New Election System Proposal
Hello! In the most recent Experienced Wikian election, there were only two candidates: myself and Jammum. Due to this, the admins at the time decided not to use Borda count system (in which candidates are ranked from favorite to least favorite), and instead did a more simple way of voting.
Basically, you could vote for either candidate (or, choose not to vote for either) and vote if you approved the candidate(s). If the candidates had 50% or more of a support vote, then they were elected EW.
I feel like this way of voting doesn't pit candidates against eachother and create rivalries over who'll get the higher number of points since voters can abstain from voting for one candidate or the other (or both, I suppose); each candidate is focused more on themselves, rather then their opponent.
To get to my point, I feel like that, if/when the Wiki administration decides to have another election, we should use this new system, not the Borda one, no matter the number of candidates.
Of course, the Borda system does have its ups when there are many candidates; however, I think a mix of the two might be helpful to the administration in the future (possibly requiring all voters to vote for each candidate, and maybe increasing the minimun support percent to 60 or 75%). Any thoughts?

- The reason we normally have an election using the Borda count system is we want to limit the number of Experienced Wikians, as the more we have the harder it is to coordinate, and the saying goes "too many cooks spoil the broth." We used the confidence system this time because we only had two selected to run (we wanted two), so there was no issue of adding too many. Unfortunately, I think some amount of pitting candidates against each other is inevitable if we want to achieve the result of not having too many EWs. That being said, we are open to potential alternative voting strategies that still ensure we avoid having too many EWs elected (for reference, we usually want two per election).

KangaCoder talk • contribs • profile 20:35, 17 February 2022 (UTC)- I have an idea on this topic. Why not have polling system. This is only for 3 and more. In this a person can only vote 2 people. 1 person will be voted 1 who the person wants the second most and 2nd will be voted 2 and it is first preference and as you are electing 1-2 people then count which person has most points will be EW. Through this there are pretty less chances of many people being elected

Possible new TOC Design (or just better way to have multiple columns)
I have made a (possible) new design using scratchwikiframe. Or we can just use the new grid css so it uses the entire width. You can View them here and here.

In the editor, scratch blocks don't preview. Instead, you see the code for the blocks. I'm not the only one who is facing this issue, TenType has faced it as well.

Create a Page Expansion Invitation System
This would be similar to the Discussion Invitation System, but only, it would be for inviting people to expand pages. I know this might sound like it's not needed, because there is already Category:Articles to Expand, but no one sees this much. There are almost a 100 pages in this category, so obviously not many people are seeing this category.
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 16:10, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- I actually think that a "pages that should be created" list would be useful too. With such, the people would get motivated to write more new articles.
ahmetlii Talk Contributions Directory 18:46, 20 August 2022 (UTC)- @ahmetlii I think that would be a good idea. The only issue is what sort of articles could actually be included, as there are not many more articles as such to create.
Filmlover12 Talk Contribs Scratch 18:57, 20 August 2022 (UTC)- I feel like that it the issue with missing articles. It is hard to find the last few pages that are needed, like it is hard to take the last few impurities from water. I also feel like the invitation system should only be used if needed in a hurry (rush/emergency), like for current effects or if it is linked from a featured article or image/wiki Wednesday.
Ideapad-320 | Talk | Contribs | Scratch 02:05, 22 August 2022 (UTC)- @Ideapad-320 Good idea. There should also be a list of people who are free so they can respond quickly in an emergency. But I feel like this system would be rarely used then, like once or twice a year to create pages for special events like April Fools Day that will be gone in a few days.

- @-iviedwall-, well, the system will be in use until all 100 pages in Category:Articles to Expand are expanded. After that, we can see.

- @Filmlover12: You're quite right about it, but even if any active user would put an article per year, that would make at least 20 articles. And I think there are many, many things that conform to the existing Wiki rules but waiting to be documented. Even the calls and functions inside 3.0 might worth documented: we have many articles about Squeak function calls but not much about Scratch VM (Though JA wiki made some good ones as far as I've understood).
- @Vdiu: good question. Most of the people don't even notice Special:WantedPages so I am quite suspicious about it as well. There might be something fancy like "Create-A-Page Marathon" for a certain period so that the people would be more willing to contribute on something. There might be also like a monthly cooperation project with different themes each month (like expanding stubs, translating missing articles from other wikis or vice versa - namely, DE and JP, this would also motivate some bilingual or multilingual users that knows the language as well; or creating pages on a certain topic - say, Forums).

