December 2025 Election

The ninth Scratch Wiki Experienced Wikian election was held in December 2025. Three candidates for EW were voted upon.

Candidates

A-MARIO-PLAYER (talk | contribs) — Hello, Wikians! I'm A-MARIO-PLAYER. I have been active on the wiki for over 1 year and would like to be an Experienced Wikian. I have experience in answering others' questions, welcoming users, and I check Recent Changes often. I have engaged in many community portal discussions. I believe I have experience to run in the Experienced Wikian role, and I promise that if I am elected, I will use the role and the privileges it grants to help improve this wiki to the best of my ability. minikiwigeek2 (talk | contribs) — Hiya Wikians, I'm minikiwigeek2! I’ve been a Scratcher for nine years, a Wikian for almost four, and an administrator on another independent wiki for three, and I’m a member of the Scratch Youth Advisory Board. I see myself as a good potential EW because I love documenting things I’m interested in (including Scratch), I enjoy assisting new Wikians, I’m quick to correct any mistakes I make, and I review Recent Changes nearly every day for fun, making patrolling easy for me. I have attention to detail, an important skill for reviewing account requests. Finally, where needed, I provide constructive opinions on important discussions. Thank you for your consideration! Mrsrec (talk | contribs) — Hello, I'm Mrsrec. I've been on Scratch for over 15 years. I created the notification/messages system for the Scratch Wiki, and I'm currently working on code updates for a new version of the wiki software. In the last few years, I've mainly focused on documenting upcoming updates for Scratch, and separating verifiable information from speculation. As an Experienced Wikian, I'd focus on keeping the News section of the homepage updated, reviewing Recent Changes, and helping users new to wikis (but knowledgeable about Scratch!) to join the wiki and become valuable contributors. My timezone is UTC+1, so I would also broaden Experienced Wikians' availability hours. Scratch On!

Schedule
  • Nominations opened on December 7th.
  • Nominations closed on December 15th, and the existing Experienced Wikians and Administrators ("election coordinators") decided on a list of candidates to run.
  • The chosen candidates had one week to write speeches, with the deadline of December 22nd.
  • Voting opened on December 22nd.
  • Voting closed on January 2nd, and the results were announced.
Election Rules

By nominating yourself to run in the election or voting in it, you agree to all of the following rules. (The phrase "election coordinator" refers to the existing Experienced Wikians and Administrators).

  • The only advertising candidates may do is the speech on the candidates page
    • The speech is limited to 108 words and may only contain text (no images, links, formatted text, etc.)
    • The speech may not reference other candidates in any way - they are designed for the candidates to explain why they should be EWs, not why others shouldn't be.
    • This means that advertising on the Community Portal, userpages, the Scratch website, etc. is not allowed.
  • Any person whose account was at least 30 days old and had 50 mainspace edits before the election was announced (December 4), and has a good track record (has not recently been blocked, engaged in vandalism, etc.) may nominate themself.
    • The election coordinators may choose a subset of the nominees to run in the election
  • Any Wiki contributor whose Wiki account was created before the election was announced may vote in the election
  • No user may vote in the place of another user (i.e. everyone must be logged in as the user they are voting for).
  • Only the election coordinators may play any sort of official role in the election. This includes...
    • Saying anything about anyone's votes (if someone ineligible votes or otherwise violates these rules, do not deal with it yourself - get an election coordinator)
    • Telling candidates that they have to change something because it breaks the rules (e.g. speech guidelines, forbidden advertising, etc.)
  • Please remember: If in doubt, ask before doing it.
Votes

Voting is closed. Voting used the Borda count system, where voters ranked all candidates in order of preference, with the top two candidates being elected.
