Users that can add

Who thinks we should have a section/paragraph mentioning the users who can add projects to the SDS?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 10:55, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

I think it's fine...
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:22, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
BTW, there is no reason I suggested this now. :P
Done. Should I include links to them?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:54, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
I don't think that's necessary ^^
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 08:07, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Why not? It may be helpful if Scratchers have questions.
stevetheipad (talk | contribs) 08:07, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Using a name in an image is one thing, but linking to a user is definitely considered advertising users...
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:41, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
True, but we should prove some sort of way for scratchers to contact us about questions.
stevetheipad (talk | contribs)
Maybe we could link to the SDSCK.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:14, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Capitalizing my name

Yeah, I want it as Scimonster but the Scratch site has it as scimonster. It's only like that 'cause I didn't think of capitalizing when I made my account. ^^ Anyways, [1] is the same as [2], why does it matter?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 10:36, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

I want it as "scimonster" because that's how your username is on the Scratch website, even if you wish it were "Scimonster" :3 Eh, it is your account, not mine, so I guess this is more important to you :P

The description

Do we need to include the description of your average SDS gallery, or is it pointless information?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:58, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Some people may not know what SDSs are, so the description may help them understand.
Bsteward (talk | contribs) 21:13, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
It explains in the rest of the article. I'm referring to the quote in the article, not the actual gallery. XD
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:43, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I agree, it seems a bit useless. I'm not interested in putting copied information of this type into the wiki, personally. It doesn't provide much information directly to the reader. We can still include in a separate part of the article where to suggest SDS studios.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 21:15, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Done.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:11, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Put list of galleries on subpage

Self explanatory. With 50+ galleries, the list is getting rather long. Probably Scratch Design Studio/List. That would include all of the notes in the section below.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 20:17, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Sounds fine with me. :)
Bsteward (talk | contribs) 21:51, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
+1
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:06, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

How often is the theme changed?

I think this information is important to the article.
Bsteward (talk | contribs) 22:13, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Every 2 weeks to a month I think.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:03, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
At the moment it's more like 2 weeks and a month. When is the next SDS coming out?
SpiritMaster (talk | contribs) 07:19, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
We have no clue. :P We've been discussing some other things, and just haven't gotten around to discussing (fully) the next DS.

History

How did the SDS start. Was it just a gallery someone made, and it turned into this huge thing. Or was it started by the Scratch Team. This would be interesting to know.
Joletole (talk | contribs) 00:55, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

I agree, that would be an interesting section to have in the article. Maybe someone can research the topic?
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 02:40, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Moderators?

"All moderators and the Scratch Team have the ability to add projects as well, but generally only do so when extra help is needed." I don't think we have volunteer moderators anymore. Isn't Scratch now moderated by paid adult moderators? We can just call them Scratch Team. Should we remove the "moderator" part?
Rumanti (talk | contribs) 14:42, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

SDS Curators not current

I'm pretty sure the SDS curators listed are not current. Maybe they just haven't accepted the invitation, but on the Once Upon a Dinner studio, but I also checked the suggestion studio. Maybe we could add a section on past curators?
Helloyowuzzup (talk | contribs) 12:08, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

I actually did that a couple months back! Check SDS Curator.

Duplicate?!

I was clicking 'Random Page' and it came up with a page extremely similar to this one but about a quarter of the size. I think it had a similar title as well, and the image at the top right hand corner was the same. What is going on?
Randomfox (talk | contribs) 08:24, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

You were probably looking at Scratch Design Studio Row.
Hamish752 (talk | contribs) 08:35, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

too much redundancy

I feel like the article is too redudant and repetetive:

  • why is there the same picture twice?
  • in "how it works", it states "When loaded, the Scratch front page will randomly select twenty projects from the studio", but it states the exact same thing in "SDS row". The first time, it's not referenced, but the second time it is.

I didn't want to edit the page as I'm not part of the SDS and I don't know whether it's intentional or not. If anyone can check this out that'd be neat, thanks :)
NilsTheBest (talk | contribs) 22:01, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

I've tried to remove some of the redudancies without getting rid of too much page information.

Removing the 'the current theme is' sentence on the first paragraph

It might be a better idea to link the user to the official SDS profile page instead of updating every so often about what the current theme is. This is because of the following reasons:

  1. It gets outdated really quickly
  2. We already need to update 2 more pages every time a new SDS is released:
    1. The 'studios' page - We'll need to add the previous studio to there.
    2. The current themes template page

Thanks!

Thoughts on the last section with studios per S:NOSP?

In the last section there is a list of studios, the last three of which are not official studios endorsed by the Scratch Team. Do you all think these are notable enough to keep?
Leahcimto scratch profile picture.png leahcimto talkcontribsprofile 01:19, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

@Leahcimto The first two studios seems good enough to be included since they're mostly for ST purposes (despite not being created by ST). The third and fourth one is a bit more problematic but I can see why they have been included there, although they could be deleted. The last two studios' entries are added by the same user who created that studio so it's (probably) NOSP violation.