Regarding the development builds of 1.x (2003-2009)
Hello, i'm a member of the 'Block Coding Archive', an archive that focuses on block-based programming by the Lifelong Kindergarten and Playful Invention Company corporations.
I would like to clarify that we've found over 173 new builds that were compiled throughtout the development of Scratch 1.x (2003-2009), found on John Maloney (one of the people that worked on Scratch during the early-mid 2000s)'s former website.
The reason why i'm posting this is because i want to document all 173 and also remove some misinformation on the already existing pages for 14Feb04, 13Oct04, etc. We also found new obsolete blocks in some of the builds (There were scrapped file blocks!), so i'd be happy if they get listed on the List of Obsolete Blocks page.
All of the new development builds can be found under the '2003-2009 Development Builds' folder in the Google Drive archive: (link removed - unmoderated chat an you can't link this on scratch)
Anyways, this is all i have to say for now. I'll update you guys when a new build comes out.
Peace out!
(Oh yeah, one more thing that i forgot to mention is that the earliest build we have now is 11Oct03.)

@han614698: The Google Drive link is definitely not an "unmoderated chat", it doesn't have any features to comment through the file as long as it's provided that:
it's not a Google Docs file, and
even if it is, then it shall have the comment feature disabled with view-only mode.

Ideapad-320 | Talk | Contribs | Scratch 00:17, 3 October 2022 (UTC)- @han614698:
“ | Google Drive is strictly forbidden on Scratch, | ” |
- Just looked at the forums, the reason for this particular ban is that the email address is shown (on particular setups as far as I am aware), which is an understandable concern and something that I didn't realize at first to be in violation of the CG. I'd expect reasoning of the concern to be exactly mentioned on this thread though (nobody is a soothsayer), and there is the point that the site - on many cases - itself does not directly redirect you into unmoderated chat (otherwise we wouldn't mention many more sites, for example Wikipedia). Still, it'd be otherwise fine to put those files under other file sharing services.
- Also Discord is essentially different, it is totally focused on chat services so the reasoning of that ban is quite apparent.
- Edit: But still, making the info that can be easily used for unmoderated chat available on the linked page is not allowed under CG.
ahmetlii Talk Contributions Directory 20:39, 2 October 2022 (UTC)- I've uploaded the entire archive to the Wiki servers instead - https://en.scratch-wiki.info/w/images/Scratch_2003_-_2009_Development_Builds.zip - so I've now safely removed the Google Drive link. Google Drive links have been removed by the Scratch Team before so I'm not taking chances.
Note: This is a direct file transfer, not a Special:Upload, so there is no File: page for that zip. The direct link is all we have. - @MixelFanUTP - you're free to create whatever pages / make whatever edits you feel are appropriate. I'm not seeing any consensus on the proper format so just go ahead and people will likely clean up after you.
- You can use the link I gave above as a citation if necessary. Let me know if the Google Drive is updated significantly enough that the file stored on the Wiki should be updated. I've bookmarked your original link so you don't need to break guidelines by posting it again.
- Thanks for doing this. Archival is an important part of documentation.

MediaWiki 1.39 upcoming upgrade
Hi everyone,
As some of you are aware, our current practice is to keep the Wiki on the long-term support (LTS) versions of MediaWiki released every two years. The next LTS version, MediaWiki 1.39, will be coming out relatively soon. Our current plan is to upgrade to it when we believe it is ready.
MediaWiki 1.39 includes a number of breaking changes for extensions we have relied on. For our in-house developed extensions and skin, we are currently in the process of making the necessary changes to ensure compatibility. For third-party extensions, we will need to conduct an audit and see which ones have updates available. As a result, we probably will not be ready to upgrade immediately when it comes out, but hopefully not too long after.
What does this mean for everyone here? Odds are the experience of viewers and editors won't change much, though of course each update adds new features and fixes bugs. There will probably be some downtime associated with this upgrade, but hopefully it will be minimal (the upgrade to 1.35 resulted in less than an hour of downtime, and we can probably significantly reduce that this time). We will post updates as we have them.
I also want to specifically thank apple502j for their work in modernizing a lot of our extensions in preparation for this. Their work gave us a massive head start on this and is going to make this process a lot easier.

