Potential concern

I haven't been on the wiki in a long time, so I'm not completely sure whether this is of concern or not.

However, it seems to me that this article is written in a way that *almost* violates S:NOSP - many of the users mentioned and the like feel too... personal (?) almost?

Like, for example, here, I am sort of bothered by "This was started by Zro716 and has spread slowly." It seems almost like it's addressing Zro716 as someone familiar to every reader. I personally think that it would be better worded as "This was started by the user Zro716 and has spread slowly" or something similar.

As I said, I haven't been on the wiki in a long time, so I'm not really sure what other people might think about this. That's why I'm curious to see others' opinions.
Userlogoaonymousguy.png AonymousGuy (talk | contribs | Scratch account) 03:49, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I think of that as advertising Zro716.
Mitopolis (talk | contribs) 21:06, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I definitely agree. It is making the assumption that everyone already knows about Zro716.
Srevilo (talk | contribs) 06:34, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
I agree. It is like as if it's expecting you to know about Zro716. (I also fixed the indenting stuff.)

Famous Trends

How famous does a trend have to be to be able to be mentioned in this article?
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 17:48, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Bump. (Will bumping work?)
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 00:48, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Notability depends on opinion. I think a trend that is used more than 10 times would be considered notable.

Internets

Considering adding a part in forum trends about asking for Internets (Internetometer). Thoughts...?
Icon.png GlassGalaxy (talk | contribs) 05:55, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

That would be allowed.
PPL Icon.gif ♥PrincessPandaLover Talk | Contributions | Scratch Account 13:04, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
I don't know anything about Internets, but I think there should be a short description about what exactly it is. Is the site trusted? Does it take anything from the user? It is it a form or bragging and/or a popularity meter? etc.
Purplebook163's Profile Picture.gifpurplebook163 | Talk | Contribs | Edits 📖 📕 🔖 20:07, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
I think they could go to the Internetometer site to find that out. --

Is rockify really a trend?

I don't really see it as a trend, because I almost never saw it. But IDK. I want more opinions on that. --
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 16:19, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

I mean...I guess it could be considered one...but I've never really thought of it as a "trend" either. :P

The "Random Facts About" trend in the "reading and playing" forum

So in the "reading & playing" forum there is the trend of "random facts about" topics that became super popular in the last few days. should we add that?
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 13:05, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

mmh, I think we shouldn't add it unless you think people have actually been searching the wiki, looking for an explanation of the trend.

Right... It's only a few days old, so no one did search for it. but I think that in a few days it will get to that point.
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 13:32, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
It got to this point, and PPL added it.
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 16:34, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Adding dates

I think we should add dates as to around when this was a trend because from a personal view, I would like to know what, say year or maybe month these were popular. Would this be too much?
HappyParakeet (talk | contribs) 06:39, 3 March 2018 (CET) 5:39, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

If you can find the dates, then go ahead! I personally don't know when these were around (although I can probably figure out some of them), so if you have any better ideas feel free to give it a shot. Just remember to cite your sources :)

trend

I want to add something about Add Yourself projects but if I made it it would probably break the Scratch Wiki guidelines. I also would probably need more information to say. Can someone please add it.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 02:27, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Add Slatch?

Should we add SlatchRevolution, Sam, and QBert? Because it seems to be a trend, but does go against Scratch, so it would have a reason to be left out.
HappyParakeet (talk | contribs) 2:37, 27 March 2018 (UTC)

No, go ahead and add it. Add a note saying it is a joke, and shouldn't be taken seriously, and you should be fine. :)
PrincessFlowerTV (talk | contribs) 19:35, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
This hasn't been added yet - could I add it? I mean, I could get enough information, but HappyParakeet never came back here and I was wondering if I should add it.
EIephant_Lover (talk | contribs) 20:10, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Go ahead, if you have enough info! I think Slatch is good, never heard of Sam and QBert but if you think they're also notable you can add them here.
Kenny2scratch logo.jpg kenny2scratch  Talk  Contribs  Directory
20:11, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! Oh, and Sam was the villain in the original Slatch saga. (He was a sprite in the sprite library that Wazzo made fun of in an old project of his, then in the Slatch saga he got insecure and blah blah blah. He's pretty much a meme now.) QBert is Slatch's Scratch Cat. QBert is a pale blue dog, really just an edited Scratch cat.

