Sharing is a feature in Scratch where projects made with the Online Editor can be made public for everyone to see on the Scratch Website.
One of the founding goals of Scratch is to allow others to view projects, see inside them, and remix them. Only projects made in Scratch are allowed on the Scratch Website. Projects made in Scratch modifications can be uploaded to third-party websites such as Mod Share as well as some modifications providing dedicated sites to upload to.[citation needed]
Sharing
Projects are able to be shared from either the project page or directly from the editor. Projects cannot be shared directly from the Offline Editor: instead, they need to be imported into the online editor using the "Load from your computer" option in the File dropdown. However, the "Share to Website" button in Scratch 2.0 and Scratch 1.4 offline editors are still working as of 2021. Projects can only be shared when the user is signed in and after the email for their account is confirmed.

In the project editor, in the top-right corner adjacent the project page button is a "Share" button which appears for an unshared project. Clicking this will share the project, opening the project page as well.
After August 21st, 2025,[1] when the Share button is clicked, a message pops up asking for whether a new thumbnail should be set for the project or if the project should be shared with the existing thumbnail. This pop-up can be turned off by checking "Don't show this message again".
After sharing, a different bar will appear at the top of the project page.
When a New Scratcher shares a project, the message is different: "Congratulations on sharing your project! Other people can now try it out, give comments, and remix it."
When a project is shared, it becomes publicly viewable to all Scratchers, even if not signed in. Once a project is shared, it becomes possible for anyone to remix the project.
Unsharing
After a project is shared, it may still be unshared by the creator which would prevent other people from seeing it. To do this, go to the My Stuff tab (the file icon) on the Navigation Bar, scroll to the project, and click "Unshare" located under the project stats. After unsharing, a project can later be reshared using the same process as sharing it the first time, but the share date will reset.