Add a mentioning system
So, when you type @ and then someone's username, there should be a feature that pings you. Sort of like the bar which comes up when someone posts a message on your talk page. I know this suggestion was rejected on scratch due to spam, but that's not a problem here. You can only have one account and if you spam you will be banned. Another alternative would be pinging you when a page on your watchlist has been edited.

- What can I suggest?
You can suggest any image(s) on the English Scratch Wiki that have not been featured previously.
- How do I tell if an image has already been featured?
It will have the {{featured}} template on it, shown as a star icon in the top right corner of the image page.

Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 15:56, 16 December 2022 (UTC)- It wouldnt be fair to have a logo for Christmas and not for other holidays, it would take a long time to create a logo for each holiday and a lot of people might not even know about some holidays. Therefore, i think it would be best to not add a Christmas logo. But the logo you created looks amazing by the way :)
Python_master20 (talk | contribs) 23:32, 16 December 2022 (UTC)- +1. It probably shouldn't be an official Wiki celebration. For example, I don't celebrate Christmas and relevant holidays. However, I think that celebrating Scratch Day/Month (often around May) or the 15th anniversary of Scratch Wiki (on 06 December 2023) would be a better idea.

Suggestions
here are a 2 suggestions i thought would be useful on the wiki.
- Maybe a template that people could to articles that says that they reviewed the article and edited it and found no mistakes there. It would be helpful because it would let people know that someone found no mistakes and its most likely to have no mistakes.
- A barnstar or something kinda like they have on wikipedia to let people know that they made good edits or to let people know they made a mistake.
Python_master20 (talk | contribs) 23:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- What if someone didnt notice the mistake......
SpaghettiAG852097- talk • contribs • profile 04:21, 1 January 2023 (UTC)- The thing above is a issue, everyone makes mistakes. Multiple editors reading articles is better than 1 editor reading it, missing some possible mistakes and marking it as flawless so others skip it.
- As for the barnstars, you can use User:Dominic305/Templates/Trout Selector and User:Dominic305/Templates/Barnstar/Selector or User:Vdiu/Cookie Selector. You just have to put it on your userpage and it will work.
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 10:31, 3 January 2023 (UTC)- @SpaghettiAG852097- and @Vdiu, I said "its most likley to have no mistakes". But I do agree with you. Everyone does make mistakes. Also, thanks for the templates. I didnt know if i could use someone elses template or not.

Compressing Files and Archiving

Whenever I add a file to the Wiki I always compress it but once I download it and add it to the Wiki it comes not compressed. Like for example I use a iPad by the way and I compress it on TinyPNG. Like for example on the file File:Scratchtober 2020.png I compressed it but it appeared as 68 KB. I use a iPad and I use TinyPNG to compress. Also, there are a almost 100 topics on the communtiy portal and if you scroll all the way up it says "Size of Community Portal: 125,514 bytes. Time to archive!" so shouldnt we archive it now? Just asking.

Replace the editing tips in the Help Box with a link to the Wiki tutorial
Resolved (since 18:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)) |
---|
The help box for this talk page contains a section about Wiki formatting. I think that it might make the help box unnecessarily long, and could be redundant to the cheatsheet or the welcome tutorial. Additionally, most users who post here have already know basic editing knowledge, so I think it could be replaced with a link to the welcome tutorial (for users who have already not read it), which contains both basic editing knowledge and talk page formatting information.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 17:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

New User Log Glitch
Resolved (since 09:37, 12 January 2023 (UTC)) |

If you check the user log, it says user Prot0555 was created today (11 January 2023), however, the date of the timestamp of the standard welcome message is yesterday, 10 Jan 2023. When you search for users created yesterday and earlier, it shows up with today's date.
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 07:16, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- I might not see the date difference, it might be because of timezone differences; the user might be created when your timezone's day was ahead of UTC when the user was created.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 07:21, 11 January 2023 (UTC)- Oh. So the log isn't in UTC?
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 10:31, 11 January 2023 (UTC)- Your user date settings might not be set to UTC, which causes the software to show localized time (as provided by you) in special pages. Check out Appearance -> Time Offset in Preferences.

