Should Whirl Cat be added to the list?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, look here. It's been spread around the forums, but I don't know if we can consider it a "trend" yet.
Pavcato (talk | contribs) 02:05, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

It seems like the other trends were/are much more widespread and existed for larger periods of time, so I'm not sure about that just yet.

Yes Probably - but we need further approval.
Lovecodeabc Links: talk (new topic) | contribs (744) | directory 14:20, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
How much approval do we need exactly? Also, I think the trend should be here, it's quite popular in my opinion. The topic almost has 30 pages and the studio has a good amount of users as well.
XXRedTheCoderXx (talk | contribs) 17:47, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Yes Probably - but not now.

Other trends were spread out more, while the "Whirl Cat" trend has barley reached anybody. If the Whirl Cat studio reaches 100+ members, we can add it. Till then, I think you should just keep the template code in a notepad window and save it for later
Basic88 (talk | contribs) 18:33, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Right now it's only spread out across TFH..
Lovecodeabc Links: talk (new topic) | contribs (744) | directory 14:20, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
Yes. I counted up all the whirled people in the studio and there is a total of 24. I think we will need 50-100 members in order to qualify. Also, page and count doesn't matter, most of the pages are just meme creations and meme reviews by the same 20 people.
Basic88 (talk | contribs) 17:29, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
Because people are edit warring over this, I have protected the page. Please let me know on my talk page once a consensus is reached (I don't really have an opinion of my own in this, I just wanted to explain the situation).
jvvg (talk | contribs) 17:57, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
I think Whirl Cat is not popular enough for this page yet, because according to Basic88, there are only 24 whirl cat logos, and TRXYE doesn't deserve to be here yet 30 TRXYE projects were made in a time when Scratch had many less users.
Mlcreater (talk | contribs) 20:15, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
I agree that it's not popular enough, and so we should wait on adding it. However, Getting 30 when scratch had a lot less people is in my opinion famous enough. According to the statistics page scratch has 66,644,393 users registered and growing. This data seems to have been updated yesterday, so we can assume that it is fairly accurate. If we round up to 70,000,00 and if even 10,000,000 of those are active, 24 isn't very big.

Dogsmakemehappy (talk | contribs) 20:30, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Can we take the 21,770,980 unique visitors to mean users that were active? Also, that data seems to have been updated sometime last month.
Dogsmakemehappy (talk | contribs) 20:33, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

I just realized how much controversy this trend has caused. It would be unfair to put Whirl Cat because it is simply too small. While some of us are Wiki editors and part of the trend, we shouldn't try to get fame through an informational article. It's just wrong.

Basic88 (talk | contribs) 22:40, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

"Profile picture" vs. "pfp"

Just to weigh in and avoid an edit war, I will cite the Wiki guidelines:

Use correct Scratch vocabulary and avoid jargon/colloquial language.

"pfp" is colloquial language, so we should thus avoid it. Also in general more formal language should be used wherever possible.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:55, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Yeet The simba

Is it actually considered a trend? The studio only has 7 managers (2 of which aren't using the pfp) and 19 curators (1 of which who isn't using the pfp), so 23 users are part of the trend. Also, Are we being paid to advertise the lion king? Is all the information on the lion king needed?
Dogsmakemehappy (talk | contribs) 13:44, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

I ended up watching the lion king apparently.. 23 users isn't a lot. Maybe we can add this later, maybe not. In the moment I'm removing it.
Lovecodeabc Links: talk (new topic) | contribs (744) | directory 14:03, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
I don't think it should be added, first of all, since it has the same popularity as Whirl Cat, but that wasn't added, and also the section was poorly made and just copied from Wikipedia.
Pavcato (talk | contribs) 21:29, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
It was added, and I was mentioning this as should it be removed. I should've phrased it better.
Dogsmakemehappy (talk | contribs) 21:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Remove 'Coloured Coder Accounts'

I think the Coloured Coder accounts section should be removed. The studio only seems to contain 27 (excluding the original user which the accounts were named after) of such, could be borderline promoting a user and might only be common among frequent forum users with lots of posts.

