Descriptions
Should a short description of each sound be added? I think this would be a great way to expand the article, but I don't wanna do it without first checking that it's agreed to be a good idea T8thegr8st (talk | contribs) 02:44, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- @T8thegr8st — But how? Some of these are far too obvious to be explained, like C Piano.

- @Purin2022 —Honestly, I'm not completely sure, but I think having redundant text would be better than not being explained enough.

- @Purin2022, T8thegr8st: Well, for "C Piano" what octave is it? I think a good, if redundant, description is best.

- @Purin2022, Lovecodeabc: Is there any precedent for how the formatting of explaining these would work? Because most of the list articles I've looked through for this either are very basic lists without explanations like this one (but they weirdly don't have the expansion template) or lists that have links for each member. Can anyone confirm if there is a precedent?

Support All "list articles" are very small, so this would give us something to expand them. @T8thegr8st We currently don't 'explain' lists, we just write them down, so we'll have to make a format for list descriptions.

- @Vdiu: I was thinking either hyphenation or adding a colon after what the list entry is, but would this be something the wiki staff would decide or would it be something else?

@T8thegr8st — Blocks#List of Blocks is a precedent of what we're going to do, with hyphens. But I don't know how to describe sounds... Doorbell is just doorbell; it'd be really crazy if we explained doorbell as doorbell. Purin2022 | π¬Talk | πContribs | π±Scratch 16:14, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Purin2022: I think I'm gonna try and come up with descriptions that are as helpful and explanatory as possible, I'll do that over the next bit of time I have, I think you can try and improve my descriptions after if you see a better way of explaining them

- @Purin2022 Some sounds cannot be explained, like doorbell, so maybe we could just write "self explanetary" or leave it blank.
- @T8thegr8st We don't have "wiki staff", the editors just make edits and other editors adjust/correct them. For consistency with the list of blocks, we'll probably do something like "List Item — list item's description".
