Some links in the Table of Contents
In the block category parts, the links in the headers (Hat Blocks, Stack Blocks) link to their articles, but in the block shape parts, the headers (Control Blocks, Sensing Blocks) link to their parts in the Table of Contents. The two don't match - should we link to parts of the Table of Contents or to the articles?

- LUCARIO OR JSO ANSWER NAO PLEASE :O :O :O
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:18, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not an easy decision, but I feel that the best choice would be to have them link to their TOC pages. This way people can still continue to navigate throughout the TOC and see what different pages there are, without having to leave it.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 04:26, 25 November 2010 (UTC)- Okay :)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)- Sorry for stopping in the middle of my work :p THe links you're talking about should all point to the ToC, and then we could have something like (for example): "More about Control Blocks"" on the control blocks ToC page :)
JSO (talk | contribs) 16:42, 25 November 2010 (UTC)- Ooh, so we get to link to both! Awesome! :D
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 22:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC) - How about (intentional nowiki tags) '''''[[Control Blocks|More about Control blocks]]'''''? Oh, and that could go at the top of the pages. Is that okay? Should the size be bigger?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:15, 28 November 2010 (UTC)- I want an answer :D
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:53, 29 November 2010 (UTC) - Can I just do it how I think it should be, since there have been no replies? :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:58, 1 December 2010 (UTC) - This wiki is dying >_<

What next in the TOC?
I wanna work on it :D

- Hello? :O
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 23:47, 28 November 2010 (UTC)- We should be working on the TOC, or we'll never get it done... please answer bureaucrats.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:32, 1 December 2010 (UTC)- Hmm... Lucario? JSO? Where are you?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 19:35, 1 December 2010 (UTC) - Lucario mentioned on Skype that he didn't know what to say :P And yesterday I Skyped JSO asking him to answer, but I haven't received a response yet...
- Honestly, I feel that this wiki is sort of dying; there aren't that many of us still coming on here, there aren't many article edits being done (it's mainly just you, I'm surprised that you can still find things to edit xD), we're just working on the TOC now - well, we would, but we don't even know what part of it we should be working on.
- This wiki would be more active if we hadn't done such a great job on it; we don't really have anything to edit now xD

I know I've probably said this 1000 times, but when Scratch 2.0 comes out, we'll have plenty to do. And it's not long now, it's coming out next year, and it's already December.
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 10:18, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I can't wait :D
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 10:44, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- Nobody actually knows *when* Scratch 2.0 will come out. We don't want to necessarily rush the Scratch Team ;). 2011 is just an approximation date. It could be earlier, or later. Hope this clears some things up :)

- Someone answer my question already >_> What next to do in the TOC!?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:36, 4 December 2010 (UTC)- It's far from complete, it should provide a way to easily explore Scratch. You should just do what you want to do, what seems good. We can always change, undo or improve afterwards. Let's just get this ToC done so it can be put on the homepage. hmmm wait I have an idea; What if I post it on the Home Page already so it pushes you to work hard on it >:D

- And yes, put it on the main page :P

"See Also" sections...
I was just wondering, should they go before or after the references section in an article?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 08:38, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- O_o I think before, but that's just my opinion. ^_^
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 08:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Before.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 14:23, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh noez, I forgot about the See Also stuff! :O BAD ME I'll try and help :D

