Snap!
I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you in so long!
No, neither Smalltalk nor Flash, but Javascript and HTML5 Canvas. With very small exceptions (so far anyway) it's all Jens coding like mad.
The idea about levels is possible, but it would be really subtle. I mean, each big idea really just adds a handful of blocks. For first class lists, it's just the LIST reporter. For first class functions, it's THE BLOCK, THE SCRIPT, CALL, RUN, LAUNCH. For first class sprites and inheritance, it's just CLONE, OBJECT, and ATTRIBUTE (and a severe but invisible overloading of OF). If we had a big sharing site like the Scratch one, then it would make sense to grade projects on the difficulty of the ideas in them. But really, I don't see what everyone is afraid of. Every Scratcher downloads someone else's project and doesn't understand how it works -- e.g., because it scrolls the background and this user hasn't learned how to do that yet. Their heads don't explode. And in Snap! we're talking about older kids who presumably are better at delayed gratification.
About my user talk page, I think those are mostly for other people to talk to me, not for me to blog. I have a real web page (http://cs.berkeley.edu/~bh) for that. :-)

- Interesting. That explains why it looks much better, graphics-wise. (That's all I could get from the picture :P) I was browsing the Wiki, and found a place called "Mod Share", which allows uploads from Scratch modifications, including BYOB/Snap. And I'm checking out Panther (which seems to be the only other Scratch modification that the site will let me download :P), as well. I think BYOB/Snap's "Build a block" feature is much more simple. Being as I don't understand text(ish) programming (one of the reasons I use Scratch), it would take me a while to learn Smalltalk or any other programming language. (My dad tried to get me to do QBASIC when I was 6 XD) And about your talk page, I know it's mainly a "talk" page (hence the name), but "Hi. Talk to me..." just makes you sound like a boring old coot (no offense :P). You're much more lively, and that's just giving people the wrong idea. And I'll have to check out your blog, too. (I thought you guys were using chirp.scratchr.org) I've made my own site with Weebly called Scratch Retro, which will feature me blogging and stuff, along with cool/interesting Scratch stuff. The Wiki is not a chat area
Talk pages on the Wiki are not chat areas. They are only for discussing improvement to the article, and the Community Portal for improvements to the wiki.
User talk pages can be used to tell something to the user, but it generally should have something to so with the wiki. To quote Lucario621, "It's not like we think it will be harmful to any major extend, but remember, this is the Scratch Wiki -- not a big place to just "put text". :P"

The wiki FAQ says "Talk pages are meant to be for wiki-related comments and questions, not for having a conversation about something else." You should have read the FAQ by now. If you haven't I suggest you do now. Bsteward (talk | contribs) 21:24, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Talk Pages
ElectricSparx, it's great that you're trying to be active around the wiki and such, but posts like this really are a waste of space. First of all, wiki editors all know how to view an image in its full resolution. Secondly, wiki viewers rarely look at talk pages. So it's not really helping anybody. Basically, in terms of how to use talk pages: If you think something is wrong with a page, then edit it! It's a wiki, it's what you're supposed to do. If you do it wrong, then a more experienced editor will most likely correct you. If you really don't know where to start with editing it, or can't for permissions reasons then you should post the problem on the talk page. Above we've already talked to you about what talk pages should be used for above. Don't post observations or things that don't really relate to the article like here and here. You have been told by both me and scimonster what to do with talk pages, so just try in future to make more useful edits :)
