Hey there! Welcome to the Wiki, 998930!
I hope you can make lots of helpful edits. Remember to check out the new page policies and especially the guidelines. The Wiki can be a little tricky in the beginning - I'm still making lots of mistakes. Mainly remember to include a summary of what you did with your edits and use a signature at the end of a reply/new topic on talk pages only. Don't worry; you'll get the hang of things eventually!
Don't forget to indent when you reply, by the way 
Put a colon : before your reply, and one for every new reply. When there are six, if you are replying, put {{outdent|::::::}} to go back to the start.

If you want to find pages to edit, then you could look at some articles to expand or some article stubs to find pages that you can improve. Alternatively, you could have a look at the innacurate articles to find places to add references.

Reply to your questions
Unfortunately, I use a lot of obscure tricks and "complicated stuff", as you put it, to make my sidebars, so I don't know how to explain that to you. Pictures, on the other hand, I can explain - upload the picture at Special:Upload (give it a descriptive name and a category), and include it like so:
[[File:Name you gave the picture.ext]]
(where "ext" is the file extension e.g. png or jpg)
If you want to change the size:
[[File:Name you gave the picture.ext|30px]] - 30px wide, automatically scales height [[File:Name you gave the picture.ext|x30px]] - 30px tall, automatically scales width [[File:Name you gave the picture.ext|30x30px]] - forces 30px wide and tall, image will look stretched
Your Wiki username is still 998930, and that can't be changed, unfortunately - you may have moved on Scratch, but that is not reflected here. On the Wiki, you'll have to remain 998930.
The "ooh! new message" thing at the top of my talk page is actually an automatic thing - it just directly puts the username of the last person to edit the page in the message. If that person was me, it doesn't show the message.

- Oh, by the way - next time you open a new topic, I recommend you use the "new topic" option in the pencil menu - it'll automatically put your topic in the right place.