Missing articles
1. Groups. Could someone work on the missing articles linked from Collaboration (group) and from Role-Playing Game. Basically we need someone to dig into the history of each collab and RPG, specially the old ones that are part of the history of Scratch. I've been considering putting up a survey where we ask the community to give a list of companies and a descriptions and create a spreadsheet with this. Then we could create articles of a subset of those groups.
2. Can someone work on documenting everything that happened in the past Scratch Olympics and the Scratch Wars, both of them engaged tons of people and they don't even have articles! Others that are missing: Takis, Hamsters, Nonsence Land, etc. We basically need to document these phenomena so that someone that doesn't know anything about Scratch or those groups could understand what people do on the website. They are part of the community's culture and history, yet they are not documented.
3. The technical description of Scratch and the blocks seems very complete already, if anything, we're missing more tutorials. Look at what people ask often on the forums or common mistakes on projects and create an article about it and then give the link to people who are struggling with that.
Finally, for those who say the wiki is dying. Here is a chart of visits to the wiki. You can see the wiki gets more than 8,000 visits per month and it has been stable for a while.
Also, if you want to see what people are searching in Google that leads them to the wiki, here are the list of most common searches.
Andresmh (talk | contribs) 02:50, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- You're so smart, giving a list of what to do :O I wish I thought of that :O
- I think you mean Tokis, not Takis. :P
- Meh, let's get to work... but I don't know much about the Scratch Olympics and Scratch Wars. ^_^ And as for the Tokis, Maki-Tak can do that - except I think she's on vacation at the moment. :/
- For the articles on Jigglers RPG and the Scratch companies - I don't think any of us know much about them... should we go and invite involved Scratchers to create articles about them?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:19, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, part of the role of an editor is to spend the time researching what each thing is :-) You can read through comments, projects, etc and write a first version of the article. Then you can invite people who know more to make corrections. Of course, of those people are eager to write the articles that would be great, but we cannot assume they will do it. And yeah, it's Takis hehe. Thanks.
Andresmh (talk | contribs) 06:01, 4 December 2010 (UTC)- WOAH! According to the chart of keywords, people have been directed to the wiki 128 times by searching "dazman test" and people who visited by this method spent an average of 14 minutes on the wiki!
Dazman (talk | contribs) 06:44, 4 December 2010 (UTC)- Was that you doing it Dazman? :P
- I might go ask some RPGers in Jigglers RPG to create an article about the RPG... if I'm as brave as Lucario :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:31, 4 December 2010 (UTC) - Ooh - should we make a topic in Miscellaneous asking people that were involved in things such as Scratch Wars to create articles on them? (I think it'd be good if the articles were created by people that were involved with the subject; more reliable and better information ;))
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:38, 4 December 2010 (UTC) - I am proud to say that I never search for my test account. Only my main one.
Dazman (talk | contribs) 17:40, 4 December 2010 (UTC)- Don't know why it's so popular then :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 22:35, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Look at the archives for the Community Portal... how did that blue border thing happen? And the text is centered too. :/
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:40, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't notice anything wrong... Though I may have messed something up when I created the archive (sorry about that, I just wanted a go :P)... Sorry! >.<
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 08:52, 4 December 2010 (UTC) - Fixed - I completely reworked that messy table layout. It's now just one div element with link on each line.

Tutorial categories in ToC
What tutorial categories would we choose? When I wanted to add tutorial projects to SR I made these galleries: [1] . I had Program, Website, Variables-List, Scripting, Drawing-Animation and Other. Would those be ok if we add Math?
JSO (talk | contribs) 13:26, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I created a tutorials page in the ToC. Tell me what you think. The page as it is now is temporary, we will make separate pages for each tutorial category and only keep an overview on the actual Tutorials page. But lets first agree about the categories before making additional pages and icons :)
JSO (talk | contribs) 13:35, 4 December 2010 (UTC) - Math would be nice; there will be plenty of tutorials for it. :) Actually, we already have a few... :P

Embedding Scratch projects in the Wiki?
Is it possible? If it was, we could put example projects up. For example, in Turn-Based RPG, we could embed something like archmage's Mario RPG as an example. So, my two main questions are 1) Can we? and 2) Should we?
Aidan (talk | contribs) 15:38, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I just looked at that article, and he gave a link to this in the description, so maybe that should be embedded instead?
Aidan (talk | contribs) 15:41, 4 December 2010 (UTC) - Wouldn't it be a bit messy to put projects right on a page? :/ But hey, having projects on articles would be really cool. :P
- I don't know if it's possible though...
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 22:40, 4 December 2010 (UTC)- <applet id='ProjectApplet' style='display:block' code='ScratchApplet' codebase='http://scratch.mit.edu/static/misc' archive='ScratchApplet.jar' height='387' width='482'><param name='project' value='../../static/projects/WeirdF/1180704.sb'></applet> <a href='http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/WeirdF/1180704'>Learn more about this project</a>
If we could update the wiki to recognise all of that code, then I assume it would be possible... But to be honest, I don't think that it would be particularly beneficial to the wiki...

Raise awareness
I think it would be good to have more people know about the Wiki as a source of curated knowledge. For that purpose, I'd encourage you to look in forum posts and project comments for questions that are asked repeatedly or that already have an answer in the Wiki. For example, someone was asking about alternatives to Scratch in the forums and I pointed them to the wiki.
Andresmh (talk | contribs) 01:38, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I never miss a chance to advertise the wiki :)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 01:41, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think it would be great if you guys made some Scratch projects about the wiki :). Maybe showing different parts of it, and how to become a contributor. Or just showing the variety of articles, so people are more likely to use it as a source for help.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 15:53, 11 December 2010 (UTC)- That's not the type of Scratch project I would make O_o
- But I might make one anyway :D

- Also, for those that are running out of ideas for new pages to make, here are >200 pages of inspiration :D We should really try to cover at least the common questions in tutorials.

When you click "more..." in the Scratch Program bit of the TOC front page
What exactly should be there? Would it just list the stuff in the Scratch Program category or would it list any other category of stuff related to that category?