Ukranian flags

I've noticed a few people changing the backdrops of their PFP to the Ukranian flag because of the Russo-Ukranian war. Not including me, I've seen 5 people today with Ukranian flag backdrops, and I'm certain there's more. Should this be added as a trend or is it not popular enough yet?
ScratchCat1038 (talk | contribs) 21:57, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Yes Support. I think it's enough people to be notable. Also, I've seen lots of people change their signatures to include support for Ukraine, so maybe a discussion should be started on it's talk page as well.
Jackson49 (talk | contribs) 23:38, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
I also found a topic on the forums in which all posts except post #7 are made by users with Ukranian flag backdrops. I feel that's a big spike too.
ScratchCat1038 (talk | contribs) 00:16, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

x__0 cite note goes to x_0

In the section discussing x__0 accounts, there's a link to the x__0 profile. However, clicking it takes you to a different user, x_0, with one underscore. I'm not sure if this is some kind of MediaWiki bug or something, because trying to fix it doesn't do anything.

About mystery accounts

I have no doubt that my latest addition to this page should be on this page. However, I feel like the current version seems too self-indulgent, although I swear that wasn't intentional. Can anyone think of ways to change that?
UserIconSSB20.jpeg Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 23:07, 3 September 2022 (UTC)

To me, it seems very self-indulgent - that was the first thing I thought of when I saw it - but I honestly can't think of a way to improve it. I don't think Gliffe was the first mystery account, though.
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribsprofile 01:01, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
It wasn't the first, but I unintentionally popularized it, though. You know, I think I might be able to improve it by adding examples of mystery accounts by other users. I'll try that; tell me what you think.
UserIconSSB20.jpeg Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 02:00, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
The way it's written it still seems like it's mainly you bragging. If this is common enough (I don't have enough info to make a judgment call on that one) I think it's a reasonable trend to add, but it should be written in a way that emphasizes the trend and not the individual users.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 18:11, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
I'll try to improve it.
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribsprofile 01:30, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Ok. I’m sorry. This was not done intentionally. I think I can improve it, though.
UserIconSSB20.jpeg Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 01:38, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Personally, I don’t think it seems like you’re bragging, but I'm not sure if it’s notable enough to include in the article. As far as I know, the trend exists almost exclusively in The Forum Helpers.
Jackson49 (talk | contribs) 05:29, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I was gonna say that. It's all forum helpers.
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribsprofile 11:15, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay, first of all, there are some other trends that are pretty much exclusive to forum helpers as well, such as Be Moist or the Butterfly Cult, yet they're still very notable and have inspired a lot of users to make them (and honestly, I wouldn't say either is really comparable to the mystery account trend). Second, I know a number of non-forum helpers who have made some mystery accounts as well. Off the top of my head, I can think of @Mirrable and @SaimAxe. But anyway, this proves that mystery accounts are not exclusive to forum helpers.
UserIconSSB20.jpeg Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 09:50, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Well, this still may be notable; TFH users dominate a large portion of the site (the forums).
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribsprofile 11:29, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Just looked at the article, I see that "Butterfly Cult" isn't on there (I didn't know what is was so I looked).
Han614698 H Logo.png han614698 talkcontribsprofile 11:31, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
I think it might have been removed for not being notable. Even so, I'd still say mystery accounts are far more notable than a lot of the trends on here.
UserIconSSB20.jpeg Super_Scratch_Bros20 (talk / contribs) 20:00, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

add gliffe to mystery accounts

It literally started the trend and is as big as silverus imo. I don't think this is being self centered around Super_Scratch_Bros20 either - like what do you expect? They popularised a trend. I didn't think the original article was very brag like, it was honest.

Also about it focusing too much on the individual users there is a whole section about XxRedthecoderxX accounts, so it should be consistent. Either that should be removed or this should stay as its original format. dertermenter

I've read what you said here. I think your point makes sense, but for obvious reasons, I would prefer to hear others' feedback on this.

Yes, you fixed the problem. However, everytime we fix the problem, TemplatesFTW will just undo it as it breaks a style guideline. Not sure what to do.

You need to contact kenny2scratch about that, as I have no control over TFTW.

I've pushed a fix and tested it (note x__0 link was not touched). Thanks for reporting.
