Bot mentioned rule breaking content

Over [[1]], your bot mentioned an article with a title not ok for scratch. I'm letting you know. I didn't remove it because it's not something that will scar people for life, it's just not okay to name browser extensions on Scratch.
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribs (2,514)profile 21:56, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I removed the title. I am not going to censor the revision however since I don't think it's a major enough policy/guideline violation to warrant that.

The captcha isn’t working

Sorry to contact you about this. It's not exactly related to the wiki. But I need your help. My school iPad blocks just about everything. I tried signing into one of my alts, and I accidentally misspelled my long password multiple times. I got onto the captcha page, but it's not loading! (Sorry if this image is kind of big. I don't have a compression site.) SliverusNoCaptcha.jpeg It says to enter the test below, but there is no text below because it's not loading on my iPad. I tried waiting it out, and nothing's happening. What do I do?
SSB Icon New.png Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 16:25, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

I really have no idea unfortunately. I have never had this happen to me. Since you mention the iPad blocks a lot of stuff, it's possible that the site hosting the captcha is blocked, but this is only speculation.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 16:53, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay, thanks anyway. I'm going to just wait and see if the captcha expires at some point.
SSB Icon New.png Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 16:58, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

I undid your revision

I undid your revision that removed "multiple consectutive "o"s" because accounts like "adhdjfnoooooooooo" are not taken AND not allowed.
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribs (2,514)profile 20:35, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Oh, interesting. I wonder what the reasoning for that is. Maybe it's for testing or something.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:22, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Thoughts?

What do you think about this? User:ThisIsAnAccount#Contact_the_owner There's a google form link which collects my email if I go to fill it out. That's not allowed anymore, is it?
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribs (2,514)profile 11:47, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

I think that was created before the ST specifically banned Google Forms. The bot owner is inactive these days so I'll remove it; anyone that really needs to contact them can use their talk page or Scratch profile.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:43, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

That text you relobed from aoembodies sandbox wasn't personal info. It's a well known name from an internet prank.

SpaghettiAG852097- (talk | contribs) 23:59, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
What is the question?
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:35, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
So, i was looking at the test wiki https://test.scratch-wiki.info/ (its a little hard to explain since its in a different language) and in the "translate-about" section theres the language tamil (தமிழ்) which is the language i speak so i just wanted to look at it so i clicked it. But when i click "தமிழ்" instead of bringing up the tamil wiki or something its bringing up chinese for some reason. Just wanted to let you know.
SpaghettiAG852097- (talk | contribs) 23:06, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Hello, I've noticed that there's a small mistake in the template. The issue should be fixed as of now. (If not, refresh the page with CTRL+F5)
Also, feel free to request an account on the Test Wiki! It's definitely great to see more people and more languages thriving on it!

9 o username

i saw on the create account page https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Creating_an_Account that it said you couldnt create an account with more than 9 o's. Just wanted to ask why.

edit: I KEEP FORGETING TO SIGN MY SIGNATURE AND IT WONT LET ME ADD IT COS I HAVE TO WAIT 18O SECONDS now i'm gonna get another alert from WikiMonitor i already have 6 T^T
SpaghettiAG852097- (talk | contribs) 01:24, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

I don't know the reasoning, but I empirically tested this against the username validation endpoint and was able to confirm.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 17:36, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
Ok. i's just weird that you cant create a username with 9 o's. It could just be a bug or something. i tried creating an account with the word "pizza" like a month ago and it said "username not allowed" so i put it on the disscussion fourms and they said it was a bug and they fixed it and now you can create one with "pizza" in it

Question

Dear Jvvg,

I am wondering if you can give me the wikitext for the navigation bar, which I would love to implement in my wiki page
Scratch_hellopizza (talk | contribs) 04:16, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

If you mean the navbar at the top ("Create", "Explore", ...) that's not wikitext, that's defined in code, available here. If you mean the "Navigation" section to the left, we render it here but the actual contents are defined in interface text. For example, the "Current Events" text and the "Current Events" link target.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 04:30, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

does the scratch wiki use php? Sincerely,

Yes, the Scratch Wiki is open source. It's powered by MediaWiki and runs on a number of extensions listed here. You can see all the ones purpose-built for the Scratch Wiki at our GitHub organization. Both MediaWiki itself and all of our extensions are built in PHP.

