Hello! I don't know if you heard about this yet, but geometric_ghast (aka Ihatr on Scratch) and I (4096bits) would like to collaborate with you to make a YouTube video about the Scratch Wiki and other's experiences. If you would like to participate, please reply to this message. Thank you! <br>

:::Rip, no worries. I'd prefer a sort of live interview format just because it lets you ask follow-up questions and I like talking about myself... so if you have a different date/time you're available, and if you don't mind, I'd rather move to that. If you forsee yourself having other commitments for a longer while then I don't mind recording the answers, though. Hello Kenny2scratch,

== Ugh, second message! ==

I was looking at your user page, and I thought it looked very professional. I was wondering if you could give me any tips or suggestions about how to organize my user page, or if you could let me know another place where I can find that information. I'm also curious about how to sign my username. I tried using the "Sign your username" wiki markup code, but I couldn't figure out how to use it.

I'm editing this message to ask another question. I'm really new to the Scratch Wiki (As you probably know) and I saw that there was a bullet point on your talk page that said: "For reference, revision 231783 was done by AdeptMind on 17/07/2019" I'm worried I accidentally edited your page. If you could let me know how this works, and if I'm doing it right, that would be great! Thanks, and sorry for all of the questions!

== A page in your userspace ==
:Hi! Did you read the [[S:WELCOME|Welcome tutorial]]? One of the things it covers is how to use talk pages properly. In advance, though, you sign your name with four tildas (four of these: ~) at the end of the last line of your message.

:I built up my userpage over months and eventually years. Under the surface, it's actually a hideous mess of styling and failed experiments (though I have attempted to refactor it before). I encourage you to learn some stuff about HTML, then try to recreate (or approximate, I wouldn't recommend going for a complete or accurate reformation) my userpage ''without'' looking at the source code; once you have done that, you can start thinking about how you want your page to look at a higher level without having to worry about the execution of the concept. TL, DR: Learn about HTML and figure things out - it's your page and I can't tell you how to make it.

:The "revision NUM was done by NAME on DD/MM/YYYY" is just something I have in there for fun - it uses the [[Help:Magic words|magic words]] REVISIONID, REVISIONUSER, REVISIONDAY, REVISIONMONTH, and REVISIONYEAR, all of which you can look up in the linked page. Also, talk pages are meant to be edited by others - it is only userpages where you are not allowed to edit others'.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 22:40, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for all the help! I don't currently have time to learn HTML, but I'm going to be taking a programming class in school next year, so hopefully that will cover HTML, or at least help me learn fundamental skills that will help with HTML.

[[User:Kenny2scratch/Project Guides/Python Slash Commands API Reference|This page]] was created by you in your userspace. However, it mentions a Python library that involves Discord. I do not know if the page would count against Scratch rules (this wiki follows them as well) and would have to be deleted, but I think mentioning Discord is not allowed on Scratch (at least on the non-forum parts). {{User:Jammum/Signature}} 15:14, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
 +
:"it mentions a Python library" dude the whole page is ''the'' documentation for the library.
 +
:* We have a literal [[S:DISCORD]] page
 +
:* The level of CG scrutiny applied here is about equivalent to the forums, since the two of us go hand in hand
 +
:* I suspect the removals of even bare mentions of it are done only be a few overzealous ST members that think names have more power than they do
 +
:* I deliberately didn't put the actual name of the library in the title
 +
:I considered all this before creating it. Thank you very much for bringing it up when I specifically didn't want to draw attention to it. Goodbye.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 15:23, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

==Error and also question==

Ok so, I am trying to make it so that [[User:XII_RH1N0]] can edit my userpage, when I tried to add t|open userpage with 2 {'s on each end of the t|open userpage and hit "save" on my page, it told me I was trying to use bad words and I don't know why. I have it sceenshotted just in case. I am just confused. Also, I've tried a couple times and I still don't understand how to have it so people can edit my userpage. Is there anyway U could help? <scratchsig>StormMaker2395</scratchsig> 04:20, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
 +
:You're not using the template right anyway. You need to put <code><nowiki>{{open userpage}}</nowiki></code>, not <code><nowiki>{{t|open userpage}}</nowiki></code>, on the userpage you want to open. I know why the filter triggered, but I think it's moot as long as you use the template properly.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 07:32, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Oh, I thought signing your username literally meant ''signing'' it XD. I was confused about if it would ask me to use my mouse to sign my name for each message, or if there was a place I could create a pre-made signature for each message, but now I know that's not what it means. Thanks!

