Welcome
Welcome to the Scratch Wiki!
Hi 12944qwerty and welcome to the Scratch Wiki! I'm banana439monkey (or Banana for short) and, however inactive I am, I'm an experienced wikian. Outside of the wiki, I'm a maker who makes projects either out of curiosity or for the sake of the end user and with them in mind (after all, the end user is why I do what I do). The wiki's a welcoming place full of friendly and helpful Scratchers who are eager to see what edits you make! If you need help, you can always ask me, although given my activity, you'd be better off asking on the Community Portal or reading the help pages. Following the welcome tutorial is also a great way of finding your way round the wiki! Anyway, that concludes my grand speech and it's your time to do the unimaginable. Have fun and enjoy your stay!

Welcome!
Hello 12944qwerty! Welcome to the English Scratch Wiki! I am SuperWhale123. If you have any questions or would just like to chat, feel free to leave a comment on my talk page! Have fun editing on the Scratch Wiki!
When I joined the wiki I used this sheet of handy code to help me get started.

Thank You!
Hello, thank you so much for letting me be a Wikian. I have always wondered what the Wiki was for but now, by reading the articles that are required to read when becoming a Wikian, I now know!

Hey, just letting you know, footers are ineffective on talk pages because the "new topic" button adds topics at the very bottom. You should probably remove it, unless you've managed to figure out some ingenious method to keep it at the bottom of the page no matter what.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 02:21, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
- Ok, I was wondering why that wouldn't work. What are the different types of buttons?
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 02:37, 26 November 2018 (UTC)- Ok, so I had gotten 2 solutions:
- A bot. Which...
- The problem is not time consuming.
- A piece of code that is either a js file or a TamperMonkey file.
- I have absolutely no idea on how I would do this as everyone talking on my talk page would need this code.
File:12944qwerty Logo.jpg 12944qwerty Talk Contribs Directory 19:31, 27 November 2018 (UTC)- Really, it's simply not possible. A bot would be completely superfluous, and a JS file would, as you said, need to run for everyone. Perhaps you could fix the footer to the bottom of the screen... but that would cover up some content, so maybe not either. Again, just don't use footers on talk pages. I don't. You shouldn't.

Thanks for welcoming me to the Scratch Wiki!
I was just wondering if you have any tips for memorizing Wiki code. Should I just keep using it and it'll catch on?

- First off, please start all of your post with colons(:) as many times as the post has been added on to. For example, I put 5 as you(1), me(2), Ken(3), you(4), and again me(5) have posted on it. (I also did it for your previous post)
- Second, you can't edit other's people userpages unless
- They give you permission
- If it obviously is against the Guidelines
- Finally, you can jump straight into it and make/edit pages, or you can get used to the code. I am editing and getting used to the code.

JS not CSS
Hi! In this edit here you tried to use my fixed side bar code in your common.css file and it didn't work. Thats because you have to add the code to your common.js file!
mw.loader.load('/w/index.php?title=User:Jakel181/Code/FixedSidebar.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css');//Fixes the sidebar to the screen when you scroll. Credit To Jakel181 for the code
Hope this helps!

- Oh, you had said to put it into your css file.
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 23:27, 29 November 2018 (UTC)- STILL DOESN"T WORK!
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 23:43, 29 November 2018 (UTC)- My bad. Use this code instead:
mw.loader.load('/w/index.php?title=User:Jakel181/Code/FixedSidebar.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css' );//Fixes the sidebar to the screen when you scroll. Credit To Jakel181 for the code
Though your side bar will cover it, so I made a different version that doesn't though, if you scroll all the way down it covers part of the scratch wiki footer, but I'm working on fixing that.mw.loader.load('/w/index.php?title=User:Jakel181/Code/FixedSidebarLeft.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css' );//Fixes the sidebar to the screen when you scroll. Credit To Jakel181 for the code
- This code solves both problems but moves the wiki sidebar to the right of the screen.
mw.loader.load('/w/index.php?title=User:Jakel181/Code/FixedSidebarRight.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css' );//Fixes the sidebar to the screen when you scroll. Credit To Jakel181 for the code

