I read  [[User:Kenny2scratch]]  and was quite impressed because you are international, multilingual, very involved in template programming and wiki-stuff.

We urgently need more people to get involved in the international Scratch Wikis and I got the feeling, that you could be one of the "chosen ones" who could do it. [[user:ErnieParke]] does already a very good job there, but we are still not enough people to do all the necessary work there to spread the Scratch-Wiki-Idea all over the world in all languages. After we knew Ernie better by working together and having voice-talk-sessions, we finally grant him FTP-Administration-Rights for all our international MediaWiki-Servers (see: https://test.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Test-Scratch-Wiki:Watch ). Perhaps that could also be interesting for you? Do you have Media-Wiki-Admin-Knowledge? If you are interested, it would be a long way of working together in an international community and gaining trust and knowhow until reaching that target, but surely it would be worth that effort. I've be waiting very long for somebody who could enlarge the FAQ cited above...could be a good job to start...or do you have better ideas, where your abilities could help the international Scratch Wikis? Fun fact: I was actually thinking, for a long time, of starting up a Chinese interwiki, but I could never find enough people to help :(

So, things that I think I could help with:
*Being an admin/bureaucrat - I know very well how the permissions work thanks to setting up [[User:Kenny2scratch/Status/School Wiki|my school wiki]].
*Setting up MediaWiki when new wikis become "strong" - I've done this five times for [http://hkugawiki.ddns.net/en/Home my school wiki] (twice for english/chinese and once for media pools)
*Communicating with people in places all over the world - though I don't know every language, I can still certainly talk to people and help them :)
*Working out everything related to templates - I am extremely experienced with that

I can already see that there's something I can improve: the FAQ:
*I see that there isn't really a good explanation of the account request system - I understand it, so I can help explain it.
*Hmm... I also see that the Interwiki for test-scratch-wiki is not configured correctly... it goes to http://dach.scratch-wiki.info instead of http://scratch-dach.info
*And then there's "what kind of pages can I create?" - that needs more info too.

So I see that there is much that I can help with. I would very much like to "get involved" :) with the international Scratch-Wikis.

By the way, if I'm going to do this, I think I'll need to be able to talk to you more quickly than talk pages - any way I can talk to you more directly?

== International Scratch Wikis ==

There is much to do at the international Scratch Wikis. Do you want me to give you admin account at all wikis? [https://test.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Test-Scratch-Wiki:Watch#Authors_wih_multiple_Scratch-Wiki-Accounts] Worse is, that we have some wikis with nearly no activities, but with a lot of account applications that nobody cares for until now.  Perhaps also the accounting system does not work properly at all wikis right now...[[user:ErnieParke]] built a very good one at the German Scratch-Wiki, where we get Scratch-Account-Verification + eMail-Adress + at least 25 words of motivation (find a german tutorial how to apply here: [[:de:Scratch-Wiki:Mitmachen!]]), but I think it's not implemented at all wikis until now. Did you have a look at [[S:CP#Looking at Statistics]]? With the German Scratch wiki we made good experiences with active user acquisition, for example, see [[:de:Scratch-Wiki:WeWantYou/papageigames]]. Perhaps we can also re-populate the existing international Scratch Wikis by that? We also should have a "featured article" at every wikis frontpage that is the same than the Wiki-Wednesday-Article of that wiki and a collection of all featured article that are interwiki-linked. I try to start that here: [[:de:Vorlage:Vorgestellter_Artikel]]. What do you think? Your Ideas and activities? :I think that the accounts system can be easily copied between wikis (though copying would need server access), so that shouldn't be ''too'' much of a problem.
:As for active users, that's a problem on every Scratch Wiki, including this one. We only have {{NUMBEROFACTIVEUSERS}} users who have done ''anything'' in the last 30 days.
:For active account requests, it depends much on how strict the requirements are to get in. On the English wiki, we have [[S:JOIN|rather strict requirements]], because there are many people who want to join but only a few that can actually edit well. On the Test wiki, though, we seem to have... [https://test.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Scratch_Wiki:Become_a_contributor no requirements]? I think there needs to be a set thing for people to join, so that they know what they need to know to be able to join.
:For many new users joining, that also depends on how strict the requirements are, but also on how good the people themselves are. According to the admins on the English wiki (over Discord), there are quite a lot of requests per day but only about 5 or 6 get accepted per week.
:All of these problems, I think, arise from two main problems:
#The Wiki is not advertised enough. Not many people know it exists; those who know that it exists simply use it for information; most of those who actually apply don't go through; those who go through mostly go inactive after a small time. I think people should know 1. the benefits of being a wiki editor and 2. ''what they need to know to be able to join''.
#People view Wiki accounts as a status symbol. This is the main reason new users go inactive quickly - they get an account, boast about it, but don't actually edit much besides what they said they would do. After the fifteen minutes of fame die down, they quickly forget about the wiki completely.
:There are people who do well, and continue editing well (basically everyone you see in [[Special:RecentChanges]]), but the number of those people is even fewer, maybe around 10-20 people.
:So, I think making me admin at all interwikis will certainly give you another person who can process account requests, but unless the accounts system is properly set up and there are concrete requirements for joining, I don't know that I can be much help.
:Setting up the accounts system is no problem - I've done that about 3 times now. However, unless there are actual requirements for joining, I don't know if I can process requests properly.
:As for the "featured article", yes! That totally needs to be added! I can easily set that up (although for the featured article to be related to Wiki Wednesday, I think I might need access to that Google Form...?) since all that needs to be done is the [[Article of the Month]] redirect and the "Featured Article" section on the homepage. I think I might want to set up [[Scratch Wiki:Wiki Wednesday Suggestions]] on all the wikis, too (even the ones that already have the featured article system) since it's a lot more efficient than admins posting on the CP every time.
:I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to add content to the wikis, since I'm not even a fluent speaker of any of those languages, and Google Translate is no substitute for real language. However, I believe I can help with technical issues, e.g. deleting pages, confirming accounts, etc.

:So to sum up my thinking aloud:
*I think before I start confirming accounts anywhere else, we should figure out some concrete request requirements - maybe not so strict as the requirements for the English wiki, but still reasonable.
*If I were to become admin on the other language wikis, I think what I could mainly help with includes:
**Setting up a better Wiki Wednesday/featured article system
**Doing regular admin tasks, e.g. deleting/protecting pages, rollbacking/patrolling changes, editing the interface, etc
*I don't think I can help with content, since I am not a native speaker of any of those languages.
*I'm confident that I can help set up ConfirmAccounts, but that would require server access. Simply copying the system from the German wiki should be fine, though.
:I'm willing to become admin on the interwikis while we figure out the request guidelines (I think we should do that by email), nonetheless.
