The Next-Generation Platform (commonly abbreviated as the NGP) is a future update of the Scratch Website, it is planned to be released by the end of 2026.[1] The Next-Generation Platform will be designed to serve as a transition in preparation for the later release of Scratch 4.0[1], by strengthening its foundation and adding some new features. It was originally planned to release by the summer of 2026 but has been moved to near the end of 2026.[1][2]

Features
The features announced for the Next-Generation platform include:[1]
- Refreshed UI designs
- Google sign-on support
- Improved studio experience
- New functions on the homepage and profile pages
- Customizable notifications
- New project tagging system
- Upgraded Explore page
The Next-Generation Platform will also include many non-visible changes, such as, but not limited to, server migration and back-end improvements.[1] NGP is also said to remove Student and Teacher Accounts and it is suggested to educators that they migrate to the "Raspberry Pi Foundation's Blocks Editor" which is said to launch in fall of 2026.[3]
Domain Change
The Next-Generation Platform will be available at scratch.org, rather than the current scratch.mit.edu domain, with the latter domain redirecting after the change (currently, scratch.org redirects to scratch.mit.edu),[4] as Scratch has not been part of MIT since 2020 and can't keep the scratch.mit.edu domain forever. The Scratch Team is unsure how long scratch.mit.edu will redirect to scratch.org before returning a 404 error of some sort.[5]