Why dont we have a reply button for talk page messages like Wikipedia? I know, this is not Wikipedia but it would be helpful as you would not have to indent or outdent.
SpaghettiAG852097- talk • contribs • profile 14:28, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- There is a MediaWiki extension called DiscussionTools that includes the reply feature that Wikipedia uses. Additionally, this Wiki is being upgraded to a new MediaWiki version (1.39 from 1.35) in the next few months, which would allow the extension to be supported here.

Can you change your Wiki signature
I was just wondering if it's possible to change your wiki siggy.
Porcupine2009 (talk | contribs) 18:04, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- Short answer: Yes. There is even a simple wizard, made by bigpuppy.
- Long answer if you don't want to use the wizard:
- First, create a subpage in your userspace for the signature (for example: User:Porcupine2009/sig would be perfectly in order. Easiest way to create a page quickly: search it on the Wiki and press the red link to create it.)
- Then, fill it with whatever you want! You can use others' signatures as a layout as well - but please attribute them in some way, for example in your edit summary. And, the signature should comply with rules outlined in the S:SIG.
- After saving your changes in the page, create another subpage (example: User:Porcupine2009/minisig), and follow the instructions at S:GOODSIG.
- Finally you're good to go! Just one little thing, go to Special:Preferences -> User Profile -> Signatures and put
{{SUBST:User:Porcupine2009/minisig}}
under "New Signature" section. Also tick off "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)" box.

- This could be fixed by just turning those blocks wiki purple or some color that works in light and dark mode. Alternatively, a while outline could be added:
((::#000)::#fff)
But that's not ideal, as that's not how blocks actually look.

- What can I suggest?
You can suggest any image(s) on the English Scratch Wiki that have not been featured previously.
- How do I tell if an image has already been featured?
It will have the {{featured}} template on it, shown as a star icon in the top right corner of the image page.

No. However, please don't suggest too many...

Can an article on CoCo (by MIT PhD students, based on Scratch) exist?
Hi,
I started the article CoCo (platform). It's a collaborative platform based on Scratch 3 made by two PhD students at LLK, which has been in development for more than 2 years and is now in beta. After creating the article, han614698 pointed out on the talk page that new pages on Scratch mods are no longer allowed, which I had forgotten, and therefore I'm wondering if the article should stay.
I placed it in the Scratch Modifications category since it is technically based on Scratch 3. At the same time, it could probably be considered nearer an independent programming language derived from Scratch than a simple variant or modification, (and it is made at LLK though not by the Scratch Team), so maybe it's notable enough to be mentioned here.

A question:
Is it okay to share on the Scratch Wiki on a tutorial, my project or is it considered "Ads"?
RandomCocconut (talk | contribs) 18:44, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- It is acceptable to link to a project in a tutorial if the project is a good example of something that implements the tutorial. However, you must only link your project as an example, and the tutorial should not be an article about your project (i.e. the tutorial should be able to stand on its own if your project weren't mentioned).
jvvg (talk | contribs) 02:59, 27 February 2023 (UTC)- How to Make a Clicker Game is an example of a tutorial that has done this - it's a tutorial completely separate from the projects, but then there are some linked examples at the bottom. I've noticed I've tagged almost all of my edits as minor up until now, which probably isn't the right way to use it. Are there any rules, recommendations, etc. about how to use this checkbox?
mybearworld • Talk • Contributions • Profile 09:21, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
- Minor edits are usually small edits to pages like maybe small spelling mistakes or something.

The wiki seems quiet...
They're not many users editing much. When I joined, the recent changes would update every 30 minutes, but now we get as many edits as we used to get in an hour in a day.

Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 11:11, 5 March 2023 (UTC)- Oh, ok, that makes sense. I don't really know what the wiki was like a year ago. Also wow, Wikicode is powerful.
mybearworld • Talk • Contributions • Profile 11:20, 5 March 2023 (UTC)- Special:ActiveUsers does not update automatically, there are actually 79 active users at the time of posting this, not 112 (the value used in a recent reply to this).
- Regarding this topic in whole, might the low amount of active users be caused by relatively low promotion on the main Scratch website (the footer, Wiki Wednesday, the Community Portal in the Scratch Forums and occasional mentions in posts seem to be the main ways Scratchers are aware of the wiki)?
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 11:33, 5 March 2023 (UTC)- The Welcoming Committee requires a link to the Scratch Wiki as well.

- They should not be specifically dedicated to a very limited use (as in, used only for a certain project and has no chance to be used in anywhere else), and should be useful (i.e. has enough detail).
- Do not create tutorials only for user-generated content (see S:UGC for clarification)
- Have fun while editing, and I'd really like to see some new content floating on the wiki!

April Featured Images
Hello everyone! It's time to decide on featured images for April. If you have any suggestions, please leave them below. Please also include an explanation for why you think the image(s) that you suggest should be featured.
- What can I suggest?
You can suggest any image(s) on the English Scratch Wiki that have not been featured previously.
- How do I tell if an image has already been featured?
It will have the {{featured}} template on it, shown as a star icon in the top right corner of the image page.
- Is there a limit to the number of images I can suggest?
No. However, please don't suggest too many...
bigpuppy talk ▪︎ contribs 05:18, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Fractals are cool, so why not this one? Would be better if the wiki had an aesthetically cool, and original screenshots, because there are so many cool stuff out there... But still, I think it's worth featuring just because of the topic itself.

When are you supposed to use indentation on talk pages?
I'm a bit confused on the way that indentation is used here. Help:Welcome/4 says: A standard practice is to indent your reply one level deeper than the person you are replying to.
Which makes sense, but I'm not really seeing it used that way. As an example, look at this edit from my talk page. The indenting has been changed such that's SpaghettiAG852097-'s reply that was clearly directed at Adzboy is indented one level deeper than my reply. I've seen multiple cases of indentation being used similarly. So how is indentation actually used? If indentation is always increased for every reply, wouldn't it make more sense to stop using indentation?
mybearworld • Talk • Contributions • Profile 20:26, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, indentation is used so that each reply is on level deeper than the previous one, so I can see the confusion here. Perhaps it would be good to alter the wording of the welcome page to clarify this. Therefore, the indents on your talk page are correct.
Filmlover12 Talk Contribs Scratch 17:04, 12 March 2023 (UTC)- Yes, it's not really that specific. Most examples I've seen is just indent after every new post and I believe that is correct. Looking at the welcome page though, it is very hard to understand.
Adzboy • Talk • Contributions • Scratch Profile 19:10, 13 March 2023 (UTC)- But what's the point of indenting then?
mybearworld • Talk • Contributions • Profile 05:45, 14 March 2023 (UTC)- Indention makes it easier to see who your replying to.
SpaghettiAG852097- talk • contribs • profile 13:25, 16 March 2023 (UTC)- That would make sense if it would actually be used as the welcome page says, but every reply seems to just be indented one further, as in the edit I linked above - the indenting provides no useful information the way it is used now.

Hello,
Yesterday, at 6:30 Scratch Time to until right now I was not able to open the Scratch Wiki. I kept getting these two error messages. At 6:30 Scratch Time, I got a error saying "Sorry! The website is temporairily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later. Then, I tried again March 13 morning and got the same message and then I tried right now and 06:30 PM Scratch Time and it just started working (I just saw it working). I have attached 2 pictures. How do you view an article’s talk page?
I can’t find a basic, downright answer.
Smilebird5 (talk | contribs) 23:18, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

jvvg (talk | contribs) 00:22, 20 March 2023 (UTC)- If it has a special category (I'm not sure what the proper name for it is, I mean the "User:" or "Scratch Wiki:" prefixes), you have to add "_talk" at the end of that in the URL, for example .../Scratch_Wiki:April_Fools → .../Scratch_Wiki_talk:April_Fools. The Discussion button works there too, though.

