An account rank determines a user's privileges on the Scratch Website and Forums.

Ranks

  • New Scratcher — The rank that is given immediately after a user joins Scratch. They have some restrictions, such as having to wait longer between comments and the 120-Second Rule on the Discussion Forums to prevent spam. Additionally, they are not able to use Cloud Variables or create studios.
  • Scratcher — The rank given to users who have been sufficiently active on the Scratch Website and Discussion Forums. They have more privileges than New Scratchers, such as the ability to use Cloud Variables and create studios. They are restricted with the Sixty-Second Rule on the Discussion Forums.
  • Teacher — The rank given to users who have successfully requested a Teacher Account. These users have additional privileges over students in their classes, such as the ability to delete their students' comments and receive notifications when their students do certain things such as sharing a project or receiving an alert.
  • Community Moderator — An obsolete rank that were given to trusted users who moderated the Discussion Forums. They looked at reports and help out when people need assistance. Additionally, they could access 2 private forums and were not restricted by the Sixty-Second Rule. After the program ended, users with this rank was given the Scratcher rank.
    • Retired Community Moderator — The rank given to users who were once a Community Moderator. After the program ended, users with this rank were given the Scratcher rank.
  • Scratch Team — The rank given to people who works for Scratch; it comes with administrator privileges and an asterisk next to their username on their profile. Only current Scratch Team members have this rank; retired Scratch Team members have the Scratcher rank.