Where did the meme table go?

Who removed the meme table? what was wrong with it?

Add "I don't usually favorite projects"?

Does the thing about favoriting a chain of 5 projects to spell out a message, like "I don't usually favorite projects", count as a trend, and if so should I add it?
-ShadowOfTheFuture- (talk | contribs) 19:36, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Hmmm, I do know that a lot of people do that with studios and projects, but not THAT many people do it.
NYCDOT (talk | contribs) 19:39, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
I think this should class as a trend. I can think of quite a number of Scratchers in my head that have a profile containing "I don't usually favourite projects" or something of the sort. However, that may just be me.
Drunken_Sailor (talk | contribs) 21:41, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Is the Slatch/Sam section too personal?

I added a section about Slatch/Sam, but I don't know if it seems too personal/breaks these guidelines. Please revise it if you think it needs to be revised! Thanks :)

Chez Wizard

I added the Chez wizard trend here. i hoe that works with whoever created it :)
Tarekzaki (talk | contribs) 18:57, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Cheese Wizard Was not a trend it was a spam chain that got removed 3 days after it started, It was also hardly know through-out the community. That is why I removed if you want to disscus it more just contact me on my talk page. :)
Jakel181 (talk | contribs) 19:22, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
I understand, but it was pretty popular. Can we please keep it?
Tarekzaki (talk | contribs) 19:55, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
It was spam, not a trend! No matter how popular it was, we don't document breaking of guidelines. It stays gone.

"How to make book?"/Warriorpugs

"How to make book?" is a comment type which is mostly said when a Scratcher wants to make a book but doesn't know how. Warriorpugs started in a RP studio that a user did not know anything about Warriors and tried to recreate the studio as a pugs type-theme. Should this be added?

Could you link to a couple of important examples of this? Also many links to examples of this trend would be appreciated to prove it's a trend.

Is "Hurt and Heal" notable enough?

A search on Scratch for "Hurt and Heal" only brings up a couple of results. I'm not sure that this is a notable enough trend. Should I remove it?

Adding "Thanos Cat" and possibly the "Go 3.0" logo trend?

I'm pretty sure that "Thanos Cat" can be added, it's been really noticed throughout the community and has spread a ton - studios and topics have even been made about it. Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped half of the universe, and that logo is referring to how the release of 3.0 had the same effect to lots of scratchers. The original studio can be found here.

As for the "Go 3.0 #TrustTheST" icon trend, I've seen it around less and it is still debatable. However, it still is very popular and should be considered.
NilsTheBest (talk | contribs) 22:18, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

I would definitely add Thanos Cat - I agree that I've seen Go 3.0 around less but it still is quite notable. (To me; I support Go 3.0).
Redglitter Profile Picture Mini.gif Redglitter (Talk ~ Contributions ~ 506 edits) 16:38, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
ok I'll add it and see what people think about it! I'm pretty new to the wiki though, so it might not be perfect at first.
NilsTheBest (talk | contribs) 18:12, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
I've added a bit about the "Go 3.0!" thing, not new on its own just a part on that section.
EIephant_Lover (talk | contribs) 19:19, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. That trend was also worth mentioning in my opinion.

Should "Internet" be Capitalized?

A few times on this page, it's written as "Internet" and a few times as "internet". I'm not just talking about the "Internets" trend. I looked it up, and the first result on the web says it should be capital, but I don't think it should be. Maybe look here to see if it should be? I don't know.
EIephant_Lover (talk | contribs) 22:35, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

I am of the following opinion:
  • "The Internet" (noun with definite article)
  • "An internet" (noun with indefinite article)
  • "An internet forum" (adjective)
