Potential concern

I haven't been on the wiki in a long time, so I'm not completely sure whether this is of concern or not.

However, it seems to me that this article is written in a way that *almost* violates S:NOSP - many of the users mentioned and the like feel too... personal (?) almost?

Like, for example, here, I am sort of bothered by "This was started by Zro716 and has spread slowly." It seems almost like it's addressing Zro716 as someone familiar to every reader. I personally think that it would be better worded as "This was started by the user Zro716 and has spread slowly" or something similar.

As I said, I haven't been on the wiki in a long time, so I'm not really sure what other people might think about this. That's why I'm curious to see others' opinions.
Userlogoaonymousguy.png AonymousGuy (talk | contribs | Scratch account) 03:49, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I think of that as advertising Zro716.

I agree. This also mentions user generated content. This should be deleted.
Scratch-Coding (talk | contribs) 13:23, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Please start a new topic for a different idea!
Mentioning user-generated content is mostly fine - it's only when the article is entirely about user-generated content or when it is advertising that it should be deleted. Besides that, this article has long been an exception because these trends, if they make it into the article, are truly noteworthy and worth documenting to the point where it's not really a big deal that it's user-generated because so many users are regenerating it and it would frankly be an omission of content to not at least mention it. This article is one of the oldest on the Wiki - please don't try to pettily usurp it just because your edits got reverted and for some reason you have a sense of entitlement.

Famous Trends

How famous does a trend have to be to be able to be mentioned in this article?

I don't quite agree. If a certain user does the trend 10 times over and nobody else even knows about it, it doesn't seem worthy.

So in the "reading & playing" forum there is the trend of "random facts about" topics that became super popular in the last few days. should we add that?

"How to make book?"/Warriorpugs

"How to make book?" is a comment type which is mostly said when a Scratcher wants to make a book but doesn't know how. Warriorpugs started in a RP studio that a user did not know anything about Warriors and tried to recreate the studio as a pugs type-theme. Should this be added?

Adding "Thanos Cat" and possibly the "Go 3.0" logo trend?

I'm pretty sure that "Thanos Cat" can be added, it's been really noticed throughout the community and has spread a ton - studios and topics have even been made about it. Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped half of the universe, and that logo is referring to how the release of 3.0 had the same effect to lots of scratchers. The original studio can be found here.

As for the "Go 3.0 #TrustTheST" icon trend, I've seen it around less and it is still debatable. However, it still is very popular and should be considered.
NilsTheBest (talk | contribs) 22:18, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

I'm mainly referring to difficulty reading, not editing. While we do have the table of contents, the table of contents itself is now getting pretty long (nearly 100 items, and taller than my screen on a 1080p monitor), while if we split the article up, that would split it into more manageable chunks.

Done: Account and User Icon Trends I'm going to link it now
ScratchCatHELLO (talk | contribs) 02:46, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Also, is this page still inaccurate? All of the parts that needed citations are in other articles now.
ScratchCatHELLO (talk | contribs) 02:49, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
This article is not inaccurate, but if a specific article has more than 3 citation neededs, add {{inaccurate}} to it.

A sad farewell to the contents of this article

Many years ago, this article was created. Now, in the discussion above, this article's content was moved to four seperate articles, and, the article was essentialy dead. This article survived the server transfer and that second one. Therefore, let us say an emotional farewell to the article's contents.

f. Also, sorry I didn't help with the splitting of the article. I didn't know it would happen this fast. Is there anything left to do that I can help with?
Jackson49 (talk | contribs) 20:43, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Jackson49, you could write summaries of each of the four categories, to be placed under each heading, and at the top of each new article.

Places That Link Here

There are lots of places that link to Scratch Trends (for example: Sixty-Second Rule links here). Should we make those places link to the new articles?
ScratchCatHELLO (talk | contribs) 18:21, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

It would depend on whether they link to a fragment (in which case the links should point to that section's new article), or if they reference Scratch Trends altogether.
Mlcreater (talk | contribs) 18:27, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
The sixty-second rule was specifically referring to the trend on the forums, so I made it link to that article. That's okay?
ScratchCatHELLO (talk | contribs) 18:29, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Some of them even made the hyperlink text say "forum trends", so I'm assuming it's okay to change those?
ScratchCatHELLO (talk | contribs) 18:31, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes I say yes, but I would imagine that it would be very time-consuming (and might clog up RC). There are about 107 pages that link to the Scratch Trends page or make a reference to here. Here's a handy page you can use to see what pages link here.
edit conflict lol

I'm also helping. To make sure I understand, a Toki redirect page would be changed, but not the Trends redirect page? (also, edit conflict again)

This page is a disambiguation

I am highly concerned that the article split into 4 diffrent scratch trend articles and it might be a disambiguation. Should we revamp the whole article to be one?
Username_6666666 (talk | contribs) 13:16, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

The article was split following a discussion. The basic idea was the article was way too long (nearly 100 individual trends were listed) when all put together as one article, and splitting it up allowed each individual article to be a more reasonable length.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 19:27, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Suggestion: Require editor consensus before a trend is added

(I am posting this here because my suggestion is about all the pages this was split into)

I think it is quite common and easy to add trends that might overall be non-notable (which might be more likely to be advertising for particular users). So, I think editor consensus should be required before trends are added to any pages this was split up into. This would not affect major changes or additions to sections on existing trends.
