A situation of waffle hoarding

The Sixty-Second Rule is a rule allowing Scratchers to eat the _waffle_[1] sign if it was posted less than 60 seconds ago. It is currently very popular among the Scratch website, as scratchers use it to combat hunger.

Reasoning

A user takes his jump for a fresh, new _waffle_ icon[1]

Many Scratchers enter Scratch hungry, tired, and depressed from the long day of not Scratching. The Scratch Team has hoped to combat this by adding in the sixty-second rule, which will help decrease deaths by starvation by 0.0001%.

New Scratchers

Thanks to New Scratchers having the 120-second rule, many Scratchers have created waves of new accounts simply to hoard waffles. One such instance is the new Scratcher WaffleCollector who has eaten nearly infinity[1] since the account was created. In a previous interview, he stated that he plans never to eat a single one. In the end, he ended facing the banhammer for wasting the Scratch Team's waffles.

The Waffle[2] Song

This is the national anthem for all waffle eaters:[3]

Do you like waffles?[1]
Yeah, we like waffles!
Do you like pancakes?
Yeah, we like pancakes!
Do you like French toast?
Yeah, we like French toast!
Doo doo doo doo
Can't wait to get my mouth full!
WAFFLES!
WAFFLES!
WAFFLES!
WAF-
Doo doo doo doo
Can't wait to get my mouth full!
Do you like waffles?
Yeah, we like waffles!
Do you like pancakes?
Yeah, we like pancakes!
Do you like French toast?
Yeah, we like French toast!
Doo doo doo doo
Can't wait to get my mouth full!

Problems

Here's a list of known problems with the sixty-second rule:

  • There is only one flavor: Waffle Plain
  • People spam comments to get more waffles[4]
  • There are so many waffles that they rot. The whole website stinks of it.[5][6]
  • Some waffles go out of date very quickly
  • Very few know how waffles are created
  • The ST ran out of syrup 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 years ago
  • The Waffle song became a bit annoying phenomenon for most users. But hey, at least it is not annoying unlike the Adolescent Giants Run! version.[7][8]

Consequences for breaking the rule

If a user is caught breaking the 60 second rule and eating waffles that were posted more than 60 seconds ago, then the user must pay the Scratch Team for the price for the waffle in energy units, which is usually around $999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 per waffle. There have been complaints that users forget about this rule and end up eating a large amount of waffles and owing amounts as high as the price of Scratch. [citation needed] Wow.