Hi! I'm making a project all about the wiki (How to use, how to edit, etc.)! Would you like to help out in a collaboration? I also want to invite other editors, but I'm not sure. Perhaps we can ask in the studio? I don't think I'm going for an animation, btw. More like a guide I guess... If you're too busy, it’s okay, just asking! Also, I think it would be nice to add our own thoughts. :)<scratchsig>MitFieldatdawn</scratchsig> 05:35, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
: Hi! I don't want to interrupt but when posting we always indent one more than the other person (using <code>:</code>), and use {{t|outdent}} after 6 or 7 indents!

::I see, but that is a page. I'm trying to make a project. Also, it's okay if you don't want to. You don't have to be part of the callob, but can please, at least give be some tips on it. Also, it don't have to be just for contributors. <scratchsig>MitFieldatdawn</scratchsig> 00:41, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
 +
:::Ah, you mean a Scratch project. I thought you meant it in the more general sense ("something to be worked on"). I'd still recommend looking at the Welcome tutorial for source material, as well as potentially the [[S:CHEATSHEET|cheatsheet]], at least for the part that ''is'' aimed at contributors. For the part aimed at Scratchers, it's admin policy not to provide any help with the account request process, so you'll have to consult others who are not admins if you want material related to that. Feel free to ask me more specific questions about anything else.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 11:41, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

== 3.0 variable image ==

So, about the grammar on the "need edited/ing", I've had issues with this before, when my friend told me it was wrong. I guess where I'm from the the "to be" is implied, e.g. "the dog needs fed" really means "the dog needs to be fed". My friend said it wasn't implied (I said something like "need punished"), so I was like "Haven't your parents ever said "the dog needs fed?" And some of my friends agreed with me, and she disagreed. I guess when it comes to talking, in casual conversation, it's implied to most people, but on the Wiki I should be more careful :P Plus, I guess you interpreted it as what I meant was "ing", but I saw that and was like "What? That isn't what I meant." If I had realized that I would have changed it to "need to be repositioned".
+
Just wondering the image you gave for the slider needs to be updated. It is in the variable article too. It is no longer a pentagon slider but instead a round circle.

:Wait so what are you talking about?

:Regardless, in standard English grammar, the only correct forms are "the dog needs ''to be fed''" and "the dog needs ''feeding''". "The dog needs ''fed''" is simply invalid.

:But I need to know what the context is.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 16:42, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

::Haha sorry, I meant the latest revision of [[Default Value|this]]

::I didn't mean you were wrong to correct me, I knew that it was wrong once I saw your edit. I just felt like saying something about it since I've had an issue with it in the past. I know that it's wrong, it's just that I would have corrected it ''differently'', and I thought it was kind of funny.

::I guess I just have a strange sense of humor.{{User:EIephant Lover/Signature}} 18:14, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

:::Ahh, it is all so clear now.

:::Interesting. I actually considered both corrections, but I went with the ed->ing change because a) I thought that that was what you meant to say and b) ed->ing made for a shorter sentence than ed->to be ed.

Hey, could you please look at [https://en.scratch-wiki.info/w/index.php?title=Special:ConfirmAccounts/authors&acrid=5547&wpShowRejects=1 this request]? I was ''really, really, really, really'' hard-pressed on this one, and I feel bad rejecting it as they had all the right parts, but were not specific enough and did not use complete sentences. Would you mind looking at it, and if you think differently than I do, possibly change it (as I trust your opinion more than mine)? Again, it was really hard for me to make this decision. :Heh, I saw that one and left it for later because it was hard for me as well. It's easier to justify a decision in retrospect than it is before making it, so thank you for making that decision :)

:I think that was the right thing to do because:

:# It's not clear enough what each flaw is correcting (e.g. "the", but what was the original spelling?)

