uploads.scratch.mit.edu is a Scratch Website subdomain that used to serve as the primary website for hosting images on the Scratch website. It is known for providing access to some parts of the website as if it were the normal domain.

Other Uses

uploads.scratch.mit.edu has been notable for being an alternate server of Scratch,[1] meaning that users can access certain pages on it, send requests to the main Scratch website, and interact with Scratch features. People have used this to their advantage to access parts of Scratch when the main website is down.[2]

Accessible Pages

Not all pages on Scratch can be viewed on uploads.scratch.mit.edu, and users who try to view them get an error message.[3] The only pages accessible on uploads.scratch.mit.edu are pages that use the old, Scratch 2.0-style header, which are not yet migrated to scratch-www; and pages that have been migrated, but not yet had their old code removed. Pages using the Scratch 3.0-style header that were not migrated from an existing 2.0 page can no longer be accessed on the uploads subdomain.[4] Exceptions include the following pages:

  • About Scratch
  • Community Guidelines
  • DMCA
  • Download
  • For Educators
  • For Parents
  • Jobs
  • Our Team
  • Privacy Policy
  • Statistics
  • Terms of Use

Different favicon

uploads.scratch.mit.edu has also a different favicon. It is the Scratch 1.0 website's favicon.
