Scratch Membership is a subscription service that provides perks in exchange for a yearly or one-time donation to the Scratch Foundation. Scratch Membership is currently offered as a lifetime membership for donating $150, and an annual plan for donating $35 a year.[1]
A Scratch Membership grants users access to various perks:[1]
Current
Story Xperiential
Scratch Members can get access to Story Xperiential Preview for free, including a year of access to Story Xperiential for $25, an 83% discount. However, non-Scratch Members can get access to the full program for $113 rather than $150.
Exclusive sprites
Scratch Members get access to exclusive sprites for use in their projects.
Although the sprites cannot be selected in the Sprite Library by Non-Scratch Members, they can be backpacked and used by anyone.
Some Scratch Members have stated that these exclusive sprites include new original Scratch characters known as Zepto and Milli, and Yooka Laylee sprites from a partnership with Playtonic.

Controversy
The recent implementation of Scratch Membership and its perks has caused controversy.[4] Many Scratchers found the addition of cat blocks to the editor for members, despite such a feature previously being rejected due to lack of resources, as disproportionate use of developer time.[5][better source needed] The public indicators of membership (a "cat ears" frame on profile pictures and a "Member" badge that cannot be opted out of) potentially causing a separation between "tiers" of community members. A suggestion for keeping membership private currently has over 350 replies to it.[6]