WikiMonitor

Hello Jvvg!

I was editing the wiki, when I noticed that WikiMonitor has not cleared the sandbox yet. It has been 18 hours and WikiMonitor has not cleared the sandbox. It usually clears every 4 hours. Thanks
SpaghettiAG852097- Logo2.gif SpaghettiAG852097- talkcontribsprofile 02:20, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Also, the edit that the user made in the sandbox was made on Visual Editor so it could maybe be a problem with the upgrade and visual editor because before the upgrade it worked fine.
SpaghettiAG852097- Logo2.gif SpaghettiAG852097- talkcontribsprofile 02:22, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

SpaghettiAG852097- Logo2.gif SpaghettiAG852097- talkcontribsprofile 03:50, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
It means that it was made with Visual Editor unless it says "(Tag: Visual Edit: Switched). If it says switched then it means that it was source editor
SpaghettiAG852097- Logo2.gif SpaghettiAG852097- talkcontribsprofile 03:53, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
Its not only a problem with clearing sandbox, WikiMonitor is COMPLETELY not working! I made a test unsigned post and I got no alert. But the user:WikiMonitor/Disable is still true.
SpaghettiAG852097- Logo2.gif SpaghettiAG852097- talkcontribsprofile 03:30, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Believe it or not, WikiMonitor functioned exactly as intended when it didn't notify you for the unsigned post. I checked the logs and it registered the unsigned post, but it gives you three minutes to add a signature in case you realize you forgot right after saving, and it looks like you did add a signature within three minutes.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 03:57, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Oh, thats nice that it gives you time to add your signature! But it did not clear the sandbox yet and it has been 2 whole days

Weirdly enough I see the log entries for making the edit but it's not going through. Most likely the version upgrade obsoleted the APIs it needed. I'll have to look into that.

Please remember to sign your posts

Hello, I'm WikiMonitor, a bot that patrols the Recent Changes. This is just a friendly reminder that it appears you forgot to sign your post in revision 321741 of User talk:Jvvg/sandbox. Please fix this by adding four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post to insert your signature and remember to sign your posts in the future. Signing your posts is important as it allows other Wikians to see who made a post. Thanks!

If you have any questions about this, please check out the FAQs.

Note: if you were making an edit to a talk page that wasn't actually a message, in the future you can mark it as minor to avoid a notification.

This message was sent by an automated bot run by jvvg. You can contact him on his talk page with any concerns.

Why is the page protected to Wikians and above, even though New Wikians can't edit userpages? Was {{open userpage}} on the page at some point?
2tables (talk | contribs) 16:29, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

The page was protected prior to the existence of the restriction on New Wikians being able to edit userpages. At this point the protection is purely symbolic, but gives yet another warning message when attempting to edit it, and is another safeguard in case there is a bug in the userspace restriction.

wikimonitor warning template?

Should we make template WikiMonitor warnings instead of just importing the source code? For example:

  • {{User:WikiMonitor/Warnings/Unsigned}} for unsigned posts
  • {{User:WikiMonitor/Warnings/Uncategorized}} for new pages that are uncategorized

2tables (talk | contribs) 20:37, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

There is minimal benefit to doing this, and it means that if we ever change the template all previous messages will suddenly change.

Is my signature okay? I know it uses a border, but i've seen many others like mine.
2tables (talk | contribs) 12:53, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Per the custom signature rules, "[your] signature may not contain any background colors, other images, or borders." I think maybe we can relax the rule a bit, but as the rule currently stands you are out of compliance.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 00:06, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

I didn’t know you didn’t want the 429 page

I’m sorry for adding a 429 wiki page, but I feel like some people want to know more about this page, like the 429 link, where the project came from, or the pictures. I feel like the 429 should have a page, but this is coming from a inexperienced user so you will probably say no, I hope you have a great day anyways.
Mariofan4820 (talk | contribs) 00:07, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Mariofan4820

I'm not saying we shouldn't document it at all, but I don't think it's a big enough thing that it deserves its own page. That's why I think it's good to have as a section of Error and have the page "429 Error" redirect to it. That way it gets documented and can easily be searched, but we avoid having a full-fledged article for a fairly minor thing.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:38, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
But why is there all the other error codes except that one?

