Linking to the Design Studios
Should we include a link to the design studio?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 12:31, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see the harm in it, but they can get to the Design Studio easily enough...

And the survey
Is the survey notable enough news?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:11, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think so :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:54, 17 May 2011 (UTC)- I don't see why that's important. I mean, it's a survey. And BTW, what do those lock icons mean? The ones that are next to some of the external links.
BWOG (talk | contribs) 13:26, 17 May 2011 (UTC)- It's an important survey. :P
- I think it puts a lock by Google links. ^^
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:33, 17 May 2011 (UTC)- The lock is because the page is on HTTPSecure.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 14:30, 17 May 2011 (UTC)- Oh. ^^

Should we include:
Which is I think almost exactly like the message on the front page.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:45, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm by editing the Tagline or whatever it's called we might be able to do it :P But I don't think it's necessary ^^ It doesn't happen on the Scratch forums and TBG, anyway.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
They just (As in last few minutes) removed it from the site. Does that mean we should remove it?
BWOG (talk | contribs) 02:38, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- Naw, it's fine.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 03:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC) - @Jon: I meant in the spot:
- May 16, 2011 - Scratch Team Conducting a Survey
- The Scratch Team is conducting a survey to see how they can improve the website based on people's usage. It can be taken here.
The following message appeared on the front page, project pages, galleries, and user pages:

A bit impossible
I was offline for a few days so I don't know what day parcheesidude became curator, but it wasn't 7/20! :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- Lol how do I always forget to update part of the curator thingy >.< I remember triple-checking for mistakes, I fail xD

Dates
Should the dates be February 08, or February 8? I think the latter is better, but I'm wondering what you guys think. It doesn't matter too much.

Added link to Current Events
In a revision of this page's history], the link to current events was removed (I don't know why.) I'm suggesting that it should be added back, so people can see more news if they want. What do you think?
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 22:41, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- If we're keeping older stuff there now, then yeah, let's put it back. :P Maybe also as an infobox on the side?

Would a sysop please add to the top of the page this code:

It says, if you are an administrator
Shouldn't it be "or an EW"?
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 14:58, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- I guess so.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:31, 6 December 2014 (UTC)- Could someone tell me what an EW is...? Sorry. Also, could someone tell me if I did everything right adding this to the discussion? I'm trying to learn...
Amateurradiogeek15 (talk | contribs) 01:53, 14 February 2015 (UTC)- 1. An EW is halfway between a regular user and an administrator. It's short for Experienced Wikian. 2. Yep, you added it properly. :)
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:24, 14 February 2015 (UTC)- Ok, great! :D Thanks for telling me. I think I'm an AW, not an EW. I'm an amateur in lots of things. XD

Change his/her to their
Don't you think it's better seeing (when there's a new curator) "example has been chosen as the one-hundred-ninety-third curator on the Front Page. Feel free to congratulate example on their profile!" rather than "example has been chosen as the one-hundred-ninety-third curator on the Front Page. Feel free to congratulate example on his/her profile!" In my opinion, it's less boring and I, myself use them, their and they when I don't know the gender of the person.
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 07:41, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Although a lot of people use them, their, and they for situations where you don't know gender, it is not grammatically correct. That's why it would not be a good idea to switch the words being used.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 13:55, 10 March 2016 (UTC)- It's also less awkward, and to be honest, it's kind of becoming the norm I think.
TheHockeyist (talk | contribs) 01:27, 11 March 2016 (UTC)- In my opinion, it is.
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 20:25, 12 March 2016 (UTC)- Easy solution:
- In my opinion, it is.
- It's also less awkward, and to be honest, it's kind of becoming the norm I think.
- Use ScratchTools to find the next curator a week ahead of time.
- Ask that user their gender.
- If they say, use their gender, otherwise, use "them."
Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 20:38, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
- Ok?
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 20:44, 12 March 2016 (UTC)- It would work great. I asked the next FPC.
Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 20:52, 12 March 2016 (UTC)- Being a grammar freak, "them" is not grammatically correct in this case, and I wouldn't like it.
Rollercoasterfan (talk | contribs) 22:07, 12 March 2016 (UTC)- The next FPC is female.
Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 01:00, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- The next FPC is female.
- Being a grammar freak, "them" is not grammatically correct in this case, and I wouldn't like it.
- It would work great. I asked the next FPC.
- Ok?
@Mitopolis — no, I don't think that's a good idea. It might pressure them to give away their gender, which could be something they don't want to do.
Hamish752 (talk | contribs) 01:10, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- I think that it should be his/her because it's correct grammar.

Wiki Users
Should we also add people joining the wiki to the news? It just seems like the news needs more than FPC news
Jedibrine (talk | contribs) 02:22, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- ...no? this news thing is for Scratch-related news. New Wiki users are announced in Special:RecentChanges or Special:Log/newusers :P
- I mean we should probably make this stick a little closer to the "News" thing on the main Scratch site, but that's a different topic.

This is pretty outdated
This is quite outdated, could someone update this? @scratchcat74 and @mathias1706 have been accepted, and @natsd's shift just ended.
NilsTheBest (talk | contribs) 22:30, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
- It's not outdated? The current curator, as reported by the Scratch main site, is BlueElectricity, which is what the news says is the most recent curator. Future curators go on the Curator (front page)/Future Curators page, not here.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 08:42, 12 February 2019 (UTC)- At the time I wrote this, it seemed pretty outdated to me.. but I guess now its fixed ^^ Yes, I'm well aware about where future curators go too, no worries!

Plural?
In:
“ | June 23, 2019 - EW Election Results!
Congratulations to banana439monkey (talk | contribs) and jakel181 (talk | contribs), who have been elected Experienced Wikian! View detailed results here: Scratch Wiki:Elections/June 2019/Results. |
” |
Shouldn't the "Experienced Wikian" text be plural in the June 23, 2019 - EW Election Results!?
TenType (talk | contribs) 00:13, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- I think it doesn't matter - you can say multiple people "were elected President" over the course of the last hundred years, so you can say multiple people were elected Experienced Wikian.

In "August 7, 2023 — Scratch Camp 2023 — Week Three", it says:
“ | The second week of Scratch Camp, Intergalactic Innovators, has begun. | ” |
This should probably say "third week".
