Cool tips on how to edit
  1. To edit, click the pencil icon at the top of the page next to your username. Then, click edit. If you don't see the button it may be because the page is protected for certain users.
  2. After you are in the editor, check out the cheatsheet for editing tips.
  3. You can also check out the help pages for more detailed information on editing.
  4. You can test editing features out in the community sandbox (it will get cleared every few hours), or you can make your own sandbox here.
  5. Before making a page, make sure it does not already exist. You can do this by using the search bar located at the top of the page.
  6. If the page you wanted to make is already created, you can create a redirect page! For more info on redirect pages, see this.
  7. To make a page, go here, or type the page name you want in the search bar and then press the link that says "create this page by editing this!"
  8. For information on magic words, check out the MediaWiki Documentatation.


Cool tips for using templates
  1. A list of templates can be found here
  2. To use a template, put it in curly brackets ({{}})
  3. To create a template for yourself, make a subpage of your userpage, like 'User:USERNAME/PAGENAME'.
  4. To use a template you have created, put the name in curly brackets, like {{User:USERNAME/PAGENAME}}
  5. To have a template's code come on a page when you save it, put 'SUBST:' before the template name, like {{SUBST:User:USERNAME/PAGENAME}}

Cool tips for finding pages to edit
  1. Use random page
  2. Check out articles to expand
  3. Check out article stubs
  4. Look at edits on recent changes and see what you can do to improve it even more.
  5. Look at S:CPND for discussions to take part in


Cool tips for posting on talk pages
  1. To post on someone's talk page, simply press the pencil icon and then press "New Topic". Type in the subject and message.
  2. Then, make sure you sign your post with 4 tidles (~~~~)
  3. When replying to a talk page post, edit the section that has the message and then indent your post with a colon (:). If someone already replied, use one more colon then they used. (See example conversation below)

Try using Special:Random and maybe make some contributions there?. Also, please don't use the title tool on your signature. It breaks formatting

You also don't need to make a new line for or indent your signature, just type ~~~~ immediately after your comment.

I moved a file you uploaded

I moved File:Download-removebg-preview.png to File:Aneri9714 Cat.png, because the filename did not describe the image. The file is used on your userspace, so you might need to update the filename there.

How to make custom signatures?

Hello! I made my own custom signature, but I cannot use it. I need help!

To set your custom signature as your signature, click on the thing in the header that shows your username, click on "Preferences", and under "Signature", put the link of the page with your custom signature in between two "{" and two "}" under "New signature". Basically something like {{LINK OF CUSTOM SIGNATURE}}. Make sure to click on "Treat signature as wikitext".

Put <br/> at the start of your custom signature so that you don't have to make a new line for your signature. If you do that, make sure to put your signature right after your message.

Your signature needs miniaturising

Your signature is not miniaturised, meaning its code is displayed directly on talk pages you post on instead of transcluding it by a template, which takes up unnecessary space on talk pages.

To miniaturise a signature, create a page in your userspace with a title along the lines of User:Aneri9714/Sig or something similar. Click the Preferences tab under the section displaying your username on the wiki's header, then replace the contents with {{SUBST:User:Aneri9114/<insert subpage containing your miniaturised signature>}}.

Additionally, add <br> to the start of your signature instead of putting a colon and a new line directly before it.

The br tag does not need closing (it is an exception for HTML tags). Additionally, you created a /minisig section of your userpage, but you might not be using it correctly; it should only transclude your signature, not for testing your signature.

Why is your signature showing up as wikitext? It should be showing up as <scratchsig>Aneri9714</scratchsig>.
I also noticed that everybody has to add <br> after your messages since your signature doesn't have a line break at the end.
You should also make your posts in this format -
(your message here) ~~~~
When you go to Special:Preferences and then scroll down to signature, what is there? It should say {{SUBST:User:Aneri9714/minisig}}.
Your minisig page should have <onlyinclude> tags, and the total contents of the page should be
Hello [[User:Aneri9714|I]] test my siggy updates here <br><onlyinclude>{{User:Aneri9714/Signature}}</onlyinclude> ooo

I deleted 3 redirects to your userpage

I recently deleted three mainspace redirects to your userpage, which you were planning on using as shortcuts, because mainspace to userspace redirects are not allowed, and the redirects might count as being about user-generated content.
