Welcome to my talk page! This is a place where you can send messages to @Super_Scratch_Bros20. You can send me just about anything, as long as it follows the rules. You can even send me anything unrelated to the wiki, but I will not answer questions I deem too personal. For instance, a discussion on movies I like is fine by me. However, I’m not giving out information such as my birthday.

I also accept Discussion Invitations if you wish to do so. I’ll respond as soon as I’m available, and with constructive input. I may not participate in a discussion if I don’t understand a lot of words being thrown around, or if it’s too controversial for me, or if I don’t have much to add, etc. I will tell you why I will not participate in the discussion if I choose not participate.

I'm not able to access any devices except for my school iPad that blocks most sites, including compression sites. I'm sorry about this inconvenience. (I am well aware that I am talking to a bot. I just don't want it to look like I'm purposelg posting a lot of images without compressing them.)

Essays

Hi, I came across your "Thoughts on Suggestions" essay and really liked it. I agree with all the points on there and appreciate the thought you put into that. A few fun historical facts that reminded me of though are that 1. the "support"/"no support" thing (with no further explanation) actually was the norm in the 1.x days and early 2.0 days and 2. in the old days, April Fools didn't really involve people posting joke topics, just some easter eggs around the website.

In general I like the essay format on the Wiki and am glad to see it catching on. It lends itself to covering more material than a forum post or project and more completely covering a given topic. My essays are basically all related to questions/complaints I see come up a lot on Scratch and the Wiki to which I feel a short form answer in a forum post or talk page message isn't sufficient to cover it.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 01:03, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

I agree. I love the idea. I used to make similar essays on my alt, @Gliffe, but I'm starting to lean more toward the Wiki formatting. I think there are just some assets to the Wiki that aren't possible (at least, to the same effect) much of anywhere else, namely the way that you can divide different sections.
In forum posts, you can't make guides, so any forum post covering a topic you want to address must be related to the topic (and at that point, you're not directly addressing the user, just using their topic as an excuse to say what you want). And in projects, you have to put in extra work to advance slides, or make it look more polished -- both of which are inconvenient when you're trying to get a simple point across. Not to mention, I use the internet on a mobile device.
Basically I want to thank you for giving me this idea in the first place. Maybe I should have been more vocal about this. I really like the idea, and it inspired me to do what I did.

Is one of the links in your Franchise Verboten essay incorrect?

In that essay, you stated you linked to a suggestion on restricting DDLC content, although it links to a Korean topic with only two posts by one user. Could you correct it?

That's interesting. Yeah, I tried to copy out the link by hand, so that probably explains it. I will fix it very soon. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Your Papercut Misconception essay

Hi, Ved here. I've read your Papercut Misconception essay, and I agree with most of your views. I've got about 7 papercuts in my life, and I've only bled by one papercut. But, I haven't really seen any people 'making a fountain of blood erupting from a papercut' in my scratch history. Most of the blood in projects I've seen are

  • A inappropriate blood use with the character in a pool of blood [driven by a gun, sword, etc] driven] P.S. I reported it and it got taken down
  • A blood particle effect [no visual wounds/blood, just red dots coming from the character]
  • Representation of the human circulatory system.

To your solution, I mostly agree, but I would tell someone a small, thin red line or red dots is okay if it's not on the face [blood on faces tends to give people nightmares] What you're saying in the article is actually better, but sometimes a sign of injury is needed in some projects to represent that the character has gotten hurt [I would give a ref, but the scratcher in question left scratch and deleted all projects], because putting them unconcious is more scary for some people.

Btw, I might start doing essays here someday. They'll probably be inspired by yours.

Thanks for reaching out to me.
To answer your first point, I have seen projects where users bleed excessively from papercuts. I have specific examples in mind, but I can't link them on the wiki because they're inappropriate. Even though this is a rare issue, it still disgusted me -- and probably several others too -- so I think this point's existence is valid.
And hey, I'll consider adding that bit in to the solution. I just feel a bit uncomfortable about adding it because this is the first I'm hearing of this. I would like to hear a Scratch Team reaponse first.
And thank you! I'd be looking forward to reading your essays.
