas are really hard anyways lol]) :)
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 23:05, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- I just edit conflicted myself. Fun. :P
- I think the hardness and the melody of it are what make your toccata fun and unique. I don't think it would be the same song at an easier level.
- By the way, what program do you use to compress images?
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 23:53, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- i know i edit conflict myself too dont worry :) (ps i got edit conflicted by wikimonitor lol!
- oh and ok :) ill keep it this way (but maybe tempo slower? idk :)
- i use paint, net to get rid of unnecessary things (like anti-alias) then compress with pngout :)

- Edit conflicted by Wiki Monitor. Now that is funny!

- Anyway, do you know if pngout is available for Mac? I'm thinking it would be nice to get. (Edit: Yes it is! Download begins in 3... 2... 1...)
- Edit #2: How do you use pngout?
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 02:54, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- oh, just right click ur image waiting to be compressed, and then press "open with" then pngout (idk about mac though, sorry:(
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 03:23, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I can't do "open with", but on the bright side, I finally got it to try compressing an image... but I can't yet control what it compresses. In fact, it keeps on throwing an error about too many file names, but hopefully I'll get that resolved soon!
- (Do I owe you two dollars as well?)

Compression
How did you do that compression? :P derpmeup (talk | contribs) 00:34, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- oh, i use paint.net to remove all the extra fancy things from images, then use pngout to compress even more! :)
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 00:46, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- 1.) What do you do in paint.net? 2.) What's pngout? Sorry for asking so much, I just want to do some compressing. :3
derpmeup (talk | contribs) 01:30, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- lol ok :3 first you have to un-anti-alias the image, what i do is just select with the magic wand tool the background, set the tolerance so that the tool removes all the background and leaves some semi-transparent pixels, then either turn it to white or press delete and make it transparent. then, i download a software called pngout, open the image with pngout, then it pretty much compresses it a lot and it comes out with a better image!

Krett12 (talk | contribs) 03:47, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- oh ernieparke taught me a lot already :) the account request notes are hilarious!
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 03:48, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- I wish the rollback text was "COMPLETELY GOD RID OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF Krett12'S EDITS ON THIS PAGE". That would be cool.
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 03:50, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- On another wiki, for their request notes someone wrote "I want to be part of (wiki name censored since they don't enforce anti-swearing rules) so I can edit pages". Come on!

Can you please not patrol edits? Thank you!
jvvg uses edit patrolling to log which edits he has looked at and which he hasn't. So by patrolling them yourself, you are kinda screwin' things up. Krett12 (talk | contribs) 15:12, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
