Program not working

I'm trying to use the first program in 3.2 and it says 'c' is a bad typecode. Could someone fix that?

Why does it work?

I do know Python, but I'm having trouble understanding why it works. First, why port 42001? Second, how do you run the project? And third, what other commands can be sent?

Port 42001 is the port Scratch communicates on.