Change the WikiMonitor border to purple (maybe)

So, currently WikiMonitor has a blue outlines for messages. The Scratch Team changed most of the colors on the site (links, navbar, etc..) from blue to purple. Along with this, many users have changed their signatures/pfp to reflect the change. So, could there possibly be a chance the border on WM notificatoins turns purple? Or does it not matter as much?

Why are there only about 2000 users on the Scratch Wiki when there are over 100 million users registered on Scratch?

At the time of writing, there were 2379 users on the Scratch Wiki, and according to the Scratch Statistics, there are 111668277 users registered. Using a calculator, the percentage of users on Scratch that registered for the Scratch Wiki is about 0.000213%. Why is this the case?
Ilikecereal1 (talk | contribs) 04:43, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

There are some factors contributing to this situation:
  • The wiki is a selective place, requiring users to request an account and be approved rather than automatic registration;
  • Multiple accounts and banned users are not allowed in the Wiki,
  • Not all Scratch users are English speakers, and
  • There always are only a limited amount of users interested in the Wiki within Scratch community.

Quite simply you have to request an account for the English Wiki, and the vast majority of users have not done that.

How is my edit "naming and shaming?"

In the article Project Tags, all I did was provide an example of a project with spam tags. How is that "naming and shaming?" I'm confused.
Cutebross260IsBack (talk | contribs) 05:07, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Spamming irrelevant tags is generally considered to be bad behavior, and you are linking to a specific project that exhibits that bad behavior, which could draw negative attention to the user who posted it.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 14:29, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
Well, the user who originally made this project is not on Scratch anymore so therefore they wouldn't get negative attention. Then again, I wouldn't want The_Scratch_Archive to get this treatment either because they've managed to recover dead links for projects that used to be on the Scratch Wiki. I'll leave "Project Tags" as it is, in that case.
Cutebross260IsBack (talk | contribs) 16:08, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if the user is on Scratch or not, it's still a violation of Community Guidelines.

You deleted the page i created "No Scratch November"

you deleted the page i created and said it was a joke page even though everything was factual. Also was wondering if im allowed to recreate the page. Also type "no scratch november" in the comments of my scratch profile if you saw this please.
Iw131 (talk | contribs) 21:42, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

No, you may not re-create the page. It does not refer to anything notable on Scratch that fits our Wiki guidelines.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 22:17, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
How is it not notable and how is it against the guidelines, you have an entire article about kaj, how is that not against the guidelines, also the entire kaj account was a joke he didnt actually hack anything, even though you're saying that no scratch november is a joke even though it is not. the censorbot literally censors the phrase, no scratch november.
Iw131 (talk | contribs) 00:27, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
The article about kaj is an exception to our normal rules since back in the 1.x days, there were a lot of rumors spread about kaj and users pretending to be them, and they played a large role in Scratch culture (to the point of being included in an an announcement and April Fools' joke). Had kaj simply threatened to hack people and then been banned, then there would not be an article about them. Meanwhile, I have never once seen "No Scratch November" mentioned on the Scratch website, and the fact that it is censored is not sufficient reason to include it; there are hundreds of things that are censored that we do not document since there is no documentation or educational value in doing so.

Two version of the block shape images

There seems to be two images for the block shapes that share the exact same purpose. One is found on the block shape articles themselves (such as The shape of a C Block SVG.svg) and another version on the Blocks article (such as C block grey.svg). Do you think we should keep the black version or the gray version?
Ametz807 (talk | contribs) 21:33, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

The gray one came first, so probably that one.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:39, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
Do you have any preference over the color?
Ametz807 (talk | contribs) 22:27, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
I prefer the gray one solely because it shows up better in both dark and light mode, whereas the black one completely disappears in dark mode.

Scratch 0.x pages

There are currently 15 Scratch 0.x pages on the Wiki (plus an extra one that's a work in progress), although there are many more 0.x versions. However, making a page for every single 0.x version would be unfeasible and pointless since there are over 100 0.x versions that have been discovered. I suggest that pages should be made for versions in a specific time frame (for example, "Scratch versions from April to June of 2006") rather than pages for specific versions. What do you think of this idea?

Hi Jvvg

Can I ask you a question?

Like, the bot Template something is always zipping files up for me, compressing them online, but is there a way to make Scratch Wiki allow auto-compressing? Since compressing manually is difficult, maybe Scratch Wiki can embed an automated compresser can compress up files automatically every upload, so new uploads won't get a message "You didn't zip it!" in my talk?

