System Browser
I saw that Jwosty created System Browser, as a redirect to Squeak Smalltalk. Do you guys think that's the right thing? Because I think there could arguably be a separate article for the system browser :P What do you guys think?
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 02:11, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, the System Browser should have a separate article. Sadly, I currently feel too lazy to create it. :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)- It would be a ridiculously long article, if you were going to go into detail. I'd be happy to write it, but it would take a very long time and I don't understand everything, only most things...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 07:19, 26 August 2010 (UTC) - It doesn't need to be ridiculously long - just a nice description of the System Browser or something. It doesn't need to explain everything...

- Yeah, just like Jonathanpb said. Just create the article for now with a brief description - others can improve on it :)
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 16:12, 26 August 2010 (UTC)- I did that because you said that there should only be one article on Squeak... But I'll write the article if no one else has! :D Also, is there a way to link to categories on a page? Jwosty 02:36, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Aww man!! I just made things worse. :( I was going to write the article and I moved the redirect to create a different one, but it created a new one instead of editing the title. Can someone delete the redirects System Browser and Sprit please? Jwosty 21:31, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. :) Jwosty 23:13, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
About the listed admins/bureaucrats in Scratch Wiki:Guidelines
In the section on how to deal with vandalism, it says to pick an admin/bureaucrat and tell them. Some listed are inactive (Scratchteam, for example), so should something be said? A report shouldn't go unnoticed.
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 02:58, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I think that some thing should be said. Jwosty
- Shouldn't Andrés, JSO and Scratchteam be taken off the list? My reasoning:
- There are seven admins (sorry for the lack of modesty):
- Andresmh
- Chrischb
- JSO
- Jonathanpb
- Lucario621
- Scratchteam
- WeirdF
- Lucario, Chris, WeirdF and I are active and come on everyday - but the three others aren't really active:
- Andresmh Only comes on about... once every two weeks? Not very reliable.
- JSO JSO doesn't come on the wiki... let's just say once every month, probably longer.
- Scratchteam Scratchteam has never done anything on the wiki, and probably never will. Probably has never even logged on.
- I think that people would pick one of those three inactive people for sending a report - one's the leader of Scratch, one's an account for the Scratch Team, and one's a Community Moderator. But if someone leaves a report with them, it'll just sit there for weeks before something happens!
- Should we take them off? :/
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:05, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Good decision you guys :)

BYOB Blocks
Should I create a page that lists the new BYOB blocks? I mean, once again, it doesn't have to do with Scratch directly... Jwosty 15:42, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- It would probably be better to list them all on the BYOB article...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 15:57, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree with WeirdF.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 17:03, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree with WeirdF.

About the stub template
The stub marking says "This article is a stub. It may be incomplete, unfinished, or have missing parts/sections.".
It seems to indicate that you're not supposed to help finish it and that you're supposed to let the person who started it do the job - that's not always true...
Can I edit it so it says "This article is a stub. It may be incomplete, unfinished, or have missing parts/sections. If you can expand it, do so!"?
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 07:27, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, the main reason behind that is because I'm thinking about the users who aren't able to edit - the readers. So it might be confusing. But sure, definitely add more to it :).

The FAQ and Guidelines need to be more visible...
Those two pages are very good ones for people to read - but there're not linked to from anywhere. Is there a good way to make them quite visible?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:45, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmph. I've never heard of those pages... :/ Jwosty 03:13, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- That's not unexpected. :) I'll just link to them...
- :) Any answers though?

Userboxes
I found a bunch on someone's user page - are they allowed now?
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 08:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
BTW, they're here.
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 08:43, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Those are old...
- Here's something from Lucario for why userboxes aren't allowed:
- I don't really encourage userboxes because of how it's most of a community feature which I don't promote, because the main Scratch community is supposed to be on the main website, not here, so I don't want people attracted by some people's userboxes to join just for that and their own user page. Userboxes don't really have any benefit to the wiki - so don't bother with it - please set an example :P.
- I think that covers it. :)
