Linking to the Design Studios

Should we include a link to the design studio?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 12:31, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

I don't see the harm in it, but they can get to the Design Studio easily enough...
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:23, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Some people stay on the wiki too much to look at the front page. :P ^^
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:44, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

And the survey

Is the survey notable enough news?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:11, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

I think so :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:54, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I don't see why that's important. I mean, it's a survey. And BTW, what do those lock icons mean? The ones that are next to some of the external links.
BWOG (talk | contribs) 13:26, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
It's an important survey. :P
I think it puts a lock by Google links. ^^
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:33, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
The lock is because the page is on HTTPSecure.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 14:30, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh. ^^
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:45, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Should we include:

Which is I think almost exactly like the message on the front page.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:45, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Hmmm by editing the Tagline or whatever it's called we might be able to do it :P But I don't think it's necessary ^^ It doesn't happen on the Scratch forums and TBG, anyway.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

They just (As in last few minutes) removed it from the site. Does that mean we should remove it?
BWOG (talk | contribs) 02:38, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Naw, it's fine.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 03:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
@Jon: I meant in the spot:
May 16, 2011 - Scratch Team Conducting a Survey
The Scratch Team is conducting a survey to see how they can improve the website based on people's usage. It can be taken here.
The following message appeared on the front page, project pages, galleries, and user pages:

Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:18, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

A bit impossible

I was offline for a few days so I don't know what day parcheesidude became curator, but it wasn't 7/20! :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Lol how do I always forget to update part of the curator thingy >.< I remember triple-checking for mistakes, I fail xD

Problem with the "Retired Moderators" News Section

There will be moderators to take their place—just in March 2012.

'K, edited. :)

Dates

Should the dates be February 08, or February 8? I think the latter is better, but I'm wondering what you guys think. It doesn't matter too much.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 02:13, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, I like the padding. :/
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:22, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Added link to Current Events

In a revision of this page's history], the link to current events was removed (I don't know why.) I'm suggesting that it should be added back, so people can see more news if they want. What do you think?
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 22:41, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

If we're keeping older stuff there now, then yeah, let's put it back. :P Maybe also as an infobox on the side?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:42, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Fix

The quote from the SDS is missing the closing quotation mark. >.>

Interwiki

Could someone who can edit the News add Interwiki? The DACH News are "Scratch-Wiki:Aktuelle Ereignisse". - LiFaytheGoblin (Talk|Contributions) 10:07, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Bad Dates

SDS Creative Characters should be below ScratchJr.
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 23:58, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

No, the SDS Creative Characters date is wrong. It is supposed to be August 1, 2014.
Swampert11 (talk | contribs) 01:59, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Oh, yeah.

Latest News Item

No, they have not been elected! Voting still goes on for a week! Yup!
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 23:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Um, you are the only one who thinks the election was wrongly ended today. As such, I am not modifying the news.

The only user who has said anything. Many other users agree with me, I can feel it.

jvvg (talk | contribs) 23:38, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
jvvg - there's some weird excess space on the bottom of the Scratch News section of front page, you might wanna change that ;)
derpmeup (talk | contribs) 00:12, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
That's just because all of the items are two lines or fewer. If you have any suggestions to make a description longer, I'm all ears.

Request

Would a sysop please add to the top of the page this code:

{{April Fools}}
{{redirect|S:NEWS|news on the main website|Scratch News}}
{{shortcut|S:NEWS}}
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 13:11, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Not with HTML like that.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:13, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
I know not w/ the HTML I just want it to display right.
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 13:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
It's S:NEWS not S:N. I'll need to get that deleted... :/
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 23:01, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

6 items

Can somebody remove the last item from the list? There are only supposed to be 5.
derpmeup (talk | contribs) 04:31, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

It appears somebody did do that.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:18, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
Yup, it was KrIsMa.
derpmeup (talk | contribs) 22:09, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

fix the date

Yes Done
jvvg (talk | contribs) 23:01, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

It says, if you are an administrator

Shouldn't it be "or an EW"?
Krett12 (talk | contribs) 14:58, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I guess so.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 15:31, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Could someone tell me what an EW is...? Sorry. Also, could someone tell me if I did everything right adding this to the discussion? I'm trying to learn...
Amateurradiogeek15 (talk | contribs) 01:53, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
1. An EW is halfway between a regular user and an administrator. It's short for Experienced Wikian. 2. Yep, you added it properly. :)
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:24, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
Ok, great! :D Thanks for telling me. I think I'm an AW, not an EW. I'm an amateur in lots of things. XD

Change his/her to their

Don't you think it's better seeing (when there's a new curator) "example has been chosen as the one-hundred-ninety-third curator on the Front Page. Feel free to congratulate example on their profile!" rather than "example has been chosen as the one-hundred-ninety-third curator on the Front Page. Feel free to congratulate example on his/her profile!" In my opinion, it's less boring and I, myself use them, their and they when I don't know the gender of the person.
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 07:41, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Although a lot of people use them, their, and they for situations where you don't know gender, it is not grammatically correct. That's why it would not be a good idea to switch the words being used.
ErnieParke (talk | contribs) 13:55, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
It's also less awkward, and to be honest, it's kind of becoming the norm I think.
TheHockeyist (talk | contribs) 01:27, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
In my opinion, it is.
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 20:25, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Easy solution:
  1. Use ScratchTools to find the next curator a week ahead of time.
  2. Ask that user their gender.
  3. If they say, use their gender, otherwise, use "them."
    Popular GIF.gif Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 20:38, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Ok?
Banana439monkey (talk | contribs) 20:44, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
It would work great. I asked the next FPC.
Popular GIF.gif Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 20:52, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Being a grammar freak, "them" is not grammatically correct in this case, and I wouldn't like it.
Rollercoasterfan (talk | contribs) 22:07, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
The next FPC is female.
Popular GIF.gif Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 01:00, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Mitopolis — no, I don't think that's a good idea. It might pressure them to give away their gender, which could be something they don't want to do.
Hamish752 (talk | contribs) 01:10, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

I think that it should be his/her because it's correct grammar.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 16:28, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
In modern usage, "they" is considered an acceptable gender-neutral pronoun for a single person, and we actually had a discussion on the CP about this a while ago about making sure to be inclusive of nonbinary people.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 20:22, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Then maybe his/her/their. I think sometimes users might use that maybe.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 20:47, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
That is overly complicated when the last word covers both of the other two cases.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 22:36, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Add Scratch Cat's Brithday

Can you add scratch cat's birthday because scratch has been around for 10 years today.

Scratch in Space

Scratch in Space seems like a big topic should this be added to the news section
Jakel181 (talk | contribs) 22:34, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

I agree! I think it'd be a great news article!
