Out of date?

Since most/all of these modifications are for old versions of Scratch, I wonder whether the wording at the top (or even the page title) should be changed so it doesn't lead new users into thinking they're going to find something useful here.--

Kavinkarthi (talk | contribs) 15:41, 6 April 2022 (UTC) You are right i am trying to sort this by version but let me see if i can complete it as i also do reviews.

Modifications?

I feel that a number of the items mentioned on this page can't really be called Scratch modifications. Any one here qualified to judge which ones ought to be removed or moved to a more suitable list?--
Despicable Dad (talk | contribs) 02:53, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

(Scratch Modification)

Why do all modifications have to have '(Scratch Modification)' after the title? The only time I've ever seen something in parenthesis after a title is when there are parenthesis actually in the title [like "Break On Through (To The Other Side)"] or when there are two (or more) articles that would otherwise have conflicting titles. Is there a real reason for this?
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 17:41, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

I don't know, that's the way it's done.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:46, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
It's to keep article names 'categorized' and less confusing.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:30, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
I think its because some mods are based on BYOB or Panther. ;)
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 20:23, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
This is bothering me again and I think it's dumb :'(
And aren't categories for categorisation, not titles??
veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 00:15, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
You're right. And what about all the block articles saying "(block)"?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:35, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
I guess that's to separate them from their corresponding (value) articles, and I guess it just looked better if they all had them. I also like the (Scratch Modification) thing because it tells me (and others) at a glance what the thing is about.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 11:55, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
Still think we should change this.

Copyrights

How many of these go against Scratch copyright laws? Here's what I found:

  • Net Scratch
  • Not Scratch
  • SraTch - complete cheat
  • Scratch++
  • ScratcHTML
  • Scritch - very similar
  • Useful Itch - what a joke!

Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:50, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Well the Scratch Team have said 'you cannot use the word "Scratch" to refer to derivative works,' so I don't know whether that spans to anything with the word "Scratch" in it or whether it's just if you call it simply "Scratch." Net Scratch definitely doesn't infringe copyright as it was developed by the Scratch Team. Plus just because something sounds similar or has the same meaning doesn't make it go against any rules, at least not on a thing like Scratch... Besides, it doesn't really concern the Scratch Wiki does it? We didn't develop them...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 17:11, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
No, but if they ever get removed due to copyright laws, this could be a place to find them! Maybe the ST should be notified of these. :/
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:57, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Net Scratch isn't even a mod, It was made by the scratch team, and wasn't meant to be published. It's basicly an old version of scratch 2.0.

Not Scratch made me lol XD
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 13:29, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

ScratcHTML

Is ScratcHTML still being made? I think I'll remove it. The forum topic is dead, it's been basically replaced by Web Blox. ;)
Mcsugarface (talk | contribs) 07:15, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

This is a list of all Scratch Modifications, past, present and future planned. I will revert your earlier edit. Also, when you start a new conversation, please put it under a new heading at the bottom of the page. :)

Remove ones without references or pages?

If we couldn't find anything about it, is it worth mentioning at all? There's no way to know if it even exists!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:20, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to look for references for those, and if I can't find anything about it I'll remove it. I think every one was supposed to either have a reference or a page originally.

Deletion of Mods

I saw that sci and someone else were talking about deleting the names of mods that didn't have references or pages. Could I delete those?

Remove unreleased mods?

I'm well underway getting a reference for each mod. Should I remove the ones that are unreleased?

Yes, please do.

Okay, I'm commenting out the ones I can see are unreleased at a glance. I (or someone else) will have to go through the list later to make sure for each one.

Blue Mod

I found a Scratch 2.0 mod named Blue but there's already the mod Blue on the page. Is that the same one?
PrincessPandaLover (talk | contribs) 22:07, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes.
Djdolphin (talk | contribs) 17:43, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay :)

More than One Reference OK?

I found a scratch mod that had more than reference. I removed the one to the website, but are you allowed to have more than one? At the bottom of the page, it only says one is allowed.
Helloandgoodbye9 (talk | contribs) 07:07, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

You should only need one. One is enough to prove it's a real mod and if we added two for each one the references section would be overcrowded.
Hamish752 (talk | contribs) 07:09, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you, and I agree with that.

Can we add Sharp?

Sharp is a mod made by me and a few others but there's no Scratch Wiki article for it, and it isn't listed on this list
DrKat123 (talk | contribs) 07:54, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Yes. Only create the article if it's notable enough.

Add Scrap?

Scrap is a mod for Scratch but I'm having trouble finding out how to add it... The page on the forums is https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/229671/ Also could you show me the code you used to add it?
DeleteThisAcount (talk | contribs) 18:17, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

I added it. The way you add something to the list is you find the section it would go in, then edit that section (in your case the "S" section), then add "*Mod name<ref>forum or website url</ref>" at the appropriate place in the list.

Blue - Should I write a wiki page?

I'm debating whether or not to make a wiki page about [blue.gwiddle.co.uk Blue,] the Scratch Modifcation. Any thoughts? EDIT: jvvg removed the 'Blue' page a few years ago.
Redglitter (talk | contribs) 18:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

If it was removed, it was for a purpose. It's better not to bring it back.
Drunken_Sailor (talk | contribs) 18:56, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Okay. Just It was removed because it was only in its alpha then, now it's in its beta but I think it's unfinished - so I thought it should maybe be brought back?
Redglitter (talk | contribs) 19:14, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Hmmm. Ask jvvg.
Drunken_Sailor (talk | contribs) 19:48, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Oh my god

This is going to take quite a while to update references - I'll add this to WikiMonitor's rapid-edit-ignore list for now.

Add Phosphorus, Forkphorus and Turbowarp?

I was wondering whether these are worth adding. They are technically Scratch modifications as they improve runtime... https://phosphorus.github.io https://forkphorus.github.io https://turbowarp.github.io

I'm sure we no longer allow documenting mods anymore.

Sort By Scratch Modification Based on

This article should be sorted on the basis of scratch versions or a seperate page should be made for the reason. Like Scratch 1.x , 2.0 and 3.0 Modification.

New Scratch mods

I found two Scratch modifications. The links are given below:

  • Aerfaying (aerfaying.com)
  • Xueersi (code.xueersi.com)

I don't know if they violate Scratch's copyright laws or anything, but I'm unsure about adding them.

I made it before I knew what I was doing and it kinda sucks. Can it be removed from the list? :)

PenguinMod isn't allowed, right?

I won't link to the website for safety reasons.
I stumbled upon PenguinMod a while ago. It's a mod of a mod (TurboWarp), so I guess it's a Scratch mod too? I reason why I chose not to include a link is because the instant I got there I saw comments where people were dropping f-bombs. And one of the rules for uploading projects is relaxed on swear words. So I'm pretty sure that's not allowed to be listed here, especially since very few Scratchers are aware of its existence. What do you think?
Cutebross260IsBack Icon.png cutebross260IsBack ( TalkContribsScratch (BobRocks20) ) 06:26, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Scratch does not allow linking to sites where one can easily find content that violates the Community Guidelines, so I would be inclined to agree that we shouldn't link to that site.