One thing intresting.. The Scratch Wiki has 12 burecrats whereas wikipedia has 21 (factor of ~ x2). Whereas Wikipedia is much, much larger. Also @jvvg is a burecrat, but he dosent show up in Special:ListUsers. Just wondering...
Lovecodeabc Links: talk (new topic) | contribs (815) | directory 12:47, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- Many of those bureaucrats are Scratch Team members and other bureaucrats who are no longer active on the Wiki (Wikipedia removes admins and above for inactivity unlike this Wiki) and the rights that Scratch Wiki bureaucrats and Wikipedia bureaucrats have a few differences. At the moment, according to Special:ActiveUsers, there are only two active bureaucrats whilst the majority of Wikipedia bureaucrats are.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 13:31, 6 April 2023 (UTC)- While it is of course true that we are not Wikipedia, as Jammum said, most of the bureaucrats are inactive, and are either Scratch Team members or were founding members of the Wiki who have gone inactive. We ideally need at least two bureaucrats to keep things running smoothly so we can promptly respond to any urgent situations in case one is unable to access their computer for whatever reason. I also do see myself listed in Special:ListUsers under the bureaucrat group.

- It's not a bug, your timezone is just different than UTC, which is the wiki time. Also, you are using your signature incorrectly. You have to set it as your custom signature through your user preferances under the 'signature' section and tick 'treat signature as wikitext' for the timestamp to appear. Currently, there is no timestamp diplaying next to your signature.
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 15:54, 11 May 2023 (UTC)- I actually once looked into making Wiki signatures display in local time with a bit of JS magic, but unfortunately the logic for generating the timestamps is baked into the MW source code without any way to override it short of modifying the source code itself (i.e. I can't make a MW extension to do it), so unfortunately we are sticking with just the UTC timestamps.

Please stop messing with WikiMonitor
Resolved (since 21:20, 17 May 2023) |
---|
Hi everyone,
Multiple people have shut off WikiMonitor and then re-enabled it since it is not running right now. WikiMonitor is currently not active due to some equipment issues on my end, which will hopefully be resolved in the next few days. Restarting WikiMonitor will not help the situation. For future reference, if WikiMonitor ever is turned off via the emergency shut off page, it must be restarted manually, so this actually has the potential to make any problems worse. Please only turn off WikiMonitor via the emergency shutoff page if there is an actual emergency, meaning it is making a large number of incorrect edits in a short amount of time. Turning it off for any other reason, including trying to restart it because it is not operating, will only serve to make any problems worse.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 23:42, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Update: WikiMonitor is back. I have restored the Wikian protection level to the WikiMonitor emergency shut off page, so if it seriously malfunctions then you can use that to turn it off. There may be some intermittent outages over the next few days while I resolve some remaining equipment issues, but nothing long-term. To make a few things clear:
- The emergency shut off page is only to be edited when there is some sort of emergency where WikiMonitor is making a large number of incorrect edits.
- This means do not try turning it off and back on again via that page. It will not work. Once WikiMonitor is disabled via that page, I have to manually turn it back on anyway.
- This also means do not edit the page for any reason unrelated to shutting it off, such as adding a note. If you think there should be a note or the warning next should be changed, notify me on my talk page.
Thank you everyone for your patience. Please let me know if there are any issues, questions, comments, concerns, etc.

Templates?
Should we make templates for CURRENTMONTH, CURRENTDAY, etc... so that the system templates don't get transcluded?

Translate wiki logos
So, currently, each Scratch Wiki (except the Russian and this one) has a logo that is just the logo with the country/flag. The Hungarian wiki is litteraly just the logo with the flag. That is it.

