If a comment is found which sounds rude/mean/unfriendly or seems like spam, click on the 'Report' link to the top right of every comment that breaks the Community Guidelines. This will report the comment to the Scratch Team so they can review it. If the comments continue, and nothing changes, one can use the "contact us" link found at the bottom of every page. Never make a forum post, project, studio, or comment to say that someone made a mean comment to the user.

On Profiles, Projects, and Studios

An example of a comment that should be reported.

If a user makes a comment that can be found offensive, it can be reported as inappropriate so that the Scratch Team will review it. The report button can be found when the mouse hovers over the comment in the top right. If a comment is reported on one of someone's own projects, then it will be immediately deleted in addition to being reviewed by the Scratch Team. If the comments are on a lot of the same user's projects, one can also choose to contact Scratch directly with the Contact Us button at the bottom of every page. However, make sure to not use the report button on the offending user's profile, as this is strictly for reporting inappropriate or mean content on the user/user profile itself.

Try to ignore the comment and not respond to it, as it would only attract more attention to the unfriendly comment. Responding may also cause spam and flame wars. Do not post in the Scratch Forums about it; it does not help to get the comment removed faster and, again, only attracts more attention. Instead of posting a topic about it, report it to the Scratch Team.

In the Forums

The Report button in the forums can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of every post, next to the quote button.

If an offensive post is found in the forums, just click the "Report" link in the bottom-right hand corner and give a small explanation of why it is unfriendly. The post will be passed on to the Scratch Team, so they can review it and take action. Try not to respond to it.

What should someone do if they keep getting unfriendly comments?

When a problem can not be resolved by just reporting one comment, for example when a certain user keeps posting mean comments, use the "Contact Us" link on the bottom of every page to contact the Scratch Team. They will look into what's happening, and try to resolve the matter with the user personally.

Ignore List

Archive.png This article or section documents something not included in the current version of Scratch (3.0). It is only useful from a historical perspective.
Main article: Ignore List

Prior to Scratch 2.0, there was a feature called the Ignore List. Comments or projects belonging to users on the list could not be seen by the list's owner. However, this was removed as it would only bury problems (in some cases making them worse), instead of solving them.
