"Scripts"??

Yes Resolved (since 22:04, 13 November 2020 (UTC))

The use of the name "Scripts" for the 0.1 equivalent of 2.0 My Blocks is misleading because "script" usually refers to script. I think that section should use another word, like "procedure" or "routine". If the 0.1 editor directly calls these "scripts" (I didn't check so I didn't change it), this section should specify, "what were called 'scripts'," and it should note that it is not referring to the same scripts that the page script is about.

I see this has been fixed; thanks to Retro_person :)

Let's rename this to Scratch 0.1

 Unresolved (see all...)

It is confusing, saying Scratch 14Feb04.

14Feb04 is the correct, common name. And wasn't there a lost 2003 build? If there was, this is no longer 0.1.

The pre-1.0 (Beta) versions all have specific names. This is also not the first. This is also impossible because 0.1 and Scratch 0.1 both redirect here.

0.1 (Disambiguation)

Both this and 11Oct03 say they are sometimes called 0.1 so I believe that 0.1 should redirect to a disambiguation with both.
Gengar_owo (talk | contribs) 07:52, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

Yes, both are commonly referred to as "Scratch 0.1". However, prior to the rediscovery of 11Oct03 in late 2022, Scratch14Feb04 was commonly referred to as "0.1" due to its similarity to a supposed screenshot of Scratch "0.1". (After later comparison to various other builds of the late 2003/early 2004 era, it was concluded that this screenshot was most likely of a January 2004 version.)
The October 2003 version of Scratch was officially referred to as "0.1" by MIT as early as January 30th, 2004 (also the origin of the aforementioned supposed 0.1 screenshot), and the versions later in 2004 as "0.2". In conclusion, I think there should be a brief clarification somewhere either on the 14Feb04 or 11Oct03 pages (or perhaps on both), explaining that although 14Feb04 is commonly referred to as 0.1, 11Oct03 was the more-or-less "official" 0.1.

.scratch Page?

I am sorry for creating two sections in this talk page, but I believe a page for the .scratch file extension could be of use. I also have not really done much in this wiki.
Gengar_owo (talk | contribs) 08:06, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

That might be rather useful, yes. I don't think the 0.x .scratch file format has been properly analyzed yet. I do know that (if I recall correctly) Scratch26May04 heavily revamped the 0.x .scratch format, adding a background sprite, a very early form of costumes (switchable by using the "look like [ ]" block), and a very early sprite selector, finally giving a use to the bottom-right pane of the editor.
However, this and every subsequent Scratch version also rendered all projects made in previous versions unreadable, since previous versions didn't have costumes for each sprite and handled changing sprites' appearance differently. To my knowledge, this is the earliest version whose projects can still be read by Scratch 1.x. This essentially gives us two different formats with the same file extension.
