Talk:Platformer

The platform game tutorial derserves its own article I think. I will create a section in this page for tutorial links of how to create diffrent kinds of platformers. I think other contributers need to post tutorials as well instead of articles about the forums or blocks because those are pretty well developed already. --Archmage 16:24, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Well I only moved it because it is do to with this article, I'll leave it as it is this time, but I think it shouldn't be separate.

I think that all long tutorials should get their own articles. Putting them with the articles would make them too long and unfocused. Also, this makes tutorial articles easier to catagorize. --Archmage 18:14, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks WeirdF, I learned a lot of game programming from tutorials like these so I try to model my own tutorials after them. I still have to finish the RPG tutorial which is taking a while because of work and school. From what you can see from the RPG tut, an RPG isn't the easiest project if made properly. However, I give you all the scripts you need so anyone with the ability to follow directions would be able to put it together.--Archmage 14:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Examples in Scrolling Platformers

I don't think it should be kept in. A simple replacement would be "Some scrolling platforms have become really popular, such as Example by Example. That would serve only one advertisement, but should be agreed upon. I haven't heard of any of the current ones. But, I do understand removing it entirely. My suggestion for what to put as an example is Scratchnapped by Griffpatch. Anyway, don't touch it without responding. Deleting it would leave a very small section. Replacing it would need to be agreed upon.

I, for one, think that this section should be deleted entirely, as it might hurt a users feelings if their platformer did not get featured in the article. Featuring these is practically advertising.

I say the "examples" sections should be replaced with tutorials instead - keeping the length but removing the guideline-breaking content.

I think that there should be an example of a scrolling platformer (eg: how to make one), instead of certain projects, it would be more helpfull towards the user.

Someone vandalized the link for "Never look back" to a game that may be NFE, outside of the Scratch network.

Can this be edited by new Wikians?

The article pages can be edited by New Wikians with the sole exception of protected pages with the protected level of above New Wikian. (the Wiki Wednesday pages are also being protected for a month when featured and therefore the Wikians are also unable to edit as well) However, you can send a edit request to talk page with the detailed description of what you want to change (like, "X should be changed to Y because it's incorrect"), and an EW/Admin/bureaucrat will handle your request soon.
