The Set Instrument to () block is a Sound block and a Stack block. The block changes the instrument that the Play Note () for () Beats block plays. It can play any of the 128 general MIDI instruments.
The block was removed and replaced with the Set Instrument to () block in Scratch 2.0 for unknown reasons, but was most likely done due to Flash's lack of MIDI support.
