Warp?

What does the warp block do? And should we explain it here?
Tymewalk (talk | contribs) 23:34, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Notable?

I don't think BeetleBlocks is notable.
Mitopolis (talk | contribs) 21:00, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

I'd say it is. It's scratch 3d which many people have requested. So why not have it?
Programmer1121 (talk | contribs) 21:43, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
I think it is notable since it is based off of Scratch, just like Snap!
The_Grits (talk | contribs) 12:52, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
@Mitopolis: BeetleBlocks is more significant to DACH Scratchers than English Scratchers. Although it might not be significant to us, it is significant to them.

I also vote keep. I'm going to remove the templates because it seems like we've decided to keep it...

Because there was the same discussion at the CP I made my comment there, see: SWT:CP#BeetleBlocks.

Merge

Whilst it's definitely similar to Snap!, (because they're both based off Scratch) I don't think it's a good idea to merge it. After all, they're two very different programming languages.

Lol, nothing else to say? :P

Hamish752 (talk | contribs) 04:13, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. It is not actually a subset or branch of Snap!, so I also think it should maintain its own article.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 13:35, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Also to me it makes no sense to merge it. They are different languages with different purposes and applications. Snap! is for learning advanced programming concepts within a block based language, BeetleBlocks is a block based language to create 3D models which you can print on a 3D printer.

Every feature in Snap! is in BeetleBlocks. And actually, they are two very similar programming languages. If I saw the default BeetleBlocks interface, I would think, "It looks almost exactly like Snap!."
Mitopolis (talk | contribs) 18:24, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Naturally every feature in Snap! is in BeetleBlocks because BeetleBlocks is a Mod of Snap! So the article must only explain the differences of BeetleBlocks in comparism to Snap! That exactly means that there must be two different articles. That's the same like with every Mod.
MartinWollenweber (talk | contribs) 23:18, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Beetle Blocks, due to having its output in 3D does not implement sprites, costumes and all the looks blocks. On the other hand it provides a true 3D stage. Also Snap! has a cloud storage, while Beetle Blocks does not provide one. So the statement "every feature in Snap! is in BeetleBlocks" is not correct, they are actually quite different.
Frodewin (talk | contribs) 20:27, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────OK. But actually, I found a similarity. 3D arrays in Snap!, 3D graphics in BeetleBlocks. Is Snap! based on BYOB? Yes. Do Snap! and BYOB have separate articles? No. See? I think a "BeetleBlocks" section in Snap! would be perfect.
Popular GIF.gif Mitopolis (Talk | Contributions | Edits | Scratch account) 21:05, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

3D arrays and 3D graphics are pretty different things (all a 3D array means is first-class objects, allowing you to have a list of lists, whereas 3D graphics means that the graphics engine is different, allowing you to display stuff as if it were in three dimensions). Also, Snap! is basically the next version of BYOB, and they are a relatively continuous project, whereas BeetleBlocks is a branch (and therefore a separate project), so it should be treated as a different entity.

Mention that BeetleBlocks is being phased out

On BeetleBlocks' homepage, it states that BeetleBlocks is being phased out. Maybe we should update the page to somehow mention this?
