Talk page

The purpose of the talk page is so other Wikians can contact you about something (as I am doing right now). So it's best not to wipe it clean or erase things other people post (when it gets long it is archived). If you want to play around with code and stuff, create a page called User:Kenny2scratch/Sandbox and you can do whatever you want in there. If you want to write about yourself, just edit your userpage, and you can answer questions about yourself there. Thanks!

Hello

I know that I am not an Admin or anything, but do you mind trying to have your conversations about users on their Scratch Profile? It is adding a lot to the Recent Changes.

A simple solution is to select (Main) in the namespace selection when viewing recent changes. I do this all the time since I see a lot of talk page editing (not just my edits).

I know, I made a fix that resizes the text in proportion to the div width on any browser. The message should stay within its container now.

That image was taken after you edited the font-size to 1vw. I'm also using chrome - windows edge seems to format it correctly. Please fix it such that it doesn't leave the container box.

I had to censor your message so that people in the future won't get curious about what happened, but I have dealt with the issue appropriately and emailed the ST asking them to follow up. Passphrase

Hi I made some edits on the password section of the wiki and you said it was confusing to read. I was trying to say a good password could be the first letter of each word in a passphrase. Could you please tell me in what part you saw that was confusing too you, and maybe help me out so I don't make a similar mistake again? Thanks

I eventually figured out what you meant after undoing your edit. You apparently didn't know that hitting Enter once after a line will

not line break. That is, this:

A Small Question

Hey! I was wondering what happens when you create an article. How does the article go into a category (ex. tutorial). Does it automatically appear? or do the editors have to add it. I just wanted to make sure before actually making one! Thanks!

Hi! When you create an article, you basically add content to a new name. For categories, you need to add it to the appropriate category yourself. You do this by typing [[Category:<appropriate category here>]] anywhere on the page. For example, if I made a platformer tutorial, I would type [[Category:Tutorials]], typically on the bottom of the page but anywhere works. If the page was about a feature of the Scratch website, I would put [[Category:Scratch Website]] in the page. You can further sort it within the category. If I made a page called "Template:Hello" and categorized it as "Templates", it would appear under the "T" section because of "Template". However, if I wanted to sort it under the "H" section, I could do this: [[Category:Templates|Hello]]. What comes after the pipe (|) is what you want the page to be sorted as. Hope I helped!

Oh, and to add multiple categories, you simply put all of them individually. If you had a page that is a template about the Scratch website, you could simply put [[Category:Templates]][[Category:Scratch Website]] to add it to both categories. Adding categories is important; WikiMonitor will notify you if you forget to add them to a new page.

Your Request Notes

Nevermind, I lied. I've been on here too long where mine are no longer stored but I found yours.

I would like to improve any pages I can, specifically the "Chatroom" article at https://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Chatroom by adding a tutorial for a safe chat. This would really act as a flashlight for Scratchers in the dark about how chatrooms work.
I have actually looked at wikis such as Wikipedia for some time, thinking how they could be improved.
Of course, all my edits/articles will follow the Scratch Wiki Guidelines and the Scratch Community Guidelines.

Sidebar

How do you make your sidebar appear on every page...? On my Sandbox, I made one using your sidebar, but it doesnt appear on every page.

I just included the sidebar in my header. As in, I put {{User:Kenny2scratch/Sidebar}} in a random place in the header's code.

FYI the bottom of your sidebar is cut off where it shows your total edits, Ken, at least on my screen. Some info, my resolution is 2560x1440p and I'm on Chrome.

HI! Thanks for the advice you gave me on my profile! I really appreciate it. Anyway. Firstly, I would like to talk about my grammar - I'm very sorry about my poor grammar. I'm a lot younger then most wiki contributors and i am still learning. I applied once for being a wikian and i was rejected. And the second time i tried i was accepted because i did my first application on my computer and my second on my tablet that picks up grammar errors - I hope you understand my case for my grammar, and i am sorry its so annoying. Secondly. You talked about the signature problem. I learnt that quickly even before you told me, But i thank you for your advice. Next, you talked about :::'s and i also learned that quickly as well, Finally you talked about my talk page changes - I'm sorry about that, I was just inspired by really cool user pages like yours and that's when i went a bit crazy. Don't feel bad! I didn't mean to be so harsh. I wanted to make my point clearer. Grammar is important. I'm glad you've learned how to sign and post properly, too!

For your talk page, I'm glad you have changed that. Moderation is important.

As for your late reply, that's perfectly ok. I'm going on vacation in a month or two and I don't really expect to be able to be very active.

TL, DR: Don't feel bad, I realize I was overly harsh. Thank you for understanding what I wanted, though, and please do try to improve. As for replying late, that's perfectly fine; I'm in no hurry.

IMHO bad grammar is not really a problem with being a Wiki editor. Grammar is easy to fix, I think if people can contribute with great ideas and explanation and others can quickly sweep in and clean up the grammar everything will be dandy.

To sum up the wiki's progress as of now, though, mediawiki is set up, I'm a bureaucrat

(protecting pages is fun) along with one of my schoolmates who will run the wiki with me, and I'm trying to get the wiki publicly hosted on my school's servers (my IT teacher already likes the idea).

Yes, your grammar is wrong. I suggest you don't rely on Grammarly to help you keep your grammar straight, you should learn grammar yourself and use it.