Hello!
Hi! I could not find any articles on the following, so I'll ask you =D.
- What are the templates?
- I noticed others have different signatures, so how can I change mine?
Thanks!
Maskedmaruder (talk | contribs) 17:23, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- You won't find articles on Scratch about the syntax but you can go look at MediaWiki which powers this Wiki.
- To answer your questions:
- Templates are basically pieces of code on pages that can be transcluded into another page just by using the {{ }} type brackets. A list of Templates can be found here
- Just as a reminder, do not make templates using the same url the templates given in here. They are meant to be used throughout the Wiki unlike the 'templates' I made. You can make the 'Wiki Templates' if you get enough support in the CP. To make templates for yourself, you make a subpage on your userpage with all the code. For more help look here.
- As for the custom signatures, you can look here

Linking Categories
Hello! In this revision here I saw you were trying to link to a Category using plain links. While that is a way to do that, you can easily link to a category by linking it as a normal wiki page and just put a colon in front.

Userspace guidelines.
Hey qwerty, I see you are making lots of edits, and compressing lots of files! Though that's great, that you are trying to help compress large files, I would just like to remind you that according to S:USERSPACE, images uploaded with the category Users' Images or Users' Logos are considered a part of the uploader's userspace. When you are compressing them, is actually a violation of the userspace policy, no matter how big the file. The only time you are allowed to edit someone else's userspace is when it meets one or more of the conditions on S:USERSPACE. Just letting you know.

12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 20:04, 30 December 2018 (UTC)- Essentially, there are certain things that don't make sense or don't really work in HTML. If you use them, it won't crash anything, but it'll have results other than what you expect. For example, forgetting to close a tag is invalid HTML, but most browsers are nice and auto-close it for you when rendering it. However, it's always a good idea to stick to what's valid.

Hi! A question...
Hello! I was reading through my welcome messages, and have a question. So as Wiki editors, we're supposed to find pages to improve and etc. ,, but where DO i find the pages? It's a stupid question, but it would help a lot to know where to start.
Pgirltoy (talk | contribs) 21:27, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Pgirltoy
- Well for starters, you can:
- Click Random Page in the Navigation bar on the left
- create your own pages/look around
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 22:15, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- Besides that, we have a whole category of articles that need improving! Random pages are also a good place to start. I recommend you go around making small edits first, to get the feel of editing, before trying to create an article - full articles take a lot of effort and are much more difficult than editing existing ones. It's taken me days to write some articles.
- As well as the category of articles to improve, you can keep an eye on Special:RecentChanges to see what's going on on the Wiki. There are also discussions you can join in on on the Community Portal.

- Can anyone make a page?
- What are the pages normally about? Are they like tutorials, facts or questions?

- 1)Use the

- 3)You got it! Along with that pages are about parts and events of scratch.

You're a Gujarati?
If Gujarati is your native tongue, then I'm pretty sure you are... that would explain why you're awake when I am, because Gujarat is only 2:30 behind Hong Kong :)
Since you speak a language other than English, have you considered joining the Test Scratch Wiki? We don't currently have a Gujarati test wiki, and if you can find some other people to help you edit I'd love to help you create one :)
If you can't find any Gujaratis to help you out, there is also already a Hindi test wiki that you can edit (since you say you read Hindi). What do you think?

- I live in U.S. We just happen to be on at the same time.
- I don't know how to read or write Gujurati :(
- I don't know how to properly translate Hindi to English and vice versa currently. I am still learning.
- Besides, I want to learn Chinese during high school. :)

- Ah well, at least you still speak it :)
- Cool, good luck with that!
- Do you now... I must warn you that Chinese is far different from any other language... I mean, China was its own civilization so Chinese developed independently. Once you've started learning you can AMA though :)