:# (Incorrectly) Linking to the [[Vector Graphics]] page doesn't tell us the intent - did they mean to add some info from that page? or add a link to that page? or...?

:And in general as you said it wasn't specific enough and didn't use complete sentences.

:It seems you've figured out how to revert it. However, assuming you're talking about [[:File:Avery Alicorn's PFP.png]], I don't see why - I can't detect any visual difference in quality (no change in resolution, no visible blurring/pixelation). Unless you can point out a specific visible difference, I'm going to ask you to revert it back to the compressed version - especially if this is going to be used in a custom signature or the like, minimizing the filesize minimizes page load times.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 03:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

<div style= " class="plainlinks" title="Hello world">'''ABC 123'''</div>
 +
(hover over the text with your mouse to see it)<br/>
 +
You can also put links into your text:
 +
Typing this:<br/>
 +
<code><nowiki><div style= " class="plainlinks" title="Hello world">[[User:1a3c5e7g9i/Squidward's Game|Squidward's Game]]</div></nowiki></code><br/>
 +
Outputs the following:
 +
<div style= " class="plainlinks" title="Hello world">[[User:1a3c5e7g9i/Squidward's Game|Squidward's Game]]</div>
 +
(hover '''NEXT TO''' the text with your mouse to see it)<br/>
 +
You can also put images (and templates!) in your text:<br/>
 +
Typing this:<br/>
 +
<code><nowiki><div style= " class="plainlinks" title="Hello world">{{E|meow}}</div></nowiki></code><br/>
 +
Outputs the following:
 +
<div style= " class="plainlinks" title="Hello world">{{E|meow}}</div>
 +
(hover over the image with your mouse to see it)<br/>
 +
You can put anything you can put in a divider tag into your text that will generate the "title" you set when hovered over. The "title" can only be plain text, but emojis are also allowed.
 +
Here's an example of text with an emoji in its "title":<br/>
 +
<div style= " class="plainlinks" title="😎">This text is cool</div><br/>
 +
:{{collapse bottom}}
 +
<div style="vertical-align:center;font-family:Courier New, monospace" class="plainlinks" title="Hi, feel free to read here or ask on my talk page! Yes, I'm talking through your mouse. A lot of people do that.">
 +
:I hope this helped!
 +
<br>

You changed my signature background. I could read it. {{User:Scratch-Coding/Signature}} 16:23, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

::Your signature was unreadable and therefore was not an acceptable signature. I fixed it for you. Nonintrusive backgrounds are fine - go ahead. (Also, I just fixed it again - we require signatures to have a line break at the start. Yours didn't have one. See [[S:GOODSIG]].){{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 07:50, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello there! I have seen a lot of people on the Scratch Wiki with custom signuatures and was hoping you could tell me how to do one myself! Do I need a javascript file? or do I need [[User:TheAwesome98/signature|this page here]]? Thanks! <scratchsig>TheAwesome98</scratchsig> 13:15, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi! I have to say that your userpage was very impressive. When I first loaded the webpage I was wondering if this was still part of the Wiki :P Could I ask how you managed to create the sidebars at the bottom left and right corners of my screen? Thanks!<scratchsig>MasterofTheBrick</scratchsig> 07:42, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
:[[S:GOODSIG]] documents the method you should use for making a custom signature - but keep in mind if you think it's too complicated the default scratchsig is a good fallback :){{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 07:28, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

:You can look at the source code for each of them (edit, but do not save, [[User:Kenny2scratch/Sidebar|left]] and [[User:Kenny2scratch/Sidebox|right]]) to attempt to read my horrible markup, but the general idea is have a element like so:
 +
:<pre><div style="position: fixed; bottom: 0; left: 0;">...content...</div></pre>
 +
:That places the "...content..." 0 pixels away from the bottom and left of the screen, no matter where it's scrolled to. The rest of it is just styling - you can look up tutorials on HTML and CSS to figure it out.{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}} 09:30, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
