Horizontal blocks are blocks that stack from left to right and have icons instead of text. They are used in ScratchJr. The Scratch Blocks library was originally designed to support horizontal blocks,[1] but they have since been removed.
Development
Horizontal blocks first made an appearance in the ScratchJr app. They were found to be easier to understand for beginners and work better with the limited screen size mobile devices have.[2]
When the Scratch Blocks library was being developed, the Scratch Team experimented with a horizontal blocks mode.[3] It was removed in Scratch Blocks 2.0.