Just a little suggestion. I guess that would make wiki editing easier.

Thank you!

Could you please explain in a bit more detail what you're trying to do?
jvvg (talk | contribs) 13:59, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
What I'm trying to do is add a reference on my "Some fun info about me" section on my userpage as I have a Image gallary on my userpage with a image of my favorite sport card and I'm trying to see there is a way to make a reference on my userpage on the fun info that talks about my favorite card so when you click on the reference, it would take you to the Image Gallery section of my page at the picture of what my favorite sport card looks like on my userpage
Codeingit (talk | contribs) 14:07, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
I suppose you could do something like this: <ref>[[#Section With Media Gallery|media gallery]]</ref> - what that would do is create a reference that's a link to whatever section you put the media gallery in.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:24, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Question about being a railroad museum volunteer

What is it really like being a volunteer for a railroad museum?
Codeingit (talk | contribs) 15:02, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

That's a pretty broad question. My primary responsibilities are operating trains and being a tour guide of sorts (while the train moves, I explain to people the history of the train, our railroad, etc.) I also am involved in all sorts of miscellaneous work, such as helping set up and tear down props for events, running the cash register where we sell tickets, maintaining the website, etc. Is there anything more specific you want to know?
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:10, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
Yeah. I would like to know more about operating trains and being a tour guide for the train ride.
Codeingit (talk | contribs) 15:20, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
What specifically do you want to know? The details vary a lot by museum.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:29, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I specifically want to know how do you operate the trains, as well as how do the tour guides remember the history of the train so that they are able to tell people about the history of the train.
Codeingit (talk | contribs) 15:43, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
Most of operating the trains is just moving them around, similar to driving a car but without steering. The trains are electric, so we have one controller for the motor, and another for the brakes (they use air brakes which work a little differently than car brakes, which takes a bit of getting used to). I also have to make sure switches are aligned, coordinate train movements with the dispatcher, set up the trains in the morning and shut them down in the evenings. I learned about the history of our railroad from a combination of talking with other museum volunteers, books, and the internet. I have a speech prepared that I give with the most important and exciting details of the train cars and the rails they ran on, though I do try to tailor it to the specific crowd (for example for a smaller group I will make it more interactive).

Codeingit (talk | contribs) 20:45, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Since those features were discontinued before the change to purple, there is no need to change them. In fact, they should stay as-is to reflect how they looked when they were last part of Scratch.

Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 17:10, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

You can, but generally there isn't much of a reason to do it.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 17:34, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
Plenty of pages benefit from this, like in List of Block Workarounds, where a link can remove the need to add a {{see also}} template. I'm asking because the editing convention specifically asks to not use it, and if it's not because of some technical reason, I feel like it should be removed, or should at least be reworded.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 17:42, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
Most of the time it's a better idea to put the link in the text under the heading. It can be confusing for there to be a link in the heading itself.

Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 23:24, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

I don't know how else one would style them, so I guess so.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:26, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
I'm asking because at least two people have switched an article on experimental control blocks to 3.0-style scratchblocks.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 02:28, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
The general rule is you should use the blocks style closest to what version the block would have appeared in. If the block would have appeared in 1.x or 2.0 and not in 3.0, or in any development version of any of those versions, then use 2.0 style.

The Tricky Part Here Is Blocks That *Do* Appear In 3.0, But Aren't In The Block Palette. The Specific One In Question Here Is Incr Counter (block).
Mrsrec (talk | contribs) 09:45, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I'm asking because the Counter (block) shows up as "noop" (which I'm assuming means no opcode) due to a bug, should this article be called "Noop (block)"?.

Also, hidden blocks are generally supposed to use the version they appeared in (for example, Set Instrument to () (number input block) uses 2.0-style scratchblocks because it appeared in the block palette of Scratch 1.4 but not Scratch 3.0's block palette), but the really tricky part is that the experimental counter blocks never appeared in any Scratch version. Articles like the Loud? (block) say that they've been removed in Scratch 3.0 because you can't find it in the block palette, even though yes, technically it's still is in Scratch 3.0 (just requires a small modification to the project.json).

