I guess I'm not so cool, then. I ran 10 miles this morning, so apparently I don't have better things to do. jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:28, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- To me, it sounds like: 10 miles of coolness. I'd like to run 10 miles every morning. ;)
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 21:34, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Today it actually was coolness. Normally it's burning hot here (all year round basically) but it was low 70s today. Sadly, it's back in the 80s tomorrow.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:36, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Also, normally I don't run 10 miles (usually just once a week). I generally do 2 workouts (the total distance being between 5 and 8 miles), 2 easy runs (6-8 miles), 1 race (3 miles + 2 miles for warm-up/cool-down), and 1 long run (10-12 miles). The best long run I've ever done actually started about two blocks away from the Scratch HQ.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 21:38, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- jvvg old: I get the pun! For me it's 57 degrees fahrenheit today. Once winter hits.... it'll be close to 10 degrees fahrenheit. Bur. I even have to walk through school in these temperatures.
- jvvg new: Oo! So you've run by the Scratch HQ a few times before? That sounds like lots of fun! I wish I could have joined you on that run.

Last week, I did a 20x400 workout, each 400 meters (~1/4 mile) being 80 seconds or faster. I have another race on Wednesday. jvvg (talk | contribs) 11:40, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Subways?!
I love subways too. I live in a city that doesn't have one but they are super cool! Do you know of any websites that have articles about them? -PRO- (talk | contribs) 20:07, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- If you want to read tidbits about the subway in DC, read this blog. http://nycsubway.org also has lots of cool stuff, including stuff about subways not in NYC. Otherwise, I mostly read Wikipedia. The city in which I live also doesn't have any form of subway or light rail (although we recently got a commuter rail line). One of my goals in life is to live in a city that does have a good rapid transit system (I'm considering DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, although there are 15 heavy rail systems in the USA, 12 of which are not in/near NYC).
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:13, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- I want to be a computer programmer and I think I would end up living in those cities. Also Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota has a good light rail, bus system.
-PRO- (talk | contribs) 20:16, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:33, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- @jvvg: Really? I didn't think Chicago had one. Anyway, D.C. does sound like a nice place to live. You've been to D.C.?
- @scimonster: That is an awesome poster!
-PRO- (talk | contribs) 20:33, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- There's no light rail in Chicago, I meant they all have either light rail and/or heavy rail. DC also doesn't have light rail, although they're getting it later this year.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:36, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- I've been to DC before, the museums are pretty cool and the White House. I was surprised at the lack of security around the White House when I visited.

They can still be a lot cheaper than driving. jvvg (talk | contribs) 11:39, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Very true. They can be faster too. I wish we still had passenger trains in the US. I know there are a couple but I love trains and light rails and stuff like that.

Big request
Hi! I know this is a tiny bit of a lot to do, but I would like to request a page to be protected and some pages to be deleted. These are some subpages that I've made either a while ago, or ones that I've made recently that really have no point - and I would like these pages to be deleted:
- User:derpmeup/InProgress (never used and probably never will be)
- User:derpmeup/UnScratchWiki FAQ Pages (as we use the afwiki.futuresight.org now)
- User:derpmeup/common.css (it was a small test)
- User:derpmeup/Sandbox4 (created for a one time use only)
- User:derpmeup/Talk About Music (nobody gets the new messages note so it would be hard to use without it being on an actual talk page)
- User:derpmeup/Odometer (originally for a template that later got deleted)
Also, can you protect this page? Sorry that this is kind of a big request, but thanks anyways! derpmeup (talk | contribs) 23:40, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

