Scratch 4.0 is the tentative name[1] of an upcoming update to Scratch with no set release date. It is planned to include a "re-imagined online community and creative AI". Development on Scratch 4.0 was one of three "strategic priorities" for the Scratch Team in 2025.[2]
Possible New Features

- AI features (exactly what is unknown)
- Improved studio experience
- Google sign-on support
- Refreshed designs and new functions on the homepage and profile pages
- Customizable notifications
- New project tagging system

The Next-Generation Platform
- Main article: Next-Generation Platform
The Next-Generation Platform (NGP) is the bridge between Scratch 3.0 and Scratch 4.0. The Scratch Team said that they needed to create a strong foundation to build it on. Changes in the NGP include new designs on some pages and backend improvements.
The Scratch Team also said that it is going to take some time to move Scratchers out of their current platform and into this new space[3].They also said to expect a few days of downtime this summer, and projects, comments, studios, and profiles will not go anywhere[4].