Based on "you should use the blocks style closest to what version the block would have appeared in", I'm assuming the article is supposed to use 2.0-style since the blocks were probably meant from Scratch 2.0, although thinking about it, the {{obsolete feature}} template doesn't make much sense since it was never a feature to being with.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 11:11, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

In My Opinion, It Should Count As Existing In 3.0 Because, Well-- It Exists In 3.0! Sure, It's Not In The Block Palette-- But It's There. Bonus Points If It Works. And It Has Been Used In Some Projects Like This. Even Though They Were Only Part Of 2.0 Alpha, They Were Kept, And Even Remade When Scratch Was Rewritten From The Ground Up, For Backwards Compatibility.

Darker background

Can you make the background on the Template:Thankyou template darker? The text is barely visible on dark mode.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 01:10, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

I opted to force the text dark instead. That way the template looks the same on light and dark mode. Further work is necessary on my end to get templates in general to work in dark mode.

508 errors.

You may add a ip checker, So if there ip is something thats not allowed then it blocks them. By this i mean blocking all search bot's ip's. Theres been times when search bots have made websites go down. Tiktok is famous for there search bot taking websites down. You may be able to get the ip's by searching them up, or using a ip logger and see how much activity they did. Though i do not recommend that. I hope this helps. Also how do i do something that kenny did? like the right/left side of the screen theres custom css or something? Do you know how i can do that. And i pefer to be messaged through my talk page!
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 14:03, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Believe it or not, IP blocking is part of the mitigation steps I have been implementing. You can ask kenny2scratch about how to do the custom sidebar, I have never done anything like that myself.

April Fools

Hello,

S:NOAF Does Not Allow Talk Pages Besides The Community Portal. The Scratch Wiki:Bot Requests Page, While In The Project Namespace, Is Functionally A Talk Page.

(I Personally Don't Think The Community Portal Should Be Allowed Either, But I Did Not Make The Rules).
Mrsrec (talk | contribs) 23:49, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

At least for the purposes of April Fools' Day, since the Bot Requests page is not in the talk namespace, it is not considered a talk page. If you think it shouldn't have an April Fools' Day article and should be specifically listed on the list of disallowed articles, feel free to bring it up on the Community Portal.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 00:01, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
In My Opinion That's Just A Technicality And It Still Operates Like A Talk Page (Plus, The Same Logic Would Apply; Makes The Page Hard To Use And Unlikely To Be Seen By Readers). But If It's Not Deleted It's Not Really A Big Deal. There Are Plenty Of Policies I Don't Agree With But It Can Never Have Everything Work For Everyone, So I Don't Mind Just Moving On If You Don't Want To Delete It.

A question about Template:Thankyou

I was wondering what does Template:Thankyou do and how do you use it?
Codeingit (talk | contribs) 19:40, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

It's something you use in discussions simply to say thank you. See the documentation for an example of how it can be used. I'm not really sure why it was made into a template (rather than users just saying "Thank you"), but that's the use case.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:03, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

was the wikian time removed?

So i recently became a wikian and i was wondering why theres not a 400 sec edit count or whatever it is... Is it because i have became a wikian or you removed it without notice... Both ways it have made my life MUCH better...
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 18:05, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

The edit throttling is just in place for New Wikians. There is currently no restriction in place for Wikians; we have considered adding one and if we ever do it will be much shorter than the one for New Wikians.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 18:14, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
ok ty, also do userspace rules apply to a users sandbox? in my welcome message i say you can edit my sandbox... Sould i add the 'open userpage' template? to my sandbox?
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 18:22, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Yes, userspace rules apply to sandboxes (and all other subpages of userpages). Adding the open userpage template would help avoid any confusion about that.

Wait, you can do <center> instead of doing css code? such as this

css code is awesome

center may be better
you can see the code in source...
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 14:40, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── The <center> tag is deprecated and not supported in HTML5. You should use CSS instead.

actually, on the Wiki Sandbox, can i start a <div> at the very start with some css code? like this: <div style="cursor: progress;">. So if someone goes onto it, It will show a loading sign?

Block Template Image Size

How do you change the size of the block here? It's quite big and I don't know how to fix it.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 02:43, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

The template as it existed didn't support image sizing, so I modified it to support it. Now you can add the image_size parameter.

so, scratch wiki runs on php? Can you goto the config file and add code like this?

