Who I am

Hello! I'm jvvg. I'm currently a college student at Case Western Reserve University, studying Computer Science.

What I do on the Wiki

My main job on the Wiki is software engineer. That means that I...

  • Make sure that the MediaWiki software is running smoothly
  • Help install and maintain any extensions we use, including the account request system that I partially developed
  • Operate WikiMonitor

I also am a bureaucrat, so that means I...

  • First and foremost, be a Wiki community member and help to improve the Wiki articles
  • Handle account requests
  • Perform administrative actions that may need to be done

What I do off the Wiki

Since I'm a college student, I spend a fair amount of time doing schoolwork. However, I also program a lot outside of class. You can check out some of the stuff I have created on the FutureSight website. My current (and by far biggest) project is the Cleveland Transit mobile application. When I'm not programming, I run cross-country and track. In cross-country, I run the 8k, while in track I primarily do the 3k and 5k. I also am a very big railroad enthusiast, especially about urban rapid transit. I maintain an ever-growing collection of photos I have taken of railroads (and other things I find interesting) on my Flickr page.

Other fun stuff about me

  • I speak English and Spanish
  • I like to bake
  • I have perfect pitch
  • I really, really like chocolate
  • My favorite color is blue
So yeah, that's me in a nutshell. Feel free to say hello on my talk page!
