Hey Splatoon3lover4 (talk | contribs)
Mistake in Welcome! tutorial
Hello!
Just letting you know that I found a grammatical error in the Welcome page. It's in page 4 (Talk pages), section 1 (User Talk Pages), Paragraph 1 (Every editor...). It says "If someone has left you a message, you will a notification in Special:Notifications..." Do you see how there's no 'get' or other word in there? If you have made this page, please fix this little mistake. Thanks!

Would you ever revive Mod Share? It's a very interesting concept and I think it has potential today, especially with the insane amount of mods to improve speed, add extensions, blocks, and more. Nowadays people only upload once a month or two for the lolz of uploading on an ancient program. But with a concept like that, there could be so many possibilities. Co0lcr34t10ns (talk | contribs) 10:47, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Co0lcr34t10ns: I do not have any plans to revive Mod Share. At the time I built it, I worked with LS97 and was still in high school, so I had a lot of free time. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. It's now all just up to me, and I am now an adult with the responsibilities that come with that. Between my actual job, just handling life in the adult world (cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc.), maintaining the Wiki, and the volunteer work I do, I don't really have time to add another website on top of that to maintain.

B:WM's curator-updating function is completely broken.
Basically the news page, the curator page, and the curator list page are completely broken. Specifically, WM tried to add the actual current curator (Little_miss_pancake) to the full list (twice), and then thought that coolcoder010101 had just became the current curator even though they are now a former FPC. Also, BalockeyBuilds (the 600th curator) is missed by WM in the full list. Please fix these problems, thank you. Purin2022 | π¬Talk | πContribs | π±Scratch 20:46, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

If you try to press the "diff", "prev", or "cur" buttons without logging in in the Recent Changes tab, you get 404'ed. Has it always been like this? - This is a temporary band-aid we have in place to reduce the number of 503/508 errors we have been getting. We are looking into more long-term solutions that would still allow logged-out users to view diffs but we needed to do this as a temporary measure to keep the site running.

Done - heads up that we already have an automatic filter in place to block New Wikians from editing others' suerpages, and editing others' userpages without permission by any user isn't allowed, so the banner is probably a bit superfluous.

Better search bar
How feasible would it be to implement a better search bar? The current one kind of sucks; if you donβt type the article title with the exact words and capitalization as used on the article, the article youβre looking for doesnβt show up in the dropdown and itβs really annoying having to pick from the list page that then appears. Would it be simple to implement one like on Wikipedia? Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 22:04, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Gdxfor There are a number of things we can do. The most useful thing would probably be to use CirrusSearch, but the trouble is we'd have to host an ElasticSearch instance somewhere, and we don't currently have the infrastructure to do that.

A-MARIO-PLAYER keeps reverting my changes on New Scratcher Status
When I try to correct "Favourited" to "Favorited" in the New Scratcher Status page, A-MARIO-PLAYER keeps undoing my changes. He keeps saying that If the creator uses British English, then the entire page is British English. However, Scratch is supposed to be in American English, so using British English is wrong here. PartyPizza205 (talk | contribs) 14:25, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- @PartyPizza205 See S:EC#Variances in English. "The style of English is set when the article is created. If an article is created with the word "colour", then it should be retained as such." This is also the case with "favourite".
In the future, if an article uses British English spelling, keep it that way. And if it uses American English spelling, keep it like that as well.A-MARIO-PLAYER (talk | 2,089 contribs) 15:15, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

scratchblocks update
The scratchblocks renderer is outdated on the wiki; (block:: +)
still doesn't render correctly due to a crash, while it renders correctly on the Discussion Forums. Is it possible to updated it? Or does someone related to the scratchblocks repo have to update it? Gdxfor (talk | contribs) 14:37, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Gdxfor: We use the mw-ScratchBlocks4 extension to render ScratchBlocks, which comes with a bundled version of the JS. I'll check for updates and apply them as needed.

Aespibr (talk | contribs) 23:06, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Aespibr: Yes, linking to project as descriptive examples is allowed. However, the project must work reasonably well, the implementation must be a prominent feature of the project, the link should just be as an example and not something that could be considered advertising, and the article should be about the general concept and not specifically about the linked project.

Template:Paused feature
Hello,
You removed the code from Template:Paused feature that adds the pages to a category (like {{obsolete feature}} and other similar templates already do), but didn't delete the category.
Do you not feel that that template in particular should add the pages to a category? If so, why not? I think it is useful for the same reasons the other similar categories are useful. I also don't know what you mean about "userspace rules", as the template and category weren't used in userspace, mainly article space. If there were user pages in that category, that is changed with |cat=no
on those instances. But right now, you've removed the code that adds the category, effectively deleting ALL of the pages from the category. Which confuses me a bit, especially because of the edit summary talking about userspace. Was that the intended goal? Mrsrec (talk | contribs) 01:26, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Mrsrec The category was added to a few pages it shouldn't have been, and I apparently was editing too quickly. However I accidentally edited the wrong thing. I reverted my edit and will fix it correctly.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:18, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- To elaborate a bit more now that I've fixed everything, User:Minikiwigeek2/Paused feature was originally created as the demonstrator for the template, but now is a redirect to the real one, so clicking took me to the real one but I didn't notice that and thought I was still editing the user one (which is why I made the comment about userspace). The issue I was trying to fix was that the Community Portal had the "Paused features" category on it, due to what I thought at the time was transcluding the user-hosted template, however in reality it was redirecting to the real one, but the real one didn't have |cat=no the documentation usages the solution was adding |cat=no to the Community Portal usages and the documentation. Everything should be fixed now.

Wiki skins
I do love the idea of using custom CSS and JS, but i feel like instead of copypasting, there could be a section or community where people can make and share skins, and it can automatically set a preset for it.
Think of it like a marketplace, (just without the money, obviously) or a "store."
I totally understand if this would be hard or if the answer would simply just be "no." Just a cool thought I had :) GvYoutube Talk Contribs 01:06, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