"

error_reporting(E_ALL);

ini_set('display_errors', 1);

"

And it will show the errors when it crashes?
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 21:59, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

We intentionally have this disabled, and industry best practice is not to have this enabled on a production site. We only enable it when debugging issues, though errors are logged where we can see them.

Capital letter where there is none in my username

My Scratch username is co0lcr34t10ns, yet it shows with a capital c at the beginning, as Co0lcr34t10ns. Why is this happening, and is there any way to change it? I only just joined the wiki, and this was not in the FAQ.
Co0lcr34t10ns (talk | contribs) 23:18, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

MediaWiki Requires Usernames To Be Capital. Jvvg's Username Is Capital Even Though It's jvvg On Scratch. My Username Is Also Capital, Though In My Case I Asked For One As My Username On Other Sites Is Also Capitalized. There's No Option To Lowercase It, Though I Agree This Should Be In The Instructions.

sould this template be on this page?

so i went onto the April_Fools'_Day page and saw it had a april fools day version, I went to it (Scratch_Wiki:April_Fools/April_Fools'_Day) and saw it had {{../Template:NotUseful|date=April 2023}}, its a AF page, does it need 'Template:NotUseful'?

Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 19:03, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Double open userpage

The page User:Sharkode/The_Forum_Helpers has two open userpage tags (one on the top of the thread, and one on the bottom). I tried removing the one at the bottom, but my action was blocked because I don't own the userpage and am not allowed to remove an open userpage tag.

It states that only the owner of the userpage can remove the tag. However, the owner is scarcely active on Scratch and even less on the wiki, and I feel like it might take a while to get them to fix it.

Is it possible that you could fix this? Thank you for your time.
SSB Icon New.png Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 23:41, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Ultimately it doesn't actually affect anything on a technical level if there are two open userpage tags, and it's possible the page owner has a legitimate reason for both of them being there (such as for emphasis).

Please remember to sign your posts

Hello, I'm WikiMonitor, a bot that patrols the Recent Changes. This is just a friendly reminder that it appears you forgot to sign your post in revision 334197 of User talk:Jvvg/Essays/Your rights on Scratch.

Hey jvvg, i did some testing with the media wiki, on my own webserver and i could not recreate the 508 error, this wiki runs on php, so i think there is a way to debug crashes, and/or, could someone make a page that crashes the wiki? it is prob a loop.

WikiMonitor suggestion

Maybe add a function to WikiMonitor that automatically removes the current FPC in Curator (front page)/Future Curators, since that is supposed to only contain the future curators and not the current one. This can also be automated quite easily and uncontroversially.

Block name overlap

How should the Play Drum () for () Beats (number input block) block be disambiguated from the Play Drum () for () Beats (block)? The name I came up with (number input block) was a pretty terrible one, since they both had the same type of input in 1.4 and 2.0.
Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 15:01, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

Not Jvvg here. I am by far not an experienced editor, I don't even know how I got into thankful thursday, but I will suggest an idea. I would maybe put a (2.0 block) note, which would be clearer. Don't take my word for it, but an idea.
Co0lcr34t10ns (talk | contribs) 00:49, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
@Gdxfor The precedent seems to be that format, with Set Pen Color to () (number input block) and Set Instrument to () (number input block) also being examples I can find. I personally thing disambiguating titles by versions would be better, but this is probably better a matter for a more general discussion forum like the Community Portal than my talk page.

SDS studio automation?

idk if this is a good title or not? But at Scratch_Design_Studio/Studios im pretty sure the studios are put there manually i can see that becoming a big hassle, so im wondering, i seen a previous comment say something about automation, im wondering if its possible to add it automatically? With love,
Mooaus2940 (talk | contribs) 19:27, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Yes, they are put there manually. It would be a bit more difficult to automate than the curator since it needs to know the right place to truncate the description. It's not much of a priority since it's a lot less frequent than the curator.

vandalism?

Has vandalism ever happened on the wiki,if so, where and when? What are the most vandalized pages? I want to revert any I see.
-unsigned comment by Elithecoder12345 (talk | contribs)

@Elithecoder12345: Yes, vandalism has occurred on the Wiki. It's not common, but does happen occasionally. I'm not going to provide any specific examples to avoid drawing attention to it. There also aren't really any "most vandalized pages" since vandalism is already very rare to begin with and generally people target pages out of opportunity.
