Welcome to the Scratch Wiki! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun!

Creating an article

S:CREATE. However, before creating a new article, make sure that:

  • It is relevant to Scratch
  • Suitable for coverage on the wiki
  • Not a duplicate

Good luck!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:59, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

I see, that would be important. So Scimonster, are there any articles that could be written?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 17:48, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
We could always use another tutorial on something. Also, feel free to expand stubs and other shorties. There's also the list of "wanted pages" -- pages that don't exist, but have links leading to them. Just be aware that many of them are pages that have been deleted that shouldn't be recreated.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:32, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
How about the "Getting Started with Scratch" Article?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 21:13, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
That would be a great one to cover. :)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:42, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
How do you know when a article was deleted
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 13:15, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
All deletions are listed in the deletion log. Also, if you go to a page that was previously deleted, such as this one, it says so. It also gives a warning if you try to edit it, reminding you that it was deleted. Of course, if a deleted page should be recreated, it can be. Also know that admins can recover deleted content. For more information on deleting pages, see Help:Deleting a page.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:39, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
How do you know when someone creates an article? Anyway, can you make an article on HTML? I mean, HTML can be used when creating articles.
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 22:12, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
All edits show up in Recent Changes. New pages also show up in Special:NewPages.
Very limited HTML is allowed in wiki articles. Usually, you want to use wikicode.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:21, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Last question, what crimes can you commit to get banned?(not that I will commit them, but I would like to know the rules)
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 15:52, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Being repeatedly disrespectful to other editors, causing excessive drama, and vandalism are the only things I can think of off the top of my head.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 16:51, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

So vandalism is messing up people's projects?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 17:07, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, intentionally messing up articles.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:58, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
You know how you said you could use a tutorial on something? Well, how do you know when you need a tutorial? Also, what should I write a tutorial on?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 19:18, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Making Objects Bounce

Thanks for writing up the article. You did a good job! Pretty much my only complaint is that you included too much stuff in the See Also section. You don't need to link to every block used. ;)

However, KrIsMa thinks that the article is in fact similar to Object Repulsion. I wonder if it's not just an expanded Example Uses for If on Edge, Bounce. Do you want to weigh in on the talk page? Again, thanks!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 04:47, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I was not aware of an article named "Object Repulsion". I have four questions for you. Number one, is this how you reply to people? If not, how? Number two, how do you know what and when to link. Number three, how do you put a picture in that grey box of mine?Lastly, is there an article specified on how to program the arrow keys to work in your program? Anyway, thanks for your feedback and all of your help.
Angelblade (talk | contribs)
  1. Yes, that's the correct way to reply. Good job!
  2. It takes time and experience. We don't really have a written out linking guide. Just use your best judgement. Link to relevant articles in good places. Important links related to the entire article can be placed in See Also. Besides for that, or in navigation boxes, try not to link to the same page more than once in an article.
  3. Sorry, i didn't understand the question.
  4. No, because that seems to be very general. The block pages When () Key Pressed and Key () Pressed have some example uses though.
Thanks for taking the time to work with us here. :)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:19, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for being patient with me. (Sorry if I am bothering you with an avalanche of questions). One last question, this is about scripts, are there any good articles you know of, if possible, that teach multiplayer (from different computers)?
Angelblade (talk | contribs)
Creating a Multiplayer Game is incomplete. Would you like to finish writing that one?
Also, don't forget to sign your posts with ~~~~ so that the rest of us know who you are and when you posted. :)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:41, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
I can try. Thank you for the help. How do you know when something is incomplete?
Angelblade (talk | contribs)
We tag the article with {{stub}} if it is very short, {{expand}} if it is still missing content, but too long to be a stub. There's also {{Wiki Standards}} for when an article is not written well.
One more thing about the sig: the software automatically puts it on a new line, so doing it manually just makes an unnecessary break. Also, using 4 tildes (~) adds a timestamp to the signature. 3 doesn't include the timestamp.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 14:57, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
Why do you need a timestamp?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 15:27, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
Because it can be good to know when a conversation, or a certain message, took place. It also lets people say, well, that was two years ago, i've changed since then! and not be doubted. ;)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:59, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

ScratchBlocks

We really appreciate you're recent edits — keep it up! I just wanted to let you know that you're misusing ScratchBlocks syntax a bit. For Boolean blocks, use <> to surround it. For text or dropdowns, use []. See Block Plugin/Syntax for the full list. Thanks again!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:19, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

OK Thank you!
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 12:23, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

File:Stop All 2014-05-21.png

We already have a file for this: 2.0 Stop ().png. I'll mark the other one as not needed. Please do check for duplicate files before uploading. Thanks!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 04:50, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Um ok. How do you check for duplicate files?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 15:04, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Take a look at likely articles that they might appear on? I guess there's no real good way. You can also do an image search (prefix "File:" to your search query).
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:44, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
How do you get a sandbox and what is it for?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 21:09, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
You can create one at User:Angelblade/Sandbox. It's basically a place for testing things without messing up actual content. There's also the community sandbox.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:43, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Are there any other pages made for users?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 00:36, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, what do you mean?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 14:35, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Like, are there any other user pages. Users have a sandbox, talk, contribs, and a watchlist. Are there any others?
Angelblade (talk | contribs) 01:46, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
You can theoretically create any subpages of your userpage that you want. Take a look at what i have.

Tutorial vs Informational

We have two different types of articles on the wiki. Tutorials, which explain how to do something in second person ("you"); and informational, which explain about something in third person. We usually try not to mix the two types of writing in a single page, such as you did in Platforming Base. Perhaps it would be better to create it as a separate page?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:57, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Ok I will make a separate page

Look back at the page occasionally, or if you want you can tell him to reply back on your own talk page :)

What a Bot is

A bot on the Scratch Wiki is an automated tool used to maintain the wiki.
Swampert11 (talk | contribs) 01:13, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Scratch Wiki:Bots a good article about bots! oh yeah, sorry I had to delete the discussion on Scratch Wiki:Bot Requests because that page is only for bot discussions. If you have a question, please ask either a bot owner or someone else on the wiki!

Please categorize new pages

Hi there! I noticed when you created the page File:Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 9.34.38 AM.png, you did not place a category. Pages are categorized to group them with articles of similar content. To categorize an article, place:
[[Category:Name]]

At the bottom of the page. "name" represents the actual category's name. A list can be found here. It may also be helpful to read Help:Categories.

Create a Wiki Page

I think that is covered in the Help pages.