New article
hi I am new how do you make a article ?? Cool-d1234 (talk | contribs) 00:28, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
Tweaker
I know you don't want duplicates, but an admin should be enforcing the don't remove messages thing, not fighting it. Please--I want tweaker's topic back. Krett12 (talk | contribs) 00:59, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- I said several times that 1. Tweaker does not have permission to do any tasks it was not specifically given permission to and 2. Tweaker is not the arbiter of the election. By making that announcement, you violated both of those rules. You started running Tweaker for the election without permission, and we only agreed to it after the fact because it was already running and you already posted the messages. If you do anything (seriously anything) else with Tweaker without permission from the Wiki community, it will be blocked.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 01:03, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- Geez, okay, fine. But can I still have my topic back? BTW, that means I should ask about using it for no-red.....
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 01:04, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- Most of the community has already disagreed with no-red, anyways
derpmeup (talk | contribs) 01:05, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- NoRed was the same circumstances as I described above, we only sort-of agreed to it because you already started and we couldn't undo it. However, this does not mean we need any more nored, so please do not use Tweaker for it.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 01:05, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- Fine, all my noredding can show up in RC and get you all angry, fine by me.
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 01:06, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- you're saying that if tweaker edits even once, the bot will be blocked?
KrIsMa user | talk | contribs | edits 01:08, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- My point was more along the lines of don't no-red at all anymore. Anyway, please remember the bold rule: before doing anything bold, ask about it. @KrIsMa: yes. It was only actually approved to be a temporary replacement for WM, and as such should only be used for that. I don't use WM for anything except the intended purpose and a few test edits, and the test edits don't actually affect any pages.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 01:09, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

You also keep telling people to ask you, rather than an actual EW or admin, for help on how to use the EW/admin stuff. In addition, you were insisting that election stuff was only official when Tweaker said so, rather than when someone actually coordinating the election said so.

- Um, not really. jvvg doesn't want to host it, and I was hosting it, but I don't want to use my own computer, and I don't have a credit card so I can't use paid hosting, free hosting sucks, and my parents won't host it for me. I tried talking to the DACH people but they wouldn't meet our needs. ZaharaMar, if you can provide 1 FTP account and 1 MySQL database, you will be my hero. And if you don't know what FTP or MySQL is, then you probably don't have enough computer experience to do this. Just ask {{PAGENAME}}. And by {{PAGENAME}} I mean Jvvg/Archive 11

- But then I won't get my screenshot :(. BTW, I didn't mean in the queue, can you comment that on my profile? That it was rejected 'cause of the jelly donut thing (the exact one is in the notes)

You are online

I Accepted My Fist Account Request
So I checkout User:Renthor and made his account! I just want to make sure I did everything correctly (hopefully I did not screw up badly in the review process). I looked at how long he has been on Scratch, checked his activity (which is very high actually), he has a good reputation, makes wonderful art, and has a good honest reasoning for wanting to join the Wiki. Then I told him on his profile his account was accepted. Tell me if I did something wrong! Turkey3 (talk | contribs) 01:33, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not an EW, so I'm not perfect on this, but I do know that you shouldn't accept a user because they made good art.
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 02:20, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but it is a sign of skill with Scratch, which you need to have at least a bit of to be accepted. ;)

- You can make art in any program and then import it into Scratch. They could've drawn it on paper; they don't even have to be good with computers.

That is what I do, I use Inkscape :PWell - I guess it was a bit unnecessary, but I think he was just saying that as a compliment rather than a thing that he based accepting on.derpmeup (talk | contribs) 02:27, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- turkey3, we don't know what the request notes are because they were purged, but i can say that you were supposed to use [2] because it has some important links (im sure that if you incorporate those links into a custom message it would work too)

Just for future reference, here are they key things to look for:
- Obvious criteria (registration date, not a New Scratcher, any recent activity, etc.)
- Do request notes name specific stuff (i.e. specific articles/types of articles)
- Did user specifically say that he/she read S:CONTRIB (it's a little trap I put in)
- Oops, I erased your timestamp and I'm too lazy to bring it back.
About the trap thing, I'm not so sure it's gonna work.
You see, where you placed lists stuff that we highly recommend that the user does.
And if the user wants to seem smart, they will claim they did it all on their own, not they used a help page. Krett12 (talk | contribs) 12:06, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- It specifically says that your request will be rejected if you don't say that, and on the request account page you check a box saying you read it.
