Before changing the studio host, there must be another manager in the studio who is not a New Scratcher.

A studio host can follow these steps to transfer their ownership:

  1. Click the three dots icon next to your username.
  2. Select the "change studio hosts" dropdown.
  3. Select an existing manager of the studio to transfer the ownership to them.
  4. Confirm this action by entering the current host's password, since this is not undoable.

After transferring, the original studio host will become a manager and the new studio host will be notified in messages.

Note Caution: After changing studio hosts, you cannot reverse this action.

Errors

Transfer Limit

A studio's host can only be changed once per day, meaning that if someone else transferred the ownership to another Scratcher, the other Scratcher cannot transfer the host status until the next day. If a user tries to make the second studio transfer action during the day, they will get an error message.

Transferring Ownership to a New Scratcher

Due to the fact that New Scratchers cannot create studios after the studio update, New Scratchers cannot become studio hosts too. If a user tries to transfer the studio host to a New Scratcher, an error message will appear. This feature is added to make sure studio owners are familiar with the Community Guidelines and have spent some time in the Scratch community.[1]
