Scratch Classmate is a prototype version of Scratch 1.2. It was created around 2008, and was the result of an (ultimately canceled) collaboration between Scratch and Microsoft.[1] It features a more compact interface, flag and stop buttons similar to the ones used in the Experimental Viewer and 2.0 pre-alphas, and a few modifications to existing blocks.
Blocks
Scratch Classmate is based off of Scratch 1.2, and as a result it contains every block from that version. This means that Scratch Classmate does not include the rest for () beats block introduced in Scratch 1.2.1, and contains the same glitches as Scratch 1.2.
A new "Triggers" category was introduced in this version, which would later become the Events category in Scratch 2.0. It features 6 light-yellow blocks, all of which were moved from the Control Category. Additionally, the turn cw () degrees and turn ccw () degrees blocks were renamed to turn @turnRight ():: motion and turn @turnLeft ()::motion respectively.
The Stop All block also has a stop sign icon that looks different from the one seen in Scratch 1.2.
The When Green Flag Clicked block's green flag has a lighter colour than the stage's green flag.
UI
The UI is entirely remapped, such as the categories being accessed by clicking on an icon from the category.
Tools
Unlike 1.4 and 2.0 having a toolbar, Scratch Classmate doesn't have a toolbar. The only tool is the delete icon, which can be used by clicking on the bin and clicking on the wanted sprite to be deleted.