Are we allowed to use Scratchblocks in signatures?
Resolved (since 13:34, 22 May 2023 (UTC)) |
---|
(I couldn't find anything about this in the archives so if this has already been answered please forgive me-)
I was coming up with ideas for a new signature, when I thought I could use Scratchblocks for all the links. I checked the Custom Signature Guidelines, and there was nothing about Scratchblocks. If it is allowed, can someone add it to the Custom Signatures page so that no one gets confused in the future?
-The_EpicXD (talk | contribs) 12:40, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think it is against the rules because of this:
“ | Signatures must occupy one line only; there should not be any formatting that cuts to other lines, such as adding text shadow." | ” |
– Custom Signature Rules |
- and this:
“ | The signature may not contain any background colors, other images, or borders | ” |

Create Scratch Wiki:Protection Levels
We really need to create a page that lists protection levels, as well as with their names the system says (like how the server says Scratch Wiki Home says it's sysop level)
2tables (talk | contribs) 19:28, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think this information should be merged into an existing help page on protecting pages, such as Help:Protected pages, because the information on that is quite short. I added the merge template to the page you created.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 06:14, 24 May 2023 (UTC) - Are there any possibilities that this idea was inspired from Wikipedia's protection policy page? If that's the case, I'd like to point out that the Scratch Wiki is nowhere near Wikipedia in terms of user groups. And hence, the
unnecessitynon-necessity of such a page. I agree with Jammum; it could easily be merged with the page, as it would never cross further from being a table-only page.

- Click on the pencil icon and you will see "move" click that and choose where to move the page to but "move" does not show if the page has been protected from moving.
Note: This is for the scratchwikiskin2 for Vector and Vector Legacy click more and then click move on Timeless click page tools and click move for MonoBook "move" is visible so click on it.

Is it possible to "wipe" my user subpages?
Resolved (since May 2023) |
---|
I'm looking back on the subpages I've created of my userpage, and I've decided that I've created too many. Is it possible for me to view all subpages of a page (so I can erase them)? As well as that, is it also possible to delete subpages of my own userpage, or can only admins do that? I'd like to "start over" without any subpages (except for my signature).
- No, only EWs and admins can do that, as nice as it would be if users could do that.
But you can view subpages with Special:PrefixIndex. (I used it for listing all my archives)

The Navigation Bar page says that the Scratch Wiki’s nav bar was changed to purple in order “to differentiate the Wiki from the main Scratch website”.
However, Scratch’s nav bar is about to turn purple. Will the Scratch Wiki nav bar have to change again, or is it too minor to really matter?
Jackson49 (talk | contribs) 02:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- It may not be a major problem, since it's quite easy to distribute Scratch from Scratch Wiki. However, it's kind of weird how the footer includes the Scratch Wiki link.

- We only rename accounts when the original Scratch account itself has its username changed (which happens in limited circumstances). We do not rename accounts when someone moves between accounts.

Add shortcut template
So I noticed that S:MAIN is a shortcut to Scratch Wiki Home. So it would be great if there was {{shortcut|S:MAIN}} on the main page. File:2tables Banner.png(talk-page | contribs) 00:49, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- In this specific case I don't think we should put the template there since that would break the flow of the page. The front page needs to be as clean as possible.

2tables | Talk | Contibutions | Scratch | Edits (968) | April 20, 2023- This is just my personal opinion (not acting in any official capacity), but I don't think it's really important for the average user to know about that compared to other pages that have shortcuts. 2tables (talk | contribs) 15:06, 5 June 2023 (UTC)- That is the standard level for protecting archives. If you want something changed we have more EWs than admins so there is a higher chance it will be dealt with quickly, while EWs still can be trusted not to edit archives unnecessarily. Protecting it to Wikian level wouldn't be particularly useful in this case, since the vast majority of active users are Wikians.

Email options grammar mistake
Resolved (since 05:37, 21 January 2023 (UTC)) |

Hello,
I noticed a mistake in the preferences in the email options section. It says "Email address is optional, but is needed for password resets, should you forget your password." The "should you forget your password" part does not really make sense. I am not able to edit it since I am a Wikian so I am telling on the community portal so someone else can edit it.
Thanks,
Edit: I meant to post this is admin/ew requests but I accidentally posted it here
SpaghettiAG852097- talk • contribs • profile 03:43, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- It is pulled through TranslateWiki strings, so the issue is rather lying on MediaWiki software rather than extensions developed by bcrats. Feel free to search and change that script on there, but I don't think that there's a grammar issue. "Should you" (also called as "Should with inversion") is a grammatically valid expression, used on formal situations, and is equivalent of conditional sentence. In other words, "should you forget your password" is another way of saying "if you forget your password".
